This is an excellent point that you make. I am a Canadian Muslimah living in Japan for the last 28 years and my children attended Japanese government schools and we're not only allowed to pray during the lunch period but were told that they could go into a clean, quiet space (usually the library or the art room) in order to feel more comfortable. In spite of the fact that the Japanese constitution prohibits the government from openly promoting religion, the Japanese schools understand that individuals praying on school premises not only doesn't contravene this rule or foster ill will but on the contrary, makes the school more inclusive and fosters more kindness among the pupils.

When no place to pray, I simply sit on the chair and pray in gesture. Who can prevent a muslim to pray? One day a MRT staff politely asked me not to pray here when I completed my prayer. I felt sad. Next day I found an idea that I can pray in our company car instead of MRT. Alhamdulillah I do my one prayer in the car while on board.

Jazakallah khariun, these issues affect a big proportion of the Muslims within the UK which are students. A lot of the time our frustration are brushed under the carpet and we simply don't have the time or resources to campaign against these type of policies against usstudents. It is unfair Muslim students always have to pick between their education or their faith!

At least girls are allowed an education here. I once applied for a job in Saudi Arabia. I had to sign a piece of paper to say i would not practice my religion there. I did not feel i could honestly sign it, so i did not go. As someone i believe Churchill said, Muslims are all for mino rity rights when they are the minority, when they are the majority, there are no minority rights. The school made their secular views very clear before the girl started there. It works for them, There are other schools if the parents were not happy about it. it does not say you cannot go th school if you are female or Muslim.

Secondly, I know your pea-sized brain can't comprehend that women have education within Muslim countries all across the world - Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the middle east ect and even if some women do not get education in certain areas of the world- your ethnocentric ideals on the quality of different women's lives, outside of the west is v ignorant. Let me make it clear to you, that for the most part of history , Britain alongside the rest of Europe treated women inhumanly, and even debated whether they had a souls. It is really funny that you have a problem with Muslims within this country practicing their religion, as you wouldn't even have this dilemma, if you had never intervened with our home countries started wars and colonised them too etc. What you won't understand, is that Muslims are citizens like the rest of the people in the UK and have morals that we [consistently] obey. The double-standards are so clear, if this was done to a 'certain' other minority religious group the media would've been going ballistic. To deny a Muslim student a right to have a room to just pray in, seems like a deep-seeded religious intolerance. However religious intolerance is acceptable right, especially in a Christian country where they make fun of their own God - how riveting? Maybe my language is a bit too advanced for you to understand, probably as you can barely write a grammatically correct language in your own mother tongue .... p.s Saudi Arabia does not represent Islam or Muslims as a whole.

Prayer is the most precious thing to us and our own business!! All that has to be is allowing Muslims to use a room for prayer, during the lunch breaks and appointing a senior student or staff member to oversee everything. I pray in my work place here in Australia, all the time and it doesn't affect anyone. I can't believe this conversation is even being entertained, let alone reaching the freaking high court.

Praying is a threat?

i'm an atheist who is regularly and quite happily branded "far right", and i see no issue with prayer in schools as long as it is done during breaks and it is not being encouraged by teachers. (no using schools as a grooming ground for religious indoctrination.)

If it was an Islamic private school and the school allocates a 'prayer' time, I don't think this is a problem. Otherwise, like you said.. the children should pray in their breaks like I did in my average state school.

So why should Islam have special priveleges in a secular school? Where there are so many religions, the sensible rule is, no religion in the school. The head runs a superb school by having strict rules, it works. This whole thing is caused by entitled troublemakers. The head doesn't allow any nonsense, woke, religious or whatever.

We used to have christian assemblies in al schools every morning, although no one was forced to attend, and the catholics did not. That has all been stopped, because certain groups objected to it, There are still some christian schools, as there are muslim and jewish schools. The aim of the school is to educate, in a multicultural envitoment you are not going to please everyone.

There is already an abundance of local initiatives of establishing Islamic schools, already including the procurement of land and funds for construction and operation. Guess who persistently denies them permit, unveiling their bigoted selves beneath their charade of tolerance and inclusion. You are not getting the full grasp of the issue. This is why you do not draw political conclusions just from contemporary events and trending news coverage (riddled with biased reporting). The Muslims are deliberately and systematically pitted to be left with zero options. The government's disapproval for the growing Muslim populations in establishing their own educational institutions only leaves them with the alternatives of christian schools or secular schools. Yet in (most) of their christian schools, they will go greater lengths in ensuring school policies adhere to their anti-Islam politics. They will be more zealous in enforcing the prayer ban. The Muslims thought the secular schools would accomodate them, or at least tolerate their self-evidently non-intrusive practice or prayer. But turns out that by "secular", they mean anti religion. If the Muslims had known from the get go that there is zero sincerity behind the christian countries' facade of inclusion, then the entire socio-political and global economic landscape of the world will be entirely different than how it is today. Your colonizer forefathers know this. And instead of gambling with the alternative of all-out military invasion through nuclear siege, they saw that there is far more wealth to be promisingly gained by playing the _good guys_ (i.e. the wolf in sheep's clothing) into "diplomatically" (with the liberal use of deceit on the front end, and armed coercion and economic/political blackmail on the untelevised back end) swindling from us our rare earths, and exploiting our abundant human resources that are plagued with desperation and poverty that *you* (your imperialist regime) inflicted. See, the reality is that your "enlightened" society has only deregulated slavery. But it is clear that through shedding light on the convoluted arrangement of global affairs, it keeps on becoming more clear that *enslaving and dominating others is still on the genes of your oligarchs.* Keep that in mind when you think to go on moral tirades, or whine about Muslims "littering" your lands. Your society's moral high ground is an illusion. And as much as you hate the "slaves" (i.e. second-class Muslim citizens) you are dependent on us just as much as how you think we are dependent on you.

By banning or restricting prayers, the Muslims feel oppressed and this will strengthen their faith. You cannot kill the spiritual, when if you kill them. It will haunt you.
