My son is 5 months today, and for over a month now, he’s been taking terrible naps, always grumpy, and wakes up every 45 minutes at night. He will fall right back asleep once I hold him but then wake back up if I put him down too soon.

Hey Lena! We suggest moving to 1 nap at 12-14 months, so it sounds like it's time for your little one to consolidate his daytime sleep and widen those wake windows so he can sleep more soundly at night! Here is a link to our blog that explains how to handle the 2-1 nap transition! littlezsleep.com/blog/the-2-to-1-nap-transition-a-guide-to-the-1-nap-schedule/

I have commented a few times in the past. My daughter is now eight months old and STILL sleeping through the night. I have definitely experienced this but, the big challenge I have now is sometimes my daughter shows tied signs but, when I put her down for a nap she will not sleep. She will chill but, just not sleep. Ironically last weekend she showed me no tired signs for almost 4 hours and when I sat her down for a meal she started to scream and put her hands behind her head. Wouldn't you know she wanted a nap and slept for 2 hours.

@@littlezsleep Thank you. I actually have a very important question. So, while my daughter is an excellent night sleeper when she is well, she is also just as good of a sleeper when she is sick. Unfortunately, she is currently fighting a double ear infection. I know that rest is one of the best ways to battle almost any ailment but, how much sleep is too much sleep? Especially for an 8 month old?

Becca! My son is definitely a mover in his sleep but that's the only sign besides waking up an hour after he's asleep. But we're also getting the last 4 teeth in before the 2 year molars! Would you consider this undertired still? His wake windows are already 5.5-6 hours.

Hey Gabbie! I would look into how quickly he is falling asleep. It also may be that he needs a slightly shorter nap!

Hi Becca! Love following you and all your helpful advice. My toddler who is 22 month old has been sleep trained since he was five months old. He wakes up anywhere between 6:30 - 7 takes a nap at daycare from 1 - 2:30 and bedtime is usually between 7:45 to 8. Lately at daycare he has been napping only 1 hour from 1:15 - 2:15. Since the nap is shorter, not sure what time to put him to bed now without being overtired. Please help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Xo

Hey, EP! Great question! At 22 months, we ideally want a 2-2.5 hour nap, so if the nap is 1 hour or less, we recommend a 30-60 minute early bedtime, depending on his mood! This may mean he gets 12.5 hours of night sleep once and a while and that's great!

My 6 week old will show every sign of overtired except for crying. He gets red eyes, rubbing eyes, yawns, staring blankly and doesn’t engage. But once we try to put him to sleep he just doesn’t fall asleep and doesn’t fuss very much. He just hangs out there. I’m so confused

Hey, Brook! It sounds like your little one needs to be put down for his nap before he shows all of those signs, otherwise he will have a harder time falling asleep! At 6 weeks of age, I recommend using a 45-60 minute wake window (and that incldues his feed!) Congratulations on your sweet, new one! 💛

Hey there. So how does this work with twins that sleep in the same room? Where one is tired and the other is not quite there yet? We don’t have the option of different rooms and they have to be in the toddler beds that they are in as they launch themselves out of any configuration. So the awake kid always provokes the tired one. Then sets the tired one into overtired mode. Just need more content on sleep for twin toddlers please!

Hey there, Nadi! I highly recommend a 2 nap schedule for your little one with 2.5/3/3.5 hours for wake windows and 11-12 hours of night sleep! If your little one doesn't know how to fall asleep independently (Without help from you or a prop) I highly recommend you check out or baby sleep program for babies 4-16 months of age! It's 2-weeks in length and will have your little one sleeping independently for both naps and nights! 💛 Check out our program here, littlezsleep.com/baby

Our son is 2.5 years old. He used to fall asleep nicely 2 months ago, but after we removed pacifier it became a nightmare and each day he fall asleep between 9:20 - 10:pm. He seems to be undertired or ideal time when we move to his room (between 7:30pm-8pm), we read a book/or two and it looks like he will shortly fall asleep, but suddenly he starts to became very restless and hyper, he starts to comment everything in the book, then changing positions 20 times, then he starts to turn light on/off and it drives us crazy. What should we do? For the nap we need to carry him in the stroller, because we just can't spend another 2 hours to put him to sleep in bed and he definitely needs that nap. We tested to skip the nap, and reality was that at 4pm he became crazy, biting us, beating us and then fall asleep in 5 minutes at 5pm. And normally his nap starts at 12pm and lasts 1hour - 1:30 Thanks for your amazing videos. We will try to incorporate Playtime in the room before bedtime, hopefully that helps with connection :)

Hey!! Thank so much for being here and sharing with me! Restlessness is a sign of overtired, and at 2.5 years old he still needs 11-12 hours of sleep at night plus a daytime nap of about 90 minutes. I would for sure suggest learning more about my Toddler Sleep Training Course which would help him reach these totals within a few weeks! You are correct that he may not be ready to drop the nap, and helping him get the most sleep possible will help him so much!!! Check out: littlezsleep.com/toddler
