Useless to ban, people are addicted to this sh*t, people are using vpns to access loot boxes here in Belgium, many complain that we get worse service and gaming experience because of theses bans because we cannot access content, it is of no use to ban if people are just savage consumers that need their dopamine release from playing casino machines.

Tbh, having one rel. tiny country going forward with such a ban doesn't mean much in the big picture. Even a EU wide ban... asians gonna do asian stuff and keep this alive and ready to spill over again in a different (legally gray again) form. EU is also too busy rolling out the fixes for REAL issues, like giving me shitty bottle caps that stay on the bottle. Stand aside, paper straw. EU coming through, saving the planet xD Useless bunch of bribe driven muppets.

For example getting a platoon of 3 tier 10 heavy's while im at 94% mark and they just rush in the wrong flank because yolo haha and they die in like 40 seconds meanwhile the enemy team gets a platoon of 3 warlords is let me tell you not a fun experience, not just for me, for the whole team

I stopped playing around that time probably even more 7 to 8 years, still see QB videos, but even at that time i was just playing arty or derp tanks mostly, i stopped having any fun with the game, i just derped around with my Japanese heavies, played arty to have a chill game or play some strong tanks at the time, then they changed how HE worked and even that fun got ruined. I loved to derp the op tanks with HE being a annoying mosquito.

As long as the buying allows advantage people will buy it no matter how much you cry "Vote with your wallet". Sadly this method doesn't work because we are outnumbered by the folks who need cheat codes and p2w advantage to get their names on a ledger. You can try but you only deny yourself the chance to compete with what they won. I agree and no longer buy this crap but i suffer at tier 8 with most folks always being -2 with op golden crap running amok with the 10's.

Unfortunately the number of players who take this approach pale in comparison to the amount of people who will just continue to empty their wallets. It’s a shame but long as war gaming continues to make money they’ll keep trying to eek out more and more money from the player base.

It really is not fair to be like that. Trying to collect all of WOT today? Sure. However hindsight 20/20. If one started out playing in the BETA back in what? 2012? And kept up collecting and having fun with the game for over 10 years? Like that is not really such a stupid thing really. Talked with someone showing off their ice bikes they use in their hobby. This was at a car show. NASCAR but riding on ice around a circle track. Fully spiked tires they have to spike themselves and pay for everything out of pocket. Weld the bike body etc etc. Thousands of ours spent on it. Go to events and drive those crazy bikes 120km/h on the straits and 90km/h in the turns. They have done it for 40 years those I talked to. And spent stupid money on it. Earned nothing from it. Only good thing to come out of it is being fit and well physically for someone as old as they are. Yet every freaking time they go out on the ice track they are risking of shutting down there own servers in a accident. That is next level stupidity. Yet I get it. It is fun to drive fast in cars too. $40 a month is nothing. Hobbies are hobbies. If you hoard (called collecting by some.) stupid things? Then you should also know that there are not allot 'like you' that would be willing to take the things you care for off your hands one day. Walked yesterday passed a book store run by a old gentleman and lady. Spending stupid amount of time trying to get their huge collection of books to go to a good home. Having to pay for a shop front and everything. That sounds really stupid. Yet that is life. Problem with this hobby is that they are all pixels. And relying on a sustainable business to keep the game/servers alive. It is greed that is the problem here. By WG. And people not knowing when it is a good idea to actually say no to hoarding and FOMO. It is nothing new to WoT. Have 0 money into WoT. WG have only taken my time. Would be sad to see the server shut down tomorrow. Yet it is even worse if the game is unplayable and abusing people while not even keeping the game fun for anyone. Like truly fun. Not a job to grind stats or pay for FOMO. If your playing the game 24/7 but only enjoy the new content? It is not fun. Simply as that. It is a grind and distraction 24/7.

At least, Genshin or Starrail giving player ticket to gacha roll if they play ingame contents like Daily Mission, Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, etc. But for WoT, man...Idk what they thinking when they putting Gacha mechanic into the game

Did not expect Mihoyo games player here, but that's harsh truth. True gachas give players possibility to use core mechanic of the game which is gacha. WoT is made into gacha but is not true gacha, and that is the problem, middle ground in this case is worst for the f2p and low spenders

I'm playing WoT for 9 years and after playing Starrail and know about Gacha mechanic, I'm seeing WG problem when they put it into WoT, just like what you said.

remember when you can grind all those tanks in marathon for free and its meta tanks , but now its just a shadow from those with all these lootboxes

almost all wot events have been outside my possibility to unlock anything, it requires such engagement, playing 7 days a week 24 hours a day to get anything interesting, its generally impossible for a casual to get anything outside normal tech trees, add to that pay to win mechanics and every time I want to play wot, playing 2 games is enough, I'll already be frustrated of the amount of work this game requires of me, I work to get money, not to spend money on pay to win and pay to unlock games. I might as well just play some rocket league.

Unfortunately, the lootbox system is going to just keep hurting the game. Even when we look at its mobile counter part it’s hurt metas and it’s hurt the comp scene as a whole. Not to mention how expensive these box’s are. It’s a shame.

@@GrayVal Uhhh... that's *ALL* games. That's why they MAKE the games in the first place. Their only goal is to keep the players and goad them into spending. Eventually they'll find a saturation point (probably around 6 events a year) where more players close their wallets or walk away entirely than buy in.

So important that you bring this up, QB. I don't have severe gambling addiction, but let's say that I've spent more money on this game than I'd like to admit. Ironically, fortunately the game is getting stale for me, so this is the first time I won't splurge on loot boxes. Still, this is predatory practice, because I know there are people that suffers from full blown addiction. Some are more well off than others, but times are tough for many, economically speaking. That a game that's supposed to be fun and detach you from reality, this is going in the wrong direction, and may lead to dire situations in real life. I think it's time for WG to prove that they are aware of this and don't release yet another loot box event until christmas - at least. My fear is that this will be a bi-monthly affair. It's sad to see a game that used to I love, slowly descend into being a moneysink, but I guess this is where we're going.

Yes. Put the name World of Tanks on that list. And fingers crossed that the EU forbidds loot boxes in games one day.

They already have a way around this, which is by actually having the lootbox be a slot machine, showing you what comes out of it BEFORE you buy it. But if you want another spin on the machine, you have to buy the first reward. This way you can actually see what you are buying, rendering it NOT a lootbox mechanic under current legislation in the EU

Amusingly enough most of the loot box tanks rarely pop up in battles except the really OP ones like the BZ and BBQ. I can count on 3 fingers how many times I've seen the must have Tiger-Maus in a battle after the first month it out. I see more of the Token tanks than I do anything else. Prems are all over but the really hyped ones all disappeared. I remember all the crying from ppl who didn't get that Xmas coin game tank (Obj 283), a tank I got perm after 21 rools. Boo hoo, it's rigged, wargaming is a cheat, we should all get one. I played 6 games in it and not it's got 3 feet of dust on it, plus I only saw this tank 3 times in a rando battle since that xmas event ended. The tank was garbage and they still cried over it. I so wish we could sell it to players for gold+creds, I'd be in game rich.

From a business tactic, they are increasing the prices/frequency of new content and lootboxes because when you first release some way of quicker progression, people will get accustomed eventually, and will not pay for it anymore. So you add a new big thing, so that the people that are still buying that previous thing that you released, are now going to buy the new thing also. But again, some aren't going to do that for very long or at all, so they release one more thing. So they keep making the same money, or even more, while less and less people buy this things, even on a smaller margin. This would need to continue forever, because the less people buy stuff, the more the prices should increase, to compensate. But eventually, there won't be anyone left to buy stuff, so that would be the end. Also, one other reason can be that usually companies try to push the user into paying as much as he willingly can. So they add more and more lootboxes each year so that they can test the limit. Which would be the point where they would have added so many lootboxes, that just enough people have stopped buying anything, that the profit they make from the ones that are still buying, is lesser then the one they made last year with fewer boxes. So in this case, that would be the limit, n-1, n being the number of lootboxes where they started making less profit than the previous year (n-1) .

QB naming f2p players as the only ones who would probably want to get premium days out of these lootboxes was peak irony :D

This is the reason I'll never spend money on this game. If they can't monetize it with respect towards the players, they don't deserve our money.

I played for 10 years, but not this year, I still have earned premium for another 6 months, but I have unsubscribed the Plus, and cant bring myself to play, because it isnt me playing a game it is the game playing me.

I started playing in 2012. I played something like 20k games. I stopped playing months ago and was on and off for about a year before that anyway. The games has become stale and WG have had a looooong time to rebalanced the OP game ruining tanks but they don't. I had a lot of fun in the past playing wot but I feel like the party is over and I think wot might be beyond help now. I wish it wasn't this way but it is.

Still... it could be worse... on Lesta they have ramped up everything lootbox wise... from tiered lootbox systems to having 3 separate lootboxes on the go the past month, to gatekeeping the Gold WT E100 in the holiday ops boxes with no limit on how much you had to gamble to get it (some streamers got 4000 boxes before getting their one... and 55000 of them ended up in players hands in the event). I'm glad we're playing the Wargaming one and not the Lesta one...

On Lesta WoT, the prices are much more reasonable, and the drop rates were also better on practice. Aside from the Golden WT, I was able to get everything before the fix to drop rates. I also received significantly more gold, credits, and in-game content compared to any loot boxes from WG.

WG is following in the footsteps of Lesta, but they're making even worse decisions. For example, on Lesta servers, you could get experimental equipment from loot boxes purchased with credits or gold. However, on WG servers, you have to spend real money to acquire this now new Pay2Win equipment.

I used to regularly spend money on buying new premiums, this would easily be around 300 euros/year for me excluding the holiday ops boxes. This year so far, apart from the holiday boxes, I haven't spent a single cent. I'm not okay with gambling for tanks and I feel it's extremely disrespectful to us all that they're trying to lure us into wasting our money on things we don't need, just to get the thing we want. I can't be alone in this. I'm sure they've alienated a lot of people from spending the amounts they used to. But I think unfortunately that small % of whales makes it worth it to them, although ultimately I think it'll come at a cost ..

Same here. I would be at least tempted to buy new tanks or even boxes if they had a decent chance to get new tanks (no diluting chances with 10 old premiums). For the last 4 gacha events I just did the math and didn't like my odds...

I made my current most played account in late 2017 (36,000 battles today). This account was fully free to play from day 1, and to this day I haven't given Wargaming a penny through this account. I was able to collect multiple strong premium tanks like the progetto 46 and bourrasque (among others) by playing their respective marathons to get them. Thanks to those marathons and other factors I have been able to get almost all tier 10 tech tree tanks, a few reward tanks and other cool stuff. For about 3 years now I have been able to play at the highest level of World of Tanks, being able to play all my tanks running strong crews, premium consumables, a healthy amount of gold rounds, and I have all the special equipment which I can swap out to my other tanks (bounty, bond and experimental, all types). However, I can say with absolute certainty that what I have been able to do on my free to play account would be IMPOSSIBLE if I were to make another new free to play account today, and that has already been the case for at least a year. You can no longer get tier 8 PREMIUM tanks for free (you know, the ones that actually make extra credits). All the most recent marathons include a paid element making it impossible to get the tank truly for free, and any tanks that are possible to get for free like the battle pass tanks and the recent free patton the tank, they are all reward tanks not premiums... NO EXTRA CREDITS. Credits of course being the biggest barrier for free to play accounts, and earning credits without a premium account OR a premium tank requires such a huge grind that it's no longer worth it with the state of World of Tanks nowadays.

2013. 10 long years. Progetto 46 and Bourrasque grind looking back at it... It would be worth having gone ahead and gotten them for free. But you know what? Screw that. When the FOMO of grinding those was around? It was quite a new concept to grind for 'allot' of hours for a OP premium tank. It seemed quite ridicules even now in retrospect it was a f2p dream come true. Yet I'm sleeping well knowing that those tanks ruined the MM for the event. And in general has made the game less enjoyable overall. How much fun would it be to grind hours of your time when meanwhile some gold spamming p2p player is running around in there brand new OP toy? Got a Is3a-peregine from credit action. Grinded TOG-II. Jump Aboard the ShPTK-TVP 100. I'm even mad enough to have grinded the 'BIG Alpha' Tier 9 Premium WZ-114. That you can buy for bonds in the bondshop now? Anyways the point is that 2012-2022 there was a freaking point to the madness. Now? It is the legacy account that makes WoT even relevant to even think about anymore. No new players have any reason to play this garbage. When even a dirty f2p for 10+ years that do not run food or find it fun to dab the 2 key to win? Know that their is no point in trying to play anymore? Since the game is not meant to be fun. It is only a stat and FOMO gatcha whatever game. Who but the whales are the game for? My most played tank is the IS-3. 55% WR. And even when I had the credit economy to fire APCR? I still insisted to play my IS3 without using gold agents even Tier 10's. Happily fought agents IS7's with AP. Happily giggled my rear agents JpE100's. No food, no nothing. Today? Taking out the IS-3 is only to dust it off. There is simply to much p2w and players so hyper focused on grinding stats. Trying my best to play the IS-3 today? It would ruined my WR on it. I'm not gotten worse. The P2W has. Not really the skills of others. Only the P2W and creep of premium tanks. When the arty nerf happened adding stun? That was the beginning of the end for WoT. Now look at HE nerfs. Everything is simply bullshit. Happy to have gotten then IS-3A to replace my tech tree tank. Clearly WoT can shut there servers tomorrow and no one would care. Since there is no reason for anyone else to continue playing this game. And do not let WG or anyone else fool us. f2p players is what made WoT work. Now the f2p players are all tomato's. And there is no encouragement for them to get better at the game. Since it is all about opening your wallet now. Before you would need to get a tier 8 premium to grind credits. Now? You need to buy one just to have some fun and balanced games. Then thrown up agents tier 10's spamming gold at tier 8's even. Like for real this is not even funny amore. And anyone who is tired of 'paying with there time' filling the servers up for the wales/p2w crowd to play with? They have left leaving the game with even more problems when everyone is only there for stats. Not to actually have fun. 36,000 battles. So much time given to WG to fill the servers up. Got like 13,000 battles. I loved to play arty for most of it. My first tier 10 was I believe the French BC 58 arty. Old pre ruined arty was allot of fun to play. There was actually close range combat with old arty. The French autoloader turreted arty was so much fun since you could actually do more then click on a map. I still remember like yesterday when I messed up and missed hitting a death star in the rear. That being with 20m distance between us in a city. Full out medium tactics with a potential of doing 1000damage penetrating HE shot right into the back of a deathstar. Yet the bloom of the gun made it impossible hit the target 20m in front. I do not even remember how much damage you could do in old arty? Was it maybe 1800damage with HE pen? Anyways the point is that arty was dangerous even up close. Possible to do the kind of damage the deathstar was known for. If you where brake and good enough to outplay them in their part of the map. Now you are forced into clicking on a map and stun the enemy. Since you do barley no damage anymore. What made arty so grate was those who actually used the keyboard and game knowable to bare the massive guns onto target in close combat. Old tier 9 French arty actually had armor too! G.W. E 100 still have decent armor. There is noting as fun as playing arty aggressively and outsmarting/outplaying the actual tanks on the battlefield. But some crybabies complain that they sometimes died making there purple made up unicorn stats of irrelevance... Can not handle the fact that they can not p2w impunity. They must have to rule the rules! Since they are unicorns! They do not die. They only farm. So now we can not even use HE to deal with hull down meta. Even now it would have been fantastic if instead of stun arties we had extremely slow and clumsy TD's that could actually take them to task. It would be fun to have arty running around actually being a bigger treat if they figured out how to use the keyboard and muse at the same time. Yet old WoT made it so hard to actually hit anything not 500+ meter away. If there was even a hint of improvement maybe arty players would actually try and play arty more like a glass cannon TD at times. But that would be to fun! And WG only care to make the wales and purples happy. Imagine the complaining if a Cheif or Bobject could not 1 shot a arty rolling up and taking a dump on there hull down tactics. The bobject doing 700damage killing the arty 120m away in three shots. Whiles the arty did 1200damage in a single shot hitting the strongest of their armor. That sounds like teamwork and actually gameplay.

@@TheDiner50 A lot of very good points, and i can agree with a lot of them. I too used to enjoy playing arty a lot. On my old account I had the 4th highest damage on wotreplays with the S-51 in which I had over 1000 battles which was a lot back then for me. I always wish I could go back to 2016 when I first started playing, the game seemed in a much better state then. I also never used to care about my stats at all, I used to play mainly arty (as mentioned) and I also used to do a lot of climbing when that was still possible. It's a shame wargaming removed all the fun aspects. When all the fun stuff went away the only thing left was to look at my stats and seek to improve those, hence I did. That doesn't mean i spam gold in every tank though, I am still free to play and spamming full gold is not sustainable. I usually take about 20-30% gold depending on the tank, and in most battles I don't fire a single gold round anyway. Your comment should really be a main comment on the video though, not as a reply to mine :P. A lot more people would see it then.

I'm so proud of myself. I quit the game back in 2018 because I had no time to play the game as before. And even when time went on and time got available again, I don't question myself if I should ever come back again. If I would ever come back to Wot if would be fully F2P just having fun at some tier with some whatever tech tree OP Tank it might have and enjoy some tanks, and in the meantime I enjoy watching QB for my tank addiction because I actually really love tanks.

I bought 200 Xmas boxes two years ago and I still have over 35k gold remaining.

From what i remember, the XM66F was actually sold outside of lootboxes together with progetto 46 and some other tank on 12th april. So i think don't think there will be any loot box exclusive tanks in the future outside of the bz-176.

Dunno. One or two box events per year is tolerable. However, putting majority of new content in those boxes, then adding 8-10 random tanks to decrease the odds of getting new tanks is worse mechanic than most gacha games (at least they have pity system to guarantee new characters...). I'd say this video is a year late if anything.

Its not on Wargaming, of cause they want to make money, every business is like this. Its on the Players, guys dont buy these Shitty Scam boxes!

a couple years ago I decided the holiday ops boxes were going to be my routine, for topping up on gold, credits, premium days, etc. etc. for the next year, plus any new tanks and other extras. I havent bought any other promotion loot boxes and I dont plan to. They dont even compare to the value of the holiday loot boxes.

9 out of 10 times the vehicle I was after was in the first or second 'vehicle' drop. With this year's holiday boxes I got nothing for 37 boxes, then 3 tanks in the next 5 boxes. In the end I got all of them 2x over and only once at the '50 box limit', usually around 30 or less. All I'd be after with this set are the experimental components... but it appears putting two tier 3 on a vehicle generates a LOT of packet loss with that vehicle... but not others.

It has been a p2w gacha game for years hence why i quit it.

Sadly have to say I fully agree with all that QB has presented here. WG just takes the proverbial piss out of us and delivers under the bar products no matter what a players skill level or ability, they just prey on FOMO of players. That's never a good long term business plan surely?...

The most important concept for Wargaming to take into consideration is that such aggressive monetization is driving players away. There is a point at which you realize those boxes are just boxes of disappointment unless you are prepared to spend 500 dollars, which is generally not an option. I think they may be slowly strangling the game for short-term gain.

I do play WoT without premium account and I have somewhat decent stats. Trick is, not to play tier X. Because that is the tier where you need a premium account, cos otherwise you will lose credits playing this tier, and that's already without shooting any gold. So I just stick to mid-tiers, much more fun.

I just looked and now you can see which 8 other tanks you may get in the boxes. As someone commented before I also do feel more and more reluctant to spend my money on the game with all these boxes etc.

Wargaming sold me one of the most hilarious ships in WOWS....the Kitakami a cruiser loaded with torpedotubes that could flood an area with torpedoess. They removed it and replaced it with a joke of a replacement...the Atago, because it was waaaay to overpowered and fun and made people cry no refund option. WG have just sold the very same ship once again for a combo of gold and ingame resources.....It would have cost me well over 100 euros to get the ship i already bought once. They are the most greedy predatory company you will find anywhere on the web

It starts with the shit economy forcing you to have a premium account unless you are somehow so good you can be competitive without it, making tier 8 and above economically unviable unless you have a premium account. Already you're paying a subscription just to play the game. Then they had the nerve to sell pixels for £30+ Then they bundle premium tanks with unnecessary extras to squeeze money out of you. Then they add lootboxes where it's randomised what you get and sell these for ridiculous amounts. Then the paid premium tanks become meta tanks. They know people play this sort of game in a more competitive nature where winning is the objective. They plaster your stats everywhere for everyone to view, they don't hide it. So how does a player counter this if they can't just get better? Well they want premium ammo, premium consumables, premium tanks which give extra credits that are ALSO meta. It's so predatory, especially when there are very few to no other ways of obtaining these premium items: tanks, equipment, consumables etc. They rely on FOMO and players wanting to be competitive. Fuck this company, so glad I stopped playing years ago. Game is a shadow of itself

The short summary is that Daki stopped on the track in a blind corner where no one expected it, QB accidentally hit him from behind so that Daki crashed and died. Daki then went on to report QB which gave him a point deduction. Then proper drama ensued. The stream is up on QB's twitch channel, look for a stream from 18 days ago with !EBR in the title. The whole thing is way to long to type out here.

Hi @quickybaby. Thank you for this Video. I was a WoT Player and switched to WoWs. Every new Ship in WoWs in the Last months are behind Lootboxes. Therefore, IT IS a General Wargaming Thing. Not only for WoT. Boxes, boxes and boxes.

XM66F was just sold during the birthday event but other than that the Holida Ops tanks from December haven't been seen yet.

Tbh WG should have daily missions that earns you gold like how many gacha games do. In that way, at least for the next 3 months you can buy yourself a tier 8 premium tank assuming you play everyday.

​@@paulsp2k gacha games (mostly) allow you to have that 5 star or SSR character by just playing the game everyday and it earns you the in game currency that you can roll for the characters. WG is still stuck in the early years of gacha where you can't earn that currency.

This and the fact that there was never much of incentive to cooperate with other players. All the stats are about individual performance. Medals and gunmarks are only the tip of iceberg. It comes as no supprise that WoT comunity is selfish and alowed WoT to become p2w game with season passes and lootboxes. No one stood up when they were killing the game because no one cared. Except you and others who did. You have my respect.

TAP has the tank list for the boxes tomorrow. IeKpz. M41 90, GSOR 1010, 56TP, AMBT, Lansen C, Tornvagn, Kpz. 07 RH and the Ka-Ri.I suspect by 2030 there will be boxes every week lol. When was the last time they actually released a new tank to the actual store first I wonder?The reskinned clones really piss me off, it was one thing before they had figured out how to do 3d styles, but since that time, it's just such a slap in the face.

This ramping up of loot boxes has made me completely close my wallet to world of tanks bar maybe £25 at Christmas when i had a bit of time off work and it was good for some premium time. They need to put tanks back up for sale in their store (for cash(gold would be better but seems unlikely) alongside the loot boxes

My friend and I have been playing again after about two years and I couldn't believe there was a battle pass AND a subscription AND premium all seperate... Madness

Which is not entirely true. An example are the changes to crew over the years. The training level change in this patch. Before that they removed the perk mechanics of BiA. And long ago they made 6th sense a default perk. If it's enough is a complex question. It's not an easy game with many complex mechanics like spotting and armor/pen. But that's on the other hand what helps make it interesting. It's far easier to get into wot than years ago. Still a game and developer with a lot of downsides.

@@ZombieT00f i was being sarcastic about it being controversial, WG is milking the playerbase, they don't care about the "new player" experience or "game balance", the changes they have made are tiny and have no real impact on the game, what does have an impact on the game is the HT hull down meta with the HE nerfs and HTs being as fast as MTs and having 445 meters of view range negating the only advantage LTs have given the map sizes. tanks used to be balanced and have roles now an HT has all of the advantages and the only disadvantage is camo rating

I am a tank collector, but I collect COBI-Tanks... Nearly the same pricetag, but they "work" offline and I can pick the one I want, pay the price and take it home.

I don't know how it's been for others, but in my experience I didn't get a tier 9 premium until I got all the tier 8's that were in the boxes first. So assuming that's the same for everyone, if you're a new player and you wanted to get the T54D, you would have had to buy at worst 400 boxes to get a shot at it. But again this is my experience with these boxes.

Took a few years away and have recently returned... so far, I see manipulation of players - suddenly my aim is overwhelmingly spoiled - shots going the edge(even outside) of the aiming circle, no chance to win matches, horrible to NO pens... WG was already making a killing promoting rage spending and I am not inclined to open my wallet any time soon. Probably going to start looking for a new game, oh and I have easily spent thousands over the past 9-10 years or so.

That situation is not sustainable anyway. Even whales will end up being discouraged, even Christmas lootboxes will end up being not worth buying. The pool of lootbox rewards is so diluted with garbage and duplicates that their value is diving. Even for gacha standards they are heading into a wall, the most profitable gacha games out there like the two you mentioned have systems in place to make up for loot pool dilution: there is an increased chance to get the reward you want (increased drop rates for the reward being advertised) and there is a "hard pity" mechanic that makes it so if you get one of the expensive rewards that's not the one you want, the next expensive reward is guaranteed to be the "rate up" reward. It's also just shameful from them to do what they're doing with reskins. Making a premium variant of a well liked tech tree vehicle is absolutely fine, but making duplicates of existing premiums is not, they got an insane backlash when they first released "black" tanks (IS-6B, T34B...) because they were just the existing vehicle with the black paintjob applied sold as a separate vehicle. They have 3D styles in place exactly for the purpose of adding different skins to vehicles. And we know they can use it, because those reskins are ACTUALLY 3D styles, you can remove the style from their customization settings and they turn into the normal visual model of the vehicle. Again, even in other gacha games, you get compensated for getting duplicates, and those that sell reskins as separate items actually provide a different gameplay. Not only is WoT becoming a gacha game, it's becoming the worst one out there, doing everything wrong to the point where it makes even the average predatory mobile game look good in comparison.

In fear of missing out I ended up with the TS-5 and now it's in the shop for purchase. I have a 128 or so premium tanks and way over half just collect dust in the garage.

If only people were leaving the game more maybe it would've been a better game

Asking a company not to increase profit is like asking a fish not to swim.

The thing about wargaming is that they are privately owned, so this isn't like shareholder pressure. The owners simply don't care about you, obviously, but some people seem to think otherwise. They don't care about opinions, they care about how money is spent.

The more boxes they sell, the less I buy them. Always bought holidayboxes and sometimes other stuff but now i hold on to my money even more becouse if i spend some on these boxes and a better one comes soon, not counting holiday... well then i will miss those. I dont have a lot of money to spend on games so....

ive stepped dwon A LOT. used to get all the boxes so i get all the tanks and levels(event levels - ie christmas) but after all these years i stopped. i just buy a couple of boxes just for fun. i dont care about "the next best thing"

i agree with the clip mostly. i started to play the game in 2013 and stopped in 2015 after 27k games. returned in december (found the t95 (which i only played 1 or max 2 /day to get win bonus till i quit) is top of the tree and wanted to have E3 and return free premium) and kind of liked it again, the boxes are an interesting thing and pretty usefull for me at least, i dont exagerate with them, probably i got 7 out of those 10 tanks, and used the powerups a lot in leveling up the tech of the trees so far, but after 6 months of mostly heavy play getting 2 lines mostly from tier 4->10 (top of the tree lines as i have this principle to never but a tier 9 or 10 at full price :) and the powerups really helped a lot, in combo x5 exp + bonus currency are a breeze compared to what used to be a month long harvest to get 1 line in 2015... and boxes containing other t8 premium were also good in my case as i missed them, probably those tanks are good for those already having them who received full gold price ... last event bought 2 big boxes, got me all tanks (~220Euro), 87 premium days, 8400 gold and 8mil coins. after initial very bad drop, 2nd box was lovely, i put order of tank and number of boxes to open it: AltPRoto AMX 30 - 50, Jagdtiger Prototype - 20, Emil 1951 - 5, Gsor 1008 - 50, Char Mle.75 - 6, T77 -6, K2 - 6, Forrest Spirit - 22, Alembic - 50, T54D - 2, AltPRoto AMX 30 - 50. that cash helped me buy BZ and Strv lines (23.150 mil coins tanks+equipment), without it probably i would have been limited to doing one top of the tree line

This go around of loot boxes feels the slimiest, yet. It doesn't feel like they've been very clear on what is available in the loot boxes, nor the drop rates. In the past, I haven't minded buying the Holiday Ops boxes as a gift to myself and it felt a bit special. Now its just gotten ridiculous, and it makes me question if I'll even buy the holiday boxes this year.

Imagine they announced another collab for this month on the 13th May, Imagine 2 lootboxes sets in one month. Now that is testing the waters .

I was a console pleb but I still enjoyed the game back when I played it. I stopped playing a few years ago due to just wanting to play other games. I redownloaded a few months ago and I just couldn’t get back into the game. I would try to start going down lines I hadn’t gone down before only to match up with enemy teams chock full of premium tanks. It’s one thing to go up against tech tree tanks that are fully equipped and another to go up against premium tanks that are usually better than most tech tree tanks of the same tier.

Excellent video QB, thank you. Also your remark at the end by seriously questioning if it’s worth it should wake some people up. Wargaming know that they can get away with it, as long as the players keep paying. Let’s hope it’s the final nail in the coffin as you said.

I do still think that the Holiday Ops boxes have some value, as they allow me to top up my gold that I can use for unlocking Battle Pass rewards over the following year. I do also think that the additional Battle Pass rewards are often worth spending gold on them. Premium days are nice to get too, and I feel that having WOT Premium makes high-tier games much more accessible for (below) average players like myself. However, there is only so much premium time anyone needs, and I'm currently sitting on way more premium days than I am likely to ever use. If we were able to transfer this time between friends or clan members, or add them to some kind of clan treasury there might be some value in acquiring more, and we might even be able to entice old players to return to the game, but as it is I don't that premium days are much of a selling point any more. I also don't mind having some reskinned vehicles in my garage - sometimes I enjoy just binging mindlessly on my two Defenders, and I can imagine some players might see some value in having another Bourrasque or SU-130PM for the same reason. This all being said, I 100% agree that this game is becoming more and more predatory, and players are getting considerably less value for money this year. And, ironically, I think their new monetisation practices are making me less inclined to participate in any of the "events", as there is less novelty and value to be had. Most of the new mid-year vehicles have been fairly average and unappealing, and I no longer feel like I'm missing out on anything by giving them a miss. All loot boxes in every loot box event need to include gold that is equal in value to the cost of each box - this removes the gambling nature of loot boxes and guarantees something tangible for every box bought. If Holiday Ops boxes ever stop including this I know I'll definitely be spending a lot less time and money on this game the following year. Cosmetic items are not a prize - you can buy these with the gold that should be included in every box. I lost a piece of my soul and a hair follicle every time Chaffee brought me some nonsense decal instead of something that is actually useful, which must be the reason why I sound so jaded and look like an old person. Remember to play the game, and to not let the game play you!

WG could improve guarantee mechanic in loot boxes that after 50 boxes you will be able to choose what tank from the current loot box pool you want to get. I think it will be much more fair to the players, but seeing current monetization in the game I don't believe that WG will do something like this :c

the best boxes they ever did were when they released T77, those gave you 100 golds each and had reopen for first time which cost 100 for first reopen, so you basically had 50 boxes (guaranteed premium) for the price of 25 boxes

Well, you have to remember that corporations are people too! In all seriousness though, I've spent more money on collecting tanks of low and high tiers than I ever should've, but as of a couple years ago it would just be a sunk cost fallacy for me to continue even trying. This Star Trek event being announced interested me, right up until the loot boxes. Now, I don't think I'm even going to bother playing the couple matches a month I've been running for fun.

Although very difficult to implement correctly without it leading to exploitation. I could see a way of solving the fomo tank problem by introducing a trading system for tanks for either gold or equivalent tier tanks between players

Or just make 'em available for purchase directly like 1 year later or so like QB suggested. That way the whales have 1 year where they can enjoy their exclusive tanks and people who are not whales still will get the opportunity to get said tanks. But that solution would be to generous for the playerbase so WG will never do it lol.

I personally was happy when the Kv2 Ragnarok came to the game. I m a big warhammer fan and I loved the fact that I have 2 KV-2. But yes, I agree with you they do anything to get your money

I didn't mind holiday boxes, get myself a little Xmas present, but this is getting crazy. About to buy a PS5 and return to console.

I'm tired of the lootboxes. I was fine with the Christmas boxes because at least I felt like I got a good value from them and got some nice vehicles and it was a once a year thing. Now with all the new boxes, I have FOMO and I buy the max bundle for the max discount because I'm worried about my RNG as well. I don't want many of the old vehicles and yet I'm essentially forced to get them. I've bought all the boxes so far this year, but I'm done. I can't do this anymore. If there is an incredible tank that I absolutely cannot miss out on, then I'll do it, but otherwise, I'm done supporting this practice. I've played games like this in the past and the games that transition to rampant monetization are usually dying behind the scenes and you and up not even being able to play the game in a couple years.

It would be wiser for them to finally set up a market in the game. That players can sell each other things they don't need, including tanks, for any price and currency that the seller himself would determine. Other games have that, none of them failed because of it. Certainly some percentage of "tax" would be included which would go to WG, for example 5-10% of the price. Each of us has a bunch of stickers, skins or a tank that someone wants to buy.

Yes for me it was the emerald boxes gave me a tank I wasnt expecting aka the GSOR 1008 while it is good it wasn't what I was anticipating oh and I had to spend all they way to the guaranteed reward mechanic to get it

They've been doing this garbage in Blitz for years now and I know that it's a mobile game but almost every new tank that isn't a part of a special collaboration event has been released in loot boxes and it's just insane like month after month and if that wasn't enough they introduced a different form of gambling in random prize draws. Technically you are guaranteed to get the tank or prize that you want after spending a set amount money but gambling is gambling and that is never good. One mechanic that they have implemented on pc and not in blitz is where if you already have let's say 7 out the 8 tanks in the loot boxes after opening a certain amount you are guaranteed to get the one that you don't have which reduces the total amount you need to spend, I know that this luxury is not for all players since not everyone spends money in the game but I wish they did that for blitz too. We get compensated for getting duplicates but still I think it would be a great change. I guess now they decided to ramp up loot boxes and that it is also PCs turn to suffer.

This gambling in computer games, which is often aimed at U18s needs desperately to be regulated, it is absolutely disgraceful that governments and platform owners continue to ignore this issue. Thank you for highlighting this.

I only buy boxes at Christmas as you receive gold which you can use and are better value but won't buy them any other part of the year.
