Unlike plants that don't have nervous system, oysters belong to the mollusca phylum and they have a developed neural system, surely not as developed as a human but yes, oysters do feel pain atleast more than insects.

If people can stop wearing pearls then less oysters will be used for anything as useless as wearing them for a status symbol!

now a days there is alternative ways to wear pearl, for ex. Synthetic pearl, so we can use that for satisfying our need, and the most important thing is that original pearl is really very costly, so most of us use the synthetic pearl
