PEARLS | Price, Benefits, Real or Fake Test of MOTI | Know Your Jewels (2020)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello Friends,
In today's video, I am going to talk about PEARLS in detail.
So basically, we have three categories in pearls, first cultured pearls, natural pearls and fake pearls. In today’s video, I will show you both real and fake pearls.
Let us talk about natural ones first.
So, there are oyster shells under the seawater that encapsulate the pearls. So pearls are formed naturally in these shells under the water.
It takes somewhere between 10 years to 20 years for a pearl to get formed in the oyster shell.
Now, see, if we talk about the sizes of the pearls, the longer a pearl stays in the oyster shell, the bigger it gets in size.
So, real pearls are formed basically in three places. First is the pearls of Basra which are now extinct. I am not sure how true is that but Basra pearls are still sold into the market and people whose grandfathers had bought them are not selling them in some areas.
Second best pearls are Australian pearls that have very nice colour and reflection.
And the third is south sea pearl that is found in the south sea (China and Japan). Now let us talk about cultured pearls that are farmed manually.
It takes about a year or two for them to get formed.
So, people get these shells in which they implant pearl seed and with time it grows.
There is a disadvantage of cultured pearls that they cannot be used in replacement of the natural one if your astrologer or your Pundit has recommended you to wear pearls.
That is because the level of energy of a cultured pearl is no match with that of a natural one and hence you won’t notice any impact.
Let us now talk about fake pearls. So fake pearls are made of plastic, and they are abundantly sold for such a cheap price. Plastic pearls are made in factories.
So how will you differentiate a fake one against the real one? I’ll tell you!
See, it is tough to differentiate between the cultured pearls and the real pearls, but it is so easy to tell the difference between a fake (plastic) pearl and a real one.
I’ll also tell you, towards the end of the video, how to differentiate between a cultured pearl and real pearl.
For the time being, let us consider that cultured and real ones belong to one category and fake ones belong to the other category.
A lot of tests are there, one of which is the coating test. Fake pearls have a coating all over so they have the same shine as the natural one. So if you scratch it or bite it, the silver-coloured coating will start to peel off.
Second, you can rub the pearl against your teeth. If it gives you an irregular (sand-paper) feel, it is a real one. However, if it gives a smooth feel, it might be a fake one.
Now let me share some more interesting facts with you about PEARLS:
Number one, fake pearls are lighter in weight than the real ones if the size is the same.
Also, the reflective index of the real one is very high. So if you throw light on it and keep it above your hand, you will see that on the particular pearl.
Third, natural pearls will get warm a little due to your body temperature but the fake one wouldn’t. So, certification is the key. If you are going to buy stones for regular wearing and just for the show, the certification doesn’t matter much. In that case, you can test it through the tests I mentioned earlier in the video.
However, if you really want to know if the pearl is cultured or real, you need to get them certified through authentic labs such as IDGL e.t.c.

My name is Rishi Verma and I am a 5th generation jeweller and a perfumer. This is India's first-ever KZread Channel on Indian Jewellery Insights, where we talk about all the insights of the jewel business. I believe that facts about jewellery are often missed. Since no jeweller talks about it deeply. This Channel is created to give you insights about the Jewellery you wear to look beautiful. My only aim through this channel is to create awareness amongst the general public about the jewel business. We often see and hear stories and cases, wherein people tell us that they were cheated by their local jewellers in one way or the other. Thus this channel is to empower you with the knowledge so that you never have to see yourself in such a situation. So, let's get started.

You really have great knowledge of gemstones.. I wanted to go for pearl but after researching about today's pearl production I found that 99.9 percent of the world's pearl production comes from extreme cruelty and painful sufferings and ultimately death that oysters go through to give the world their astrological luck (chandra).. we need to think, do we really want our luck carved on the miseries, pains, sufferings and death of an innocent little living being..who we forcefully use and kill for our imaginary and material pleasure... truly sad.
