    Thanks for doing these types of tests. What should really be a motivating factor for people to buy this set up from you guys, is the upgrade options that the bms bypass, eggrider display(able to quickly switch from 60v to 72v battery), and ASI BAC 4000(although I wish you guys just went with the 8000 model, better heat dissipation and greater power for not much more money) kits will provide as there are now a number of 72 volt battery makers with super powerful cell configurations currently on the market.

  • @emotobros

    @emotobros

    3 жыл бұрын

    We really did consider the 8000 but we didn't want to be in the market of people wanting more than 14-15kW continuously. That's the level that things start to break and people get hurt and that's a headache for us. Heat dissipation is moderately better but ours have never even gotten much warmer than ambient temp. I'm sure we will offer it at some point. We are tying to enter the battery market as well, hoping to bring a 60V with 50% more range (30 hard miles) and 10kW of power.

    Yes, it was a 4000. At these amperage levels the performance on stock battery would be pretty close between 2000 and 4000. The 4000 has slightly better low end torque due to higher phase amps but that’s it.

    I got 55 MPH ..you guys were going downhill hence the speed difference. The bypass and ASI tuned to 135 amps is what I did to my Surron..and significantly faster than stock. My resistance levels were between .034 and .039 moh..do you know what the resistance is of the stock battery is and your battery sag?(mine was 5.9 volts) with my extender pack. Ive taken the Surron battery apart and made some slight improvements so I would imagine you would have more sag and resistance than my setup.

    That is a bit weird. Your controller really showed increased range by 5%? That is pretty significant. Could you explain how that could be? You accelerate faster AND you get longer range out of the battery, then upgrading controller is worth for anyone. Do I understand it correctly? Would I be able to replicate it by getting any BAC4000 and tuning it just as you have yours tuned?

  • @emotobros

    @emotobros

    3 жыл бұрын

    So the comparison doesn’t use any more power. This is the same power draw as stock. The higher the ceiling of the controller is regarding voltage and power limits in general, the less heat waste their is when generating said power. Other gains could be from an increase in phase current which helps stay off the throttle as much. Nothing scientific regardless, just tested over a couple rides.

  • @emotobros

    No, there are no additional performance gains to be had with the BAC 8000 at the power levels used in this video. The BAC 4000 can reliably handle 15kW which is more than anyone needs (even 7kW is a handful). It's very easy to find videos of people trying out 15kW only to crash and have the bike shoot out from under them. While it is true you might get a little better heat dissipation with the larger heat sink, any performance gains will be virtually negligible at the same power levels.

    Having purchased a Sur-Ron from Luna I can say they have terrible customer service! If I buy any components it will be from warp 9 or emoto Bros for a new controller. You guys are responsive and seem to care about your prospective customers. I really enjoy how you break the technical side of the batteries and controllers down.

    You should just put a Zero motor in it, Sur Ron's are old tech now and over rated for speed they do. A 3000w dual hub 24 26" would beat one to 80kph on same voltage.

    @@441rider KTM isn't capable of much higher peak, is heavier and way more expensive. I can't find anything on non pedal assist Bosch motors. The surron motor is highly capable and is the lowest end option in their line-up. Their water cooled motor with a transmission is better than anything mentioned.

    I believe that I should have sold my surron after two years. No problems at two years. Crazy electronic train wrecks after two years. Now it gets expensive. Whatever I saved on gas, I am paying for replacement controller. A thousand bucks and it's going to wear out quickly. Add 500$ per year to your budget. I am sick of electric nonsense.

    We more so meant have an effect between the comparisons. Regardless, top speed on an electric bike is much more dependent on power levels than a gas bike. Gas is typically limited by the motors ability to turn over from drag or gearing restriction. On electric, you’re electrically limiting the top speed to whatever the power level dictates you can run as power = torque*RPM. Anecdotally, we hit like 43-44MPH ‘downhill’ and on perfectly level ground we hit the same speed with stock controller. Uphill is where you start to lose speed .

    It's absolutely idiotic to go that fast on anything without a helmet. It doesn't matter if you throw text in your video that says wear a helmet if you're dead. If you crash that bike at 60mph with no helmet, you're going to die. Is it really worth it to be a little more comfortable, or look "cool," or whatever your reason is?
