    Drives of this type are known as "Semizoku" (Cicada family) in Japan, I think because the HikSemi CC700 was the first to come out. They all use the MAP1602A controller and YMTC 232-layer NAND. Japan got flooded with cheap drives using those components because of the US's rather protectionist policies regarding Chinese NAND manufacturers.

    In Korea the Netac drives are big... in a very bad way. Starting from this March a large wave of posts regarding Netac drives failing popped up in the Korean IT community (and by that I mean *everywhere* that has some level of interest in PC hardware in general), to the point where "네탁 사망" and "네탁 SSD 사망" (translated to "Netac failure" and "Netac SSD failure" respectively) comes to first and third entries in Google autocompletes to this day. It only fortified the long held belief that one should never cheap out on storage drives.

    Good test: thanks! I liked that you also included a speedtest that is a lot longer. I'm wandering: did you also see how many times the speed dropped? I'm used to seeing it drop two times within 10 minutes or so.

    Very good video, I really like it. I ordered a strip of this 2TB NATEC SSD for its price 3 to 4 times cheaper than the Samsung SSD 980Pro. I immediately liked it with its reading and writing speed, comparable to my Samsung strips but much cheaper. I then ordered several additional strips to set up an ultra-fast RAID which explodes all at speed and works very well. Except that it heats up a lot. It must be cooled well with dough and a thermal plate.

    2 weeks ago I bought the ps5 and I also bought the netac nv7000 ssd on aliexpress, looking for references of this model, many users have commented that they have failed, but looking at reviews of Russian and Brazilian hardware pages, the problem with those ssds are bad factory design of these models. Since the controller, ram and storage chips have different heights, the thermalpad does not make contact between the heatsink and the controller, these increase the temperature and fail. some recommend changing the independent thermalpad each chip according to the temperature and that they make contact with the heatsink, others say that I should also install a 2x2cm piece of thermalpad on the back of the controller chip so that it has more height and thus has contact with the heatsink In my case, I ordered a heatsink with a copper heatpipe to replace it, which comes with a lid with a grill to circulate the air.

    I love my 530s. The fact they come with 3yr of free data recovery is a nice bonus too. Although I have 2 in my system and I clone my boot drive to the other one every week, so... I don't use raid 1 for that purpose because I need to be able to fall back in case windows messes up my system with an update. Either way, I love my 530s. I paid more but hey, it was worth it. I also have 2 2tb z440s and love them. The TBW is amazing and they are good drives. They are in the church computer running all our presentation software and general use. I don't need the speed, just reliability.

    There is something you should know best of all and it's to NEVER test a piece of equipment on a computer that is connected to the internet at ANY TIME! Why?!?!.... Well as we all know, our modern computers are always seeking new updates for an app, an installed program, and sometimes to find new notifications and THIS will use your CPU, ram and make your tests inaccurate! So the best way to get perfect numbers would be to disable ALL notifications and updates for the time of the tests or simply use safemode! You're welcome!!!

    Never buy this ssd. This ssd was once popular in Korea, and there were a lot of articles later indicating the defect of the ssd. My Netac NV7000 also caused a fatal problem a few months ago I applied for a refund, but it was rejected, and I received a reply that only exchange was possible. I had to wait a month for an exchange and about 20,000 won was paid for international delivery. Western consumers speculate that more money will come out.

    Branded or non-branded, DRAM-less SSDs are garbage. And even if used as secondary data storage, why would I take a chance on the longevity of my files? I have absolute respect for things made in China but that's for things made with non-Chinese standards. From my recent experience with Lexar SD cards which was bought by a Chinese consortium back in 2017, Chinese brands will need years to earn consumer trust.

  • @Dr_b_
    @Dr_b_11 ай бұрын

    The reason why you don't want to use these: -Even though all the major companies that make SSDs have had problems, and bad ones, they have something to lose in our markets, so they will fix their problems, do testing to make sure the products work, and do RMAs if yours breaks -Don't buy products from Chinese companies when there are quality alternatives from other brands like Samsung/Solidigm/Micron or companies in Taiwan. The "West" is in a defacto cold war with China, don't give them resources that they will use to later attack you with. Its impossible to avoid all chinese made components and finished goods, at least for now, but there are alternatives to SSDs, and very good ones that aren't made there. All China does is steal tech from other companies and sell it back to us for a cheaper price, don't support that. -Its harder to measure reliability than performance, like what happens when the drive gets full, and stays there? What happens if it overheats? What happens when you fill up the drive, then delete everything, and refill it, 100 times? What happens when the drive reaches its maximum PE cycles?
