as for the cat pee situation, inappropriate peeing 9 times out of 10 is the cat being unhappy with their litter box, stress over territory, or they're sick. 1 box per cat plus 1! clean it regularly! consider their stress and if there are other cats upsetting them! take them to a vet if it's new behavior! I'm here for appropriate fish AND cat husbandry

Our cat does this anytime anyone besides me moves things around in 'her' basement (which is also my fish room). The little princess cannot abide 'her' area being defiled by my wife, much less someone who doesn't live here. She'll just boycott the basement, where her litter box is, until I come down and move the offending item somewhere. So weird. I can rearrange every tank in the basement, she doesn't care. My wife comes down and moves the table 2 feet so she can do yoga, 'I can't go down there.' Cats are definitely special creatures.

I had a 5 gallon cube for my Betta. I upgraded to a 5 long and was able to add more plants so I am happy. My Betta made a nest the next day in some of the plants the next day.

People do not seem to appreciate the long = swimming space… I kind of hate my 20 talls, but!!! They fit where I live so that matters too.

I have kept all kinds of fish, even corals and stuff...and bettas are still my fav fish in the aquarium hobby. So smart (for a fish), stunningly beautiful...lots of personality. I like how an ideal aquairium for them looks aesthetically. They are the perfect aquarium fish if they would just get the respect they deserve. I think we should be trying to push price and quality of the fish way up...I would happily pay $30+ for a betta...I am used to it with saltwater fish. Put them in healthy sized aquariums and charge more for them. They will look stunning as a bonus and attract more buyers. Cheap fish hurt the hobby.

The first tank, I'll say it's an upgrade. Is it perfect? Far from it, but at the end of the day they realised the betta needed more room and gave them that. Their other tank looks a lot nicer, I don't judge fake plants at all but it is nice when they look more realistic and not neon but hey, betta got more room and that's the main thing. Good on them

I agree! Real plants are much more to my taste, but they definitely did better for their fish! They even got it some toys.

qotw: I have to preface this with that while some kids were big into Greek mythology or pokemon, I was into learning everything about dog breeds and their histories. as a result my favorite dog breed is mutts. I think they're so much fun to work with and watch grow bc you never really know what you're getting and what genes will be expressed, even from the same litter.

Same with wire haired JRT's. So much in the blood from other breeds you never know what they will turn out like. Plus the fact that they were mutts to begin with. You can get a wide variety from the same litter, no 2 the same. Plus mutts and JRT's are far longer lived than pedigrees

Qotw: Miniature Poodle. My miniature poodle was so smart that he not only learned tricks but he also taught me signals so I knew what he wanted. I really felt like he understood everything I said. He was also very affectionate and loved being brushed. Got me through college and grad school. ❤

Favorite dog breed: Irish Wolfhounds. They're magic personified. Thanks for having Millie back hosting, and take care of that collar bone!

Keep a close eye on your two tanks- I accidentally got a breeding pair, and that two is now 4, with a potential 5th on the way

qotw- I'm definitely a small dog person, even more preferably an old small dog that likes to just be in a lap. I got my very first Chihuaha back in the day because I went to a house party and the owner had a little long haired one that he called Marty McFly. I hadn't even realized they came in the long haired option, and little dude was so chill and cute...when I finally moved into my own place, I tracked down local breeders (it was a long time ago y'all) to just "go and meet the puppies" and came home with one that same day. His name was Charlie and he was the very best dog I've ever had in my life, and I still miss him a lot. Only got 11 years with him :( I've fostered and rescued so many dogs over the years now, and I can't imagine my life without dog hair or half chewed toys, cold noses and warm laps.

When I was 10, I kept a betta with a small group of neon tetras and they got along really well. I actually looked in the tank one day and they were playing hide-and-seek! My female halfmoon last year used to school with the neons in her tank. (RIP Jasper, you were the best girl.) Some bettas love company. As for QOTW: I love most breeds of dogs, so it's impossible to pick just one, but my top five would have to be labs, pit bulls, corgis, pugs, and any hound. That said, mixed breeds are the way to go for longevity and companionship.

QOTW: Akita Inu (red) as it was the first dog that I have got as an adult. She was really lovely being. A bit asocial to other dogs, but that was because I was kind of asocial too. But I also adore nice small crossbreeds, as the very first dog I have cared for was this beautiful black "voříšek" (sorry for that czech word, it just describes the dog the best for me) from the dog shelter.

QOTW Dachshund! Full size specifically, 20-25 pound dog that loves walks in the woods, digging, swimming, and hunting. My late dog BJ lived for retrieving ducks and finding shed antlers. He lived to the age of 14. My guess is Beagle.

Gotta go with a Cairn Terrier. They don't have little dog syndrome, they are just massive dogs in tiny bodies. I swear, my mom's is a reincarnated Bancho or something - she just gives no f's. Also, great at pest control.

I feel like your favorite dog breed is a Bernese mountain dog… just a guess I would definitely say my all time favorite is a working line GSD but Belgium Malinos, Giant schnauzers, Beaucerons, European Dobermans, Dutch shepherds, and Airedale terrier are definitely on my list of dream working dog breeds.

Basenji? I have to guess something rare since my husband has me trained in the dog show world. My favorite breed is a Chihuahua. I never thought I would like them, but ended up with one when she ran in front of my husband's car and the owner gave her to us. She was perfect and now I have another perfect Chihuahua and will never be without them. They are like tiny German Shepherds with their personality, intelligence, and loyalty.

Late watching the Monday episode but still gonna answer. I'm a dog groomer. My favorite dog is a mini Aussie because they're adorable. They're scare to death of the world but they're so freaking cute.

On that betta tank, the aesthetic may be a nightmare to some of us, but it did look like the fake plants were the silicone ones which is a really good choice with long finned bettas and their fragile fins. Plastic can cut them up That cave might be too rough though, and it would be good to add some longer stuff-- having shelter further up the water column than just the bottom would be ideal. Also how many tetras did she add?

A good way to recover from a stomach bug! FFT making everything better! QOTW: Corgi! Had one for 14 years and she stole my heart, still miss her everyday ❤ And for a dog guess for you... Bulldog?

Cardigan or Pembroke?

My favourite dog breed is probably either rottweilers, standard poodles or Keeshonds. Rotties are goofy lumps until an intruder comes, standard poodles look so majestic and I love brushing their curly coats (it's very therapeutic), Keeshonds are high energy pups that I'd love to take on evening or morning cycle runs. Dog breeds that start with b... Beagle? Black lab? Boston terrier? Bernese Mountain Dog? I'm going with Bernese Mountain Dog since both of you like colder weather

My betta is totally the stereotype. He is ready to throw down with anything and everything. He flares and pecks at the water change tube. I dropped some boiled carrot in for the shrimp and he grabbed it and shook it!

I´m not sure, I´m not very experienced with dogs but I´ve spent the weekend with friends and one of them has a Jack Russel which is very playful, cute and likes to engage other people. My parents have had a red English Cocker Spaniel who was just the sweetest ever and they´ve also had a Friesian Stabyhoun who was beautiful and also very sweet.

I have bettas, one in a 5 gallon tank as the only fish, it is a new betta. The previous betta in the tank died, it was almost 4. There are also cherry shrimp, a nerite snail and a mystery snail. I also have a 16 gallon tank with a betta, two kuhli loaches, two nerites, 5 neons, and 7 amano shrimp. Third tank is an 8 gallon, awaiting arrival of a mustard gas betta. My bettas are not aggressive, the neons annoy the crap out of the betta. The 5 gallon was not cycled and I have had fewer issues than with the 16 gallon tank.

Too many great dog breeds to pick just one, but I have always had an especially soft spot for Collies, must be all those Lassie episodes I watching growing up.

You’re not gonna make me choose a favourite dog breed, you monster. But I’ll tell you that my last doggo was an Icelandic sheepdog, and he was gorgeous and funny. Good to see your injury slowly getting better even if it still hurts some. Hang in there. Also, guess who is almost done setting up her 250L faux blackwater. Cory concolor gang will be first in, can’t wait!

I was trying to talk my husband into an Icelandic Sheepdog. Everything I've heard about them sounds like they are great dogs. I like their size, and the fact that they haven't been recognized by the AKC for very long so haven't been overbred yet.

My favorite type of doggo is the Cavalier King Charles they come into work all the time and they're always so sweet and cute. 🥺

Favorite dog breed has to be poodles. Grew up with toy poodles and they're mega soft and very fun to play games with. The first tank is definitely an upgrade but I hope they replace the fake plants with real ones. I'm worried those plastic things will tear up the betta's fins. I don't personally have an issue with the nerds gravel and am interested in their rainbow path. It feels like a harmless splash of color to compliment the betta. Would look 10x classier and stand out more if they replace all those fake plants with some natural wood and java ferns. The contrast of white gravel-natural plants with the rainbow road center would be pretty interesting. Plus still give the fish comfy places to rest and hide.

QOTW: I love maby breeds, and until I got my current dog I didn't have a favourite breed. But now I do. Dachshund. My current dog is a miniature dachshund and is the friendliest dog I have ever seen. In fact, when I had her spayed, i opened the after care paperwork when I got home and someone at the clinic where I had the surgery done had written "She is adorable 😊" on the papers.

Favourite dog breeds. Small would have to be a chihuahua x shih tzu mix. Large breed Cane Corso. Coincidentally we live with an example of each.

QOTW favorite dog breed is a beagle 13" or Pitties. I love intelligent 🧠 dogs (can think for themselves/stubborn/good proplem solvers) that enjoy being active & know how to wrestle but can also be gentle and cuddle. I taught my last beagle to play soccer it was great fun! Other than sneaking out to visit the turtle pond she was an excellent dog.

I live with 5 cats and a temporary foster cat. I find it hard to believe that a cat would pee in an aquarium. Like another commentor stated, there's something going on if that true and kitty needs to see a vet ASAP. I used novelty tanks like the "purse" one in this video to grow out plants. It works well and looks nice in my small apartment. Once the plants are more established, I transfer them to one of my betta tanks. Favorite dog? I love herding and Northern dogs.

I have a male crowntail with 10 neons and 12 guppies in a 20 long. They get along just fine.

The only thing I'm really bothered by with the 10g upgrade is the filter. The fish will be fine with plastic plants and day glow gravel, as much as I hate to admit it. Sponge filter please 🙏

We have a Boxer and a Frenchie/Boston mix. We love bully breeds.

Okay, I gotta ask for a bit of clarification: the comment in the open says "if you can wash it in a sink" BUT, we have only ever been able to wash our tank, for a singular goldfish and plants, in our 50 gallon deep sink. It was a pain in the ass anytime we did, and we always had to empty first, but I do wanna get a certain yay or nay

My favourite is the beagle, got two of them and they are the silliest dogs around.

i have a betta community tank 23L tank at the minute ill be upgrading to a 50+ litre tank when I get the space for it , there are 8 Corydoras (1 albino, 3 peppered and 4 leopard) ,8 Harlequin Rasboras , a Red Lizard Catfish and a Veiltail Betta, it used to be a planted tank but something happened with the plants making the water awful and killing my first lot of Rasboras and a couple catfish , it was a really good looking planted tank but ive had to go for fake plants now

Qotw: This is tough. I guess I've really fallen in love with Samoyeds and any mastiff breed. I own a cane Corso and she's a delight.

Hey FFT, can you make a video about what websites are the best for buying fish online? I've been looking for a website to buy fish online but am not sure on which one is great. The reason is because some of the fish I want to try and buy are not available in any of my local pet stores like Fintique Tropical Fish or Papa Jim's Tropical Fish. Chris's favorite dog breed is the betta. Mine varies...but my dream dog is a Scottish Terrier!

I think plastic plants and things can look good, but not if you just plop them in. There's some cool arrangements you can make out of them if you cut them up and arrange them nicely.....the main issue is that's so expensive to buy all those fake plants, so I'm not going to try proving it to anyone, lol

My problem with fake decor and bright garish colours in a scape is that it always takes away from the colour of the fish. The dull muted tones of rock, wood, sand and plants make any bright fish pop!

my question to other fishkeepers is how many neons would be appropriate for such a 10 gallon tank with a betta fish? working on my first tank rn, so I could honestly use the advice.

I was at a reptile expo yesterday and saw a "Betta care kit". It had a tank that was HALF A GALLON. I was horrified.

Qotw: I like a lot of dog breeds, and many of the ones I meet are all pleasant. I do particularly like corgis and borzois. My guess for yours is Borzoi since that’s the first dog breed that I could think of that started with a b. Also the goldfish tank at the end reminded me of a horrible marketplace screenshot that I saw once. The person was selling their fishtank with the fish in it. The fishtank was filthy and I don’t think it was filled all the way. The size looked to be about 20-40 gallons, and in it was a bunch of fish including 2-4 large goldfish (close to koi pond size). If it was something close to me I would’ve taken it and rehomed the fish cause holy crap the setup was an actual nightmare. Definite -100/5

I tried a female betta sorority with my black neon tetras & 24k WCMs but the bettas harrassed my tetras. Now they are the Heathers (in separate tanks 5.5-10 gals).

What kind of fish are best suited for a ten gallon cube or similar, I have a 10 ish gallon bow front, so taller than long. I have white clouds, shrimp, and I was going to replace my betta that passed a few months ago

You should see my lace fern in my quarantine tank. It gets so overgrown that I have to half it every month. Do you need lace ferns🤣

My favorite dog is the chow-chow. I could never have a dog tho, because I like my things to stay as they are (no holes in my flowers, for example), and I want chickens, rabbits, cats, children, and a tortoise. Major incompatibility. Also where I live it's way too hot for a chow-chow Your favorite dog... I don't know much in dogs, but I'd say a shiba inu or a border collie !

My oldest fish is like a friggen $15 dollar mustard gas rose tail betta who lives in a 6.5g planted with friggen 3D printed tunnels so he can rest at the top with his heavy fins.

Qotw: I'm gonna guess... bichon frisé? ((What other B dogs are there... border collie, bulldog, boston terrier, bull terrier, basset hound, beagle... hmmm there's a lot, but I think I'm still gonna guess bichon.)) My fave is golden labs. They're so full of love and affection 24/7. It's so hard to pick a fave bc I love all dogs.

My favorite dog breeds are Doberman and Thai ridgeback.

Hello, I’ve never had a proper fish tank before but I would really like to. Im planning on getting a 10 gallon tank and either having one betta fish like in it or 10 chili rasboras. I’ve been watching alot of your videos and other fish KZreadrs to get a sense of what to do. Is there any resource I could use that’s like an extensive checklist of everything I need and do to keep the fish happy and healthy? Thank you! Any advice is appreciated

There's going to be like a whole battle in there if the betta is able to catch up. In that trash bag goldfish product, you can see the bubbles in the water. Does that say something?

Just going for a guess on your favorite dog breed based on the letter 'b': Bernese Mountain Dog? We own Icelandic Sheepdogs but are also very partial to Shiba Inu, Mini Dashes, and Corgis. So we can't say we have a 'fave' since there's way too many options!

thing is the person add stress zyme which basicly is fulled with benifly bacteria but they still shouldnt at least wait a few day for the bacteria to grow
