I guess the test I'd like to see you put it through is how well does it freeze liquid in motion. Like your photo at 5:46.

Thanks Scott, great content as always. Love the fact that you are constantly helping us to focus where we spend our hard earned cash & on being a profitable business rather than competing in the constant gear refresh & acquisition cycle.

Thank you so much for the time and effort spent reviewing this unit. I have the 1200 as well as the 600pro & 400pro. I recently rented a broncolor siros for a fashion shoot and used it with the 1200 & 400 for an ecommerce setup. They all worked brilliantly together. I've been super happy with the 1200 and know that for the jobs that don't have a rental budget, I can deliver the quality I need. For the bigger jobs, the Siros paired with the 1200 was a great setup with my Rotalux modifiers. It's great to know that someone a bit further in their career has come to the same conclusions. Thanks again!

Ive had 2 of these for about 2 years so I know them well. They are great lights and have never put a foot wrong. Couple of inaccuracies in your video. You now know there is an AC adapter. Also, minimum flash duration is 10860 at the lowest power 1/256. At a more useable 1/32, minimum duration is 1/5120 and at 1/8 it is 1/2300 which won't freeze motion and definitely not liquid. The new mains powered Godox QT1200IIM has a minimum flash duration of 1/28984! This will certainly freeze dancer movement and liquid splashes. I'm investing in a couple of these for studio work thus going against the notion that the AD1200 is the only light you need!

This is my first light from this brand and already made such a huge difference with my workflow. I’m looking to buy another one and definitely keeping my eye out for the 2400 once I see more reviews and on job usage and examples.

I’m really waiting to see how the Godox P2400 does. It is suppose to be even more professional with dual strobe head connections cable of 2400ws in single and in dual head setup. Plus it’s only AC powered with a Profoto like display. It is almost double the size of the AD1200. I have 3 Profoto D2 and considering switching when it’s available.

It’s amazing that in all this years Broncolor have not updated the Move 1200L not even to add TTL, not to increase power , not to improve recycle time: nothing

It’s amazing that Broncolor have not upgraded the Move 1200 in any meaningful way : not to add TTL, not to improve porque or recicle time it’s amazing. Back in 2014 it was basically the same stuff. Clearly back in 2015 was super innovative. In fact in other to have a half decent remote control they have to ask Godox for help. Talking about remotes the super expensive Profoto remote can’t tell the actual power of the units. At least Profoto is trying to compete and introducing o innovative products. Very good video!!!

It's a great light. I have the Elinchrom ELB1200 also and I prefer the Godox for everything except bright bright daylight. Then the HS of the Elinchrom really helps out.

I recently picked up this light under the Godox label. It works well with my other Godox (AD400Pro) and a few Godox triggers for speedlights. I also grabbed the AC adapter for the AD400Pro so I don't have to worry about a battery running out of juice mid-shoot. No complaints as of yet. (Side note, even though I finished college in 1995, through some research I learned that my Alumni status gives me a pretty nice discount at certain retailers. Worth a few questions if people are interested in new kit. Ask your alumni association.)

I'd been wanting one of these, but now I'm holding out for the 2400 Pro! Adorama finally priced the 2400 Pro with two heads kit at $6,200 USD! I am just so amazed at how low cost it is. It is an almost line by line replica of the Profoto Pro-11's specs/capabilities, and the Pro-11 is 17 grand just for the pack. Not sure when I'll afford the 2400 Pro, but it will SO HAPPEN!

Scott, did I just hear in an interview that you've figured out how to mains power this power pack ??? If so, please share that bit of info. It could truly send me in the direction of the AD1200 Pro. **** Follow up: the AC adapter is indeed available. Not all camera retailers carry it though. Retail in Canada is $225.

Thanks for that short review 👍. I shoot dance and use a Broncolor system (SirosL mostly). I would like to boom a big light overhead, but can't justify the Bron Move pack expense. I'll try to find out how compatible the systems are: my Bron triggers are made by Godox, for starters..... There's probably some adapter for the modifiers, right?

We have 6 Profoto D4 packs and around 19 D4 heads in our studio - half of it bought second hand - problem is when something goes wrong it's seriously expensive to fix and this system is now becoming obsolete. I now have to spend 10-12K to buy Profoto pack and it's a different system. Kudos to Godox for launching into this market - would be interested to know if there is anywhere to repair these if they go wrong. With the other Godox lights we have (Ad200's and Ad600's) we can pretty much just buy a new one as they're so cheap.

Essentially a re-do of the Elinchrom Ranger Rx with a single flash head outlet, lithium battery and LCD display. Function wise, the Elinchrom Ranger RX offers more with two flash head outlets, no fan, near identical full power recycle time and equally short flash duration with the "A" short duration strobe head at similar power levels. ~Know flash duration has become a Foto strobe marketing moniker, the laws of Physics dictate this aspect of strobe/flash performance and it is always a trade-off. Know the Elinchrom ranger RX can be easily updated by remove and replace the OEM sealed lead acid battery with a current Lithium LiFePO4 battery, direct install, uses the same charger, functionally getter and lower weight (Ranger RX with a modern lithium LiFePO4 battery weights in at 5Kg). Adding a Pocketwizard wireless set up gains camera controlled flash much the same as more modern strobe units with wireless connect built in. This Godox AD1200 is new, the Elinchrom Ranger RX is decades old yet function wise they are far more similar than different with the Elinchrom Ranger RX having the advantage of two strobe head outlets and well proven harsh weather durability and reliability. Performance -vs- value wise the Elinchrom Ranger RX with a Lithium LiFePO4 battery upgrade has the advantage over the Godox AD1200. BTW, these 1,200 watt/second strobe units are often not nearly enough power for view camera sheet film work. This is where several thousand watt/seconds were daily common back in those sheet film days.

I was intrested in the light, but I looked the watt second to get 1/40000 of a second was 75 watts. Say what the hell! They can't even copy the broncolor right. I'll pass.

To get 1/8000th on broncolor the power has to be pretty low. There is a brand I am talking to though that does it better than broncolor and profoto so if I can arrange the right insurance for the kit, ill make some videos.

I was sick when I wrote this. so . what I was trying to say was the flash duration of 1/4000 of a second gets to be about 75 watts. You might be able to use a modifier, but 75 watts won't be much power to use. So yes, Scott in a latter video go into in depth some of the features that you use.
