    I love mine! I picked up at Adorama on special for $1300 with the extra warranty. But i have gone out during harsh sunny days at noon and taking phenomenal photos that are well lit at f1.4 and the background is not overexposed. I always tried to avoid taking pictures from 11 AM to 4 PM. But now I have the power to overcome that harsh sun. But now I have the power and flash speed to get those great action shots I do for my senior portraits and sports. I was using 2 ad600’s with some effort they turned out great. But now ad1200 pro makes the job effortlessly. When I’m out on location, I usually throw the battery controller in my foldable wagon and just leave it next to my light stand. And then moving from one location to the next just pull the lights stand back out and leave the battery in the wagon, it makes it much easier to move with. I love the flashpoint/godox lights. Haven’t had any issues with any misfires and they’re always dependable. Great video.

    Thanks Adorama expanding this affordable yet quality flashpoint flash line. After all...all of us can’t afford to get ProFoto. It’s nice to have a realistic option.

    I have no use for a light like this, don't need it at all, but because Dave is so excited about it, I feel like it needs to be part of my kit🤔. Looks like a great light if you have a purpose for it.

    Considering how much I am shooting in horrid midday light, been looking at this since its release here. This is easily the best video covering it. The points on motion capture are rather important considering I do a lot of dance. If only I could talk the local supplier into giving me one "to test" (indefinitely).

    For $1,600 it better be that awesome! I would have like to see more shots of freezing the action on the volleyball player. A subject moving that fast would show the flashes true capabilities. Love Adorama learning center BTW 😁

    I have one. And I also have 3 Elinchrom elb1200s. I took 2 of the Elinchroms elb1200s out the other day instead of using the Flashpoint ad1200pro. Because of the power drop when hss kicks in. Elinchrom uses HS. And doesn't lose power. So I still get 1200watts at 4000th and 8000th. With hss the Flashpoint ad1200pro drops to 400watts. Which wont allow me to kill the background light of bright sun like I want. I also wish it had twin head ability. I like it, and the reliability and ease of use of transmitters blows Elinchrom away. I just wish we had HS ability so we keep all that wonderful power.

  • @DavidBergmanPhoto

    @DavidBergmanPhoto

    The Elinchrom has some cool technology, but you need separate heads to get both HS and a fast flash duration. You can't do both with the same head. It's also a LOT more expensive. The Flashpoint is a much more versatile and accessible system for most photographers - especially if you're already in the Flashpoint system and want to step up to more power.

    @@DavidBergmanPhoto Very true. Godox had said before the ad600pro was to have HS. And then for some reason didn't put it in. They helped Broncolor get HS working on their Move L 1200 watt pack which gets speed and HS done with just one head and their Siros monolights. Just wish they'd put it in the more powerful flashes. Hss is great, but killing 2/3rds of the power stinks. But I understand why. Recycling to fire the multiple flashes needed for HSS takes time. A ND filter solves it but can make focusing more difficult for the camera. Godox has the technology. They just keep hearing people want hss. Even Elinchrom went to hss for their new smaller ELB 500s. And they are already dropping the ELB1200 for what's sounding like a hss version. Big mistake. I have 2 of the elb500 and although they're a great flash, Flashpoint/Godox beat the pants off them. Better connectivity, control, and transmitters. Not to mention flashes per battery. And for Durability I've had the Elinchroms apart. They aren't built that durable All that's missing from Flaspoint/Godox line is big professional powerpacks. Their ac powered qt2 is awesome. But for commercial pro use you look for even more power. Amazing time for lighting. Can't wait to see how far Flashpoint/Godox push it.

    David, great video & looks like a fantastic strobe. If you are in a studio and you want to do the traditional portrait shot with a Main, a fill, a hair light & a background light how many strobe heads can you hook up at one time?

    The 1200 is one pack / one head. I'd recommend the Flashpoint eVOLV 200 TTL Pocket Flash for secondary lights in the studio. It'll work seamlessly with the 1200 in the R2 system and is great to have as a main when you don't need all that power. www.adorama.com/fplfev200.html?kbid=66043

    This is an illustration of why the new technologies that allow 35mm digital cameras to sync at high speed are good. Clearly one can peek a Hasselblad and do 1/4000 of a second a be happy, but it's an expensive kid.

    That lens is 5.6 at the long end and I wanted a fast shutter speed, so I needed to bump my ISO to have the correct ambient exposure. With a camera like the Canon 1dx Mark III, I won’t hesitate to push my ISO up because it still looks awesome.

  • @jerrym8140

    @jerrym8140

    4 жыл бұрын

    I would think you could if you put your canon flashes in a slave mode so that they will fire when they see another flash go off. May not work very well outside especially in bright conditions as well as it would in a studio.

  • @dbc97610

    @dbc97610

    Sure. Either set it up as an optical slave. Or get a Flashpoint/Godox receiver to put the Canon speedlite on. That will let you control the Flashpoint/Godox & Canon lights from the remote that David uses in the video.

  • @DavidBergmanPhoto

    There are three ways you can go. 1) For full control of all flashes from the camera without losing any functionality, get a Flashpoint receiver for each of the Canon strobes www.adorama.com/fprrr2rc.html?kbid=66043 2) Cheaper way to go is to put an optical “peanut” on each Canon flash, but you have to change manual settings from the flash itself and can’t use HSS. 3) You can use your existing Canon RT transmitter (either the ST-E3-RT, or another RT flash, or compatible pop-up flash from camera), and use the built in optical on the XPLOR 1200. I did a video about some of this recently here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fY2Jw9ptirzKgsY.html

    Pack looks larger the Elinchrom, lost of power with HSS vs Full power with Hi-Sync, don’t know if it has a docking station like Elinchrom for AC Power. At $1,600 just pick up the Elinchrom ELB 1200, better design and more features.

  • @DavidBergmanPhoto

    As I said below, the ELB has some nice tech, but you need two heads to get both HS and a fast flash duration. You can't do both with the same head. It's also three times the price if you get both heads. The Flashpoint is a much more versatile and accessible system for most photographers - especially if you're already in the Flashpoint system and want to step up to more power.
