    Great stuff , I like to see a bit of inner child , the scorpion exhaust looks and sounds great , great to hear you didn’t try to low ball the guy , paying the proper price , it always pays and obviously the guy was proper gent , i remember sending you a message when you first got the monkey , telling you your going to love it , yeah I’ve big bikes , but mini bikes are a riot , the groms is the best road bike just,monkey is a riot , benelli tnts are amazing too , my monkey , yoshimura rs3 , groms Leo vince twin exhausts , yes their expensive but their strong benellis sc projects exhausts , I had cheaper exhausts on the groms , which looked the part but eventually snapped just not the thickness of metal and those systems were £300 each , lesson learned pay for quality , 🏍🏍👍👍

    Great video and really appreciate what you're saying. But am I the only one that actually likes the sewing machine sound of the stock bike? I bought a new 2023 Monkey and love it. Spent loads on suspension and bling bits but then stopped at swapping the exhaust and intake. Mainly 'cos I couldn't find an exhaust that was either full on ASBO or same as stock. Maybe it's 'cos I live in a quiet part of England and our idea of busy is 3 cars and a tractor on the way to work. Maybe thats it. Each to their own. If I lived in a city and wanted to make sure I was seen and heard in traffic I'd want a louder exhaust and I do love the sound of a silky straight 6, booming V8 or an old twin or big single. I've got a couple in my garage. But the Monkey is a lovely little bike for wandering around on (slowly😁😁) and making the rider and people around them smile with them.. In my experience loud exhausts often just make people glare and dogs bark so I'll stick with the stock sewing machine sound and smiles that I get when I'm riding it.

  • @SamVBikes

    @SamVBikes

    6 ай бұрын

    Haha I didn't mind the sound of the stock one but I've used it a few times going into London and having a near-silent bike is asking for someone to not be aware of your presence - especially on something so small. I agree with you though, most are too loud or just sound the same. This for me is a good middle ground

We’re big fans of the XCP, and I’m also a fellow Scorpion user ( I always thought I’d left my baffle in but big bad John whipped it out months ago and didn’t tell me….). Scorpion are really nice people too, had lots of dealings with them over the years. Quality British engineering. If I lived next door to you, the exhaust would not be an issue. (Obviously all the other “stuff” you get up to would be the real issue. Seriously, why would you wear a gas mask while mowing the lawn?) Keep up the good work!

    @@SamVBikes I did take the Chimera off and just used the stock intake tube and adapted the K&N to it, it is the same diameter and tie wrapped the air temp sensor to the out side of the intake tube. It is much quitter and feel the bottom end torque is better. I do not ride in the rain so it is not a problem, I am 80 now and me and rain do not get along and put small filters on the breather tubes, much better. Did not know the intake would easily come out of the air box. Just did that to make adjusting the intake valve easier. Could have saved $160 but, live and learn. Will not change out the exhaust unless there is a low one that is the same decibels. Seen many comparisons and they do not increase horse power or torque, just more noise. Did install the T-REX center stand and windshield. Thanks for your reply. Interesting videos.

    "Best exhaust"? All options, including the one you went with, are absolutely hideous IMO and don't fit neither the original styling and nature of the Monkey, nor look decent. IMO, the best looking exhausts are as followed, the SP Takegawa Scrambler(they also have the "Sport" which mimics stock), the Kitaco Nihondashi, the Magic Powered "Rocky", the Akrapovic twin, the Yoshimura Cyclone if you want that classic low look instead of the Scrambler look of stock, as well or the Moriwaki Megaphone or even SP Takegawa Tornado for the knockoff, but less pretty Yoshi/Moriwaki classic look, the Hot Lap Trail, the Outex, the Cherry Shorty, the Deus, even the AR twin exhaust....these "new style" short slip-ons, long upswept Japanese style slip-ons (with large silencers), and everything else looks terrible.... it's meant to be a little trails bike/Scrambler, or can be easily made look like a similar Cafe or classic UJM....these exhausts everyone are slapping on there with zero research or care for style is killing me 😅🤮 Edit: for cleaning titanium exhaust, I've found a spray of WD40 on a microfiber is absolutely the best way to clean it, I clean my TSR(Technical Sports Racing Japan) full exhaust for my CBR1100XX before every ride and it wipes away everything and anything ridiculously easy.

  • @SamVBikes

    @SamVBikes

    Best exhaust for me, yes. Obviously there are a vast amount of options on the market, but if you take the points I make in the video as to what I'm looking for, they can be applied to pretty much every option you've said are better. The Scrambler exhaust does look good but is too loud for me, and the pipes look far too small for my liking. Most of the others you mentioned are not available in the UK, so would be liable for heavy import tax, and are also mostly more expensive, meaning I'd end up spending over double the cost of a new Scorpion, triple in some cases. Some of them are underslung, and/or upswept which won't work for the off road. A few of the ones you mentioned look like a cheap, eBay special, which I could make them in my garage with some cheap metal. So yes... we all have different opinions.. doesn't mean they are wrong, or have zero research or care for style.
