I love this, the blue compliments it and almost gives it a rusted look without being rust, then the base is incredible. I just really want to paint this also does the carnitas pack come with two since I’d be excited to see how you did the second one. Your also the most underrated channel I’ve seen for such skilled work and unique style with. The oils on Angron of vashtorr

Thank you Ryan! This video took me a while to finalise... The actual model was going to look faaaaar different! But the base was surprisingly the most relaxing part of this build.
I can't make a Carny look that good... So, in true Tyranid fashion, I'll go with quantity over quality! Jokes aside, mad props for an amazing paint job!

Thank you Vox! I was playing your "FLESH NOOSE" and "MACRERGATE INSTINCT" while painting this figure. Great inspiration. A side note, I also had your "WRATH OF KHARN" playing on constant loop when designing and kitbashing my Kharn. Safe to say I am a massive fan of your work. I have always wanted to reach out and advocate my fandom but I was hesitant in the beginning. But I would love to stay in touch.

I'm confused why you'd only make a video about painting this. The sculpting on this is subtle but superb, I'd very much like to see what it looks like without any basecoat. Is it all sculpted over the normal plastic, or are some parts (like the head) entirely custom made?
Great work. Makes me very tempted to get some water effects and resin for mode aquatic bases.

Thank you Tyler! In this series of the Tyranids, I'll be keeping the theme of a swampy world. So there will be plenty more water bases to tempt you in the future! This was the first time I had used resin, it was really easy and really fun to watch it come to life!

the model looks different from a standard carnifex, is it a kitbash or a third party carnifex. If so, where did you get it from :) ?

Thank you Frozen! I must of stripped and repainted this model 5 times! It was initially going to be another colour scheme but I couldn't get it to work.
Very nice! Could have done a different leg pose imo, to make it stand out even more
would I be able to use streak and grime for red hulls instead of that mixture of oil and starship filfth. If so which streak and grime would be best
is that carnifex is not a gw carnifex?!! looks way cooler, where did you get her??

What cutting mat are you using with the base sizes?

The cutting matt I use is A2 size. Generic black one from Amazon!
Hello! By any chance, do you sell your 3D design somewhere? Really worth it^^
where can I get that model!?
For the love of the Hive queen, why not using a masking tape or a plastic tape to seal itinstead of the card and vaseline? Great tuto btw.
@NuHue
Жыл бұрын
The masking tape I had to hand was waayyy to soft, nothing would stick. I couldn't find anything suitable so I resorted to some art card! Still worked a treat. What I'll be doing in the future is getting some 1mm plastic card so I can do the full bases properly

First comment, first in the seat, first to click the notification!
tail tip is weirdly consistent its just blue and only blue
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a LOT of your underpainting was just completely lost, especially on the rib cage where pretty much everything went to shambles when you air brushed the blue on. Not a big fan of that, it is otherwise rather "grimdark" and this kinda doesn't fit in my opinion. On the drybrushing, this is very interesting and i haven't seen that before. I might try this aswell. Overall very nice job, like it a lot!
@NuHue
Жыл бұрын
Great comment! The underpainting is not completely lost, granted the majority is covered which is intended, but the undercoat is there to shift the paints colour range depending on the opacity placed. This takes place as the paint dries. The video doesn't do it much justice because I can't get close enough to display it, but to the keen eye up close you can see it and this gives the illusion of more colours used. I'll give you that, I should of taken a little bit more care when dealing with the blue on the ribs, it did overpower. (fingers crossed I can nail it better for the next bug!) It teeters on the boundaries of what some may consider grimdark... While I do enjoy grimdark I do still like to somehow capture some bold flare with it. Otherwise, all Grimdark paintings pretty much look the same! It's not to everyone's taste, but this is art after all! Everything has a taste and not everyone will like the result. Thank you for the comment! I do appreciate the in-depth approach. I do hope to see you around more often!

@@NuHue makes sense, it's probably harder to tell on a monitor than in real life. Yeah, it's not completely gromdark, with all muted colors and waaaay too much wash (as it is normally portrayed) but is also far from poppy GW style, so a nice middle ground i'd say! I will stick around for sure, you seem to have some refreshing ideas ;)
@NuHue

@@andreashuber5594 It can be... I am trying to work on getting some crisper shots but its a challenge! I'm glad you said a "nice middle ground", I'll settle on that! Awesome!!! Very happy you found us!
the blue ruins it for me. maybe having it more muted and applied in a earlier layer for the soft tissues only but especially on the carapace it looks completely out of place. more like weird verdigris.
