Since people keep writing "bonzai" let me clarify. Banzai is the correct term which literally means "live 10 thousand years" but is used more casually to mean "yeah!" or "wahoo!" or "rock on!" Bonsai (literally "planted in a container") is a miniature tree. Bonzai is skipjack tuna. The more you know... Good video BTW; will be there next week.

Very well done, Spike! Good pace and very cinematic. Really gave us a nice tour of an AMAZING tiki bar. Still love watching you and your guests making awesome cocktails back at the Breezeway, but these kinds of shows really open things up and keep it fresh. Kudos! (Love to see you do one of these for Strongwater!)

WOW. 😮 As a KZread viewer I’m blown away by Tiki Tatsuya. I can imagine the experience of being there in person is 10x greater. I want cocktails served to me on a boat with liquid nitrogen now. This video, and what they’re doing at Tatsuya, are super rad! Thanks again, Spike!

This is now a must-see-and-visit if my wife and I are ever in Austin! You absolutely had it right when you called it Disney-level escapism. If only I could simply “will” a place like this into existence closer to home in Toronto!!

Great video Spike! I made a Daiquiri with your breezeway blend, and it was awesome! I also made an Italian Zombie with your Breezeway Blend and some Hamilton Pot Still Black tonight. They were both unreal. I have a feeling the 3 bottles of the Breezeway blend will go fast

I’ll be in Dallas in a few days and I’m planning on visiting Swizzle there. Super excited as my first ever Tiki Bar

Tiki Tatsuya is fantastic. Absolute gem in Austin.

Have family in Austin and took them there last summer when i was visiting. Probably the best tiki escapism bar I've ever been to, so far it's my favorite. Was little overwhelming for my dads wife who has early stage Alzheimer's, but after we got those bonzai shots (also complimentary since our table wasnt ready when we for our reservation), she easied into it and loved the food. My brother is opening his own elevated truckstop style restaurant/bar next week in Austin (called Busty's) and cant wait to go back in a few months for both Busty's and Tiki Tatsuya

I was just there last week! Great place. It was my first visit to an american tiki bar. (I’m from Denmark)

The hot towel is called an "oshibori" and it's a common thing at Japanese bars and restaurants when you sit down.

Just wanted to add that I have a theory about the towels. The street facing side of the bar is disguised as a travel agency. It’s one of their sub-themes. So maybe the hot towels are like the ones they would hand out in first class on a plane?

Nah, it's just a Japanese hospitality thing. An oshibori when you sit down is common at bars and restaurants in Japan.

This place looks like a physical manifestation of all the AI tiki bars everyone keeps posting. As surreal as most tiki bars look this looks the most… surreal-est. Can’t think of another word. My mind is blown!

We did a “tiki-crawl” in Austin and Tiki Tatsu-Ya was our final stop. We actually stood in line at the restaurant underneath it and had to be shown where the entrance was. It’s one of my favorite tiki experiences in Texas.

It's kind of an eclectic mix of surfy Asian exotica kind of stuff... plus more modern garage and like, hip hop beats (if I'm remembering correctly). It definitely didn't take me out of it.

But did you experience the bathroom story time narrated by Sam Elliott???

Spoiler alert: Yes. Yes, it is. There are excellent tiki experiences in Houston, DFW and even El Paso (!) but Tiki Tatsu-ya is in a class by itself.
