We just got one of these not too long ago in the PNW (Washington State). It is pretty fun and I find myself out there once a week. I do have some issues with it not picking up higher shots during poorer weather and in the evening. But it is a nice tool and playing a virtual game is fun.

Just been to trafford and was amazed to be charged £8 to use a top tracer bay and that was time limited to an hour. The balls at Trafford are expensive enough in itself. £18 for a 1 hour range session. The other top tracer range I went to at leeds didn't charge to use the bay. Presumed that was the case at all top tracer ranges.

Do you have any installation in Manila? Where is the nearest place you have this system?

Cool idea but as was mentioned earlier there has to be an option to hit premium balls in order to accurately get distances. Maybe not specific balls but at least a mix of urethane covered as they’re all pretty similar especially compared to range balls.

Jacob McCain the one I went to had normalized yards as well as actual yards and it was definitely accurate

I'm sure you can hit your own pro v1 balls on to the range. Just be sure to wear a helmet when you want to go and retrieve them.

My local club charges £5 per hour to use top tracer plus £15 for 100 balls. How does that compare to everyone else? Feels expensive to me…..

Are the mats lined up straight or how do you know where straight is if that makes sense. Talking about target line

  • @lukethompson8295

They have this at my local range and it’s really good. There’s loads of targets you can select on the range and one of them will line up with the mat. That’s then your target line which the tracer measures against and you just hit away. Also the data saves on the app so you can look at it afterwards, take out the bad shots so it doesn’t skew the averages etc

How do you account for the wide levels of quality in range balls. Some are decent and some are real duds.

Great product for fun but as stated with Todays Golfer and MyGolfSpy the technology is there but your practice is only as good as the range balls ie your yardages will still need to be with a net as range balls are so different from your "real" time golf balls!!! Your thoughts to how you are going to provide the amateur golf a pro experience! Your thoughts! Ie we are not sponsored and cannot use PRO V1 / X s or similar on a range!!! Will be interesting to hear your thoughts now or for the future! Thanks Craig Nb Maybe a comparison yardage chart for range ball vs real balls with different swing speed (driver / irons) and then wedges (full swing)????

Craig Edga4r the top tracer range I went to had actual yards and then normalized yards as well ... I barely paid attention to actual yards. I thought it was fairly accurate tbh

Are you a driving range goer Craig? Because when you enter these places you know things are not going to be like real golf. The mats aid strike and ball speed, the balls aren’t your usual ones that you play with, there is alignment aids on the mats, the lienis always flat etc etc. Top tracer is making driving ranges more fun, interactive and I found the gap testing decent enough (within a couple of yards). This figure is acceptable for any golfer other than the ones who do it for a living. Top tracer appeals to the masses and isn’t that what everyone keeps banging on about “grow the game” I can only talk about my experience with Trafford range balls but they proved adequate

At my local Toptracer range, they bump up the figures by a percentage to account for range balls. I would say that the results are accurate within a few yards. Considering that a bucket of balls costs a fiver, that is incredible value compared to a standard range without Toptracer. 'Real' balls at a driving range will never happen because they cost too much money, and are far less durable compared to range balls.

No spin rate, no clubhead speed. I pay about $15-25 for a session at the local range. Top end of that range is 1hr with 100 balls.

Range balls are always the downfall to getting accurate numbers. And with some limited range areas -% balls are common so be aware
