Thanks for the review. Been eyeing these!
Many thanks for the review. Have been seriously considering picking up one of these.
Purchased the SC4 in December and I'm very pleased with the results. The local indoor golf range uses Topracer Range technology and the numbers are very close between the SC4 and Top racer. Today. A golfer next to me asked about my SC4, he was interested and I referred him to your youtube channel for more information.
I got the SC300 and it's still going hard after like 5 years. But club path and attack angle would be handy to have.
I'd love to see a comparison of the SC300, SC300i, SC4 numbers side by side.
no one gonna talk about the thumbnail of 327 yards with is lob wedge 🤣 funny shit !
I’ve never had a launch monitor, but I ordered one of these this morning. Great review.
Banger content.. thanks Matt
Thank you for the review! Exactly what I was looking for! If you need to get rid of the SC you tested I would be happy to take it off your hands. Thanks again and keep making the best golf videos around.
I like the design and ease of use of the new unit. I had the SC300 and it was good up to about 250 yards but for Driver I never found it close to accurate. Was better on flat lies and pretty close on irons up to about 6 iron. After that it would get a little wonky and I found higher differences. Maybe the new SC4 is more accurate.
Great review, this information is very useful for club golfers like me, now I am hooked to get one - in addition to the range trackman we have.....on our range.....always wondered how far do i carry different clubs from the fairway....or rough :)
I’ve had the SC300i for a while now and have tested it in much the same way you have tested the 400 in this video. I find it struggles most when there are elevation changes between where you take your shot and the landing spot. The shot you took with the mound right in front of you is a perfect example of when I think the radar would get thrown off. Another thing I’m wondering is if the SC line measures the forward distance or the radial distance from the device. Thoughts?
Good stuff! Thanks
Love your videos and love the review on this product. Did you hook it up to your big screen instead of just on your phone? Would you recommend to use this to set up a little golf studio hitting range?
With the SC300i I have found that it is more accurate outdoors. I would imagine that is pretty standard for radar launch monitors. Inside with a net there might not be enough room for the monitor to accurately measure every statistic.
Hey!!! Thank you your review, a pretty thorough one! Might buy one through your link soon! 🙌
Great real world stuff as always…do you know if you can attach it to earphones so the distance isn’t being broadcast to the rest of the range?
I have an SC4. as a beginner golfer its great to see how im doing so i can improve before buying an expensive driver. my swing speed is around 70mph with my driver.
Excellent review.
I don’t care what they say about you, you’re THE MAN!!😂

Great work and entertainment value as always….creeping up on 500k in followers!
I traded my SC300i for an SC4 using the trade-in program. I figured for the price it was worth a shot. What I saw was the swing speeds seemed pretty close, the spin seemed a bit high, the carry distances for the irons were a bit short while the total distances were a bit long. Driver carry, ball speed and spin were close, but total distance was a bit long. Now that I know what it’s tendencies are, it somewhat useful in testing and it beats carrying around a Bushnell or Foresight LM at the range or on the course.
Great review! Looking for one that is reasonably accurate but easy to use outdoors. How do we upgrade the firmware if we have a SC4?
Mr SG, would be nice if you could compare it with the Rapsodo Mlm 2 outdoors too. Thanks
did you adjust the loft for the clubs in SC4 settings?
Incredible and thorough review! Have you tried the Garmin R10? Just wondering if one is better than the other
When hitting into a net, Is the launch directon alone pointless without path and clubface measures? As in it could launch straight but hook ferociously?
Have been using the SC4 privately, and like the data (also compared against the pro stuff like Trackman which we have through the pro's). Big (BIG) gripe I have with the product is the horrendous App, which does not in any way allow customization of your bag. You can rename the driver and the other clubs, but you have to cycle through all the Woods - i.o.w. if you have only the D1 and FW3 in your bag, you still need to cycle through the W4.W5,W6,W7 to get back to the D1. The bag has a star behind each club in your (virtual) bag, but you can't 'unstar' any. You might think this is a 'minor' issue, but it's not: it's a major issue when you are on the range. Other issues are the need to connect with the app to the SC4 through Bluetooth manually each time, so no autoreconnect when opening the app. The app truly needs an update.
Can you compare the SC4 vs SC 300? I’d like to know if I should upgrade my SC 300.
Does it film well using the built in camera?
I noticed you using that Ping Hoofer (or maybe it’s the crazy lite?) bag! I have been shopping for a new stand bag and don’t like the style on the new ones but love the model you’re using. Is it from 2020?
I went with the SC4 because I wanted a LM for use on the range. The Rapsodo isn't suited to that as you need to use special balls and the R10 requires more distance (to place the unit behind where you hit) than what my range offers. So for me it was a no brainer. The R10 doesn't measure side spin either but it does calculate it, maybe some of you "influencers" could influence SC to update the SC4 to add that... :D If I were building a simulator, I would spring for something better. As a beginner looking for basic data while at the range, the SC4 is fantastic. With regards to accuracy, proper distance, leveling, direction etc. make a pretty big difference. I just got a net and I'm a bit concerned about using it because this unit doesn't read side spin. I'm curious as to your thoughts on that. Love the channel and especially all the club tours!

Need a camera based LM if you wanna measure side spin.
@matthewjcherry3

@@matt-365golfdesign if you want to measure it directly, yes. But why not use an algorithm like the Garmin R10? Sure, it won’t be as accurate, but it will give you a sense of shot shape.
@matt-365golfdesign

@@matthewjcherry3 the R10 and all other radar LMs use club data information to estimate side spin. It can work OK if you hit center of the face all the time but will be bad on toe and heel strikes. Trackman does the same thing when used indoors. I'm in a golf sim community and many people who get an R10, later upgrade to a more capable camera LM. This is all mainly for indoors because the ball flight is only like 10ft. Outdoors, the radar units see more of the flight so they can work better. I have an R10 as well as a couple camera LMs. It can show the relative shot shape but typically underestimated. So the R10 might show a draw when in reality it's a big hook. And it can show a draw when you actually hit a fade because it can't accurately predict sidespin if you hit the heel or toe. Having said all that, the R10 does a good job at only $600.
Cool video. I think a lot more accurate than my Garmin R10. But it doesn’t matter. I’m super happy with that one. Q. Can you do a video comparing phone launch monitors? I think there’s two or three. I think with all the new cameras in phones, they should be getting some swingspeed & ballspeed correctly, right?
🔥🔥🔥
Both systems if they're using a doppler radar, can interfere with one another causing inaccurate numbers, especially on indoor mode.
I have an SC300 and i hit into a net and sometimes I bring it to the range if i get a chance to take my time. But i really enjoy it!!! I was looking at an upgrade, this SC4 looks stunning
You had it on the driving range setting hitting pro V1s and playing inside and outside. Both are gonna have skewed distances because range balls, as we all know, do not go as far. So it’s compensating. He did not use this properly and I just thought y’all should know this is a great product when you use it correctly.

Jake, are you saying there a setting on this SC4 for range balls vs real balls? That compensates by adding yardage?
BTW... the beginning transition of the SC4 being opened in the air made me chuckle; nice lol
I`m wantin it for my garage only, n 2 a net. Is this good 4 me?
How's the left and right readings?
How will this be on the range & dialing in yardages?
Sooo…if recommending this…don’t know how you don’t mention the garmin R10 or the Rapsodo mlmpro2 as options in the same price category. Love your stuff, just thought talking about the competition would be relevant for this video.
I just use my swingU app when playing my game on course and it track all my club distances. And you just need your own phone and app.. 😊.

What’s ur carry distances thooo
The Sc4 doesnt measure side spin. For on course and at the range it would be a good unit. The sc4 is capable of golf simulation and thats where it comes up a bit short. It can see spin so in simulation it wont show hooks and slices properly. For practicing inside or playing a sim round wouldn't be accurate. I hope we as consumers start letting these companies know we want measured spin axis. I think they will get there in the future. Thanks for the video.

Yes when I use the forsite sports monitor at work the side spin right to left and attack angles are so helpful. These numbers are great after a lesson or when making grip/swing changes.
The sc300i can now be had for $299 when on sale. I am considering that for this season. Wathcing reviews, I'm not convinced the accuracy on the sc4 is any better
Nice unit, but for that price I think I'll just send one of my sons downrange with the laser. 😆
honestly, which one is the best? with good software so that i can play games.
I bought the SC300 a few years ago. I hated it. It missed every other shot and I didn’t believe most of the distances it provided.
There are two issues with these devices: reliability and validity. Reliability means that the same swing will give you the same result, swing to swing. Validity means whether or not the device measures what the shot would have actually produced. Frankly, reliability is the issue here. This is what Mr Short Game talks about when he mentions "consistency." From shot to shot, does it produce the same results? When he took it on the course, validity became the issue. How accurate is it? Because I use it on the range, reliability is way more important. If I'm getting 150 carry with an 8-iron normally, I want to know if I'm doing something to increase or decrease that number. I know that the result on the course will be different. (It will be around 155 on the course if I'm getting 150 on the range, adjusting for the quality of the range ball.) So, does this device have the capability to compensate for range balls?
Got the SC200 and it work great most of the time. Help me get some averages but it doesn't take slice or Draw in to consideration which makes distance off some times
7 Diamonds gear look good however they are over doing it with logo placement. A giant arm patch is overkill and the chest logo could be a little more subtle. I would like to get a shirt but don’t want to look like a walking billboard for 7 Diamonds.

R10 is pure garbage only smash and carry are accurate
good device, should I get one?
Seems like they need to calibrate it better
Why not look into ball speed? The ball speed numbers on each were almost identical. With the 7i they are .1 off sometimes and the first driver swing it was only .3 off. How is ball speed not relevant to the test?
I have the 300i. The biggest drawback is that using it on the range isn't helpful because of the quality of the balls. If it can compensate for that, great. (I practice at a range that uses Trackman and has that feature.) I still use it to measure differences, but not absolute values.
it's probably more accurate than most of the people who would be using it... :)
For a range toy even going once a week it's a bit pricey for me to justify
Don’t you have to set perfectly level?
I feel like you made a lot of excuses for it. Its numbers are not as accurate as other affordable launch monitors. As far as swing speed is concerned, it had you hitting drivers less than 100mph. I’m fairly certain that’s not even in your ballpark.

Look like it's constantly giving you more yardages than actual, which is dangerous if you think you can carry "that" over water 😂
Can you set that up for a simulator?
Videos are definitely better without the music
It was routinely 10% out. That’s not even close, but you kept trying to defend it. For $1,000, there’s a lot better out there.
Great addition. Just sooooo expensive. 😢 💸💸
Just bad. I won't be buying that. It was giving wacky numbers tho... 1000 spin different on 7i is too much
Made for lefty's for once you are picking it up with the wrong hand
Basically, no.
This is why I don’t like these cheap monitors, big waste of money! If it’s not dialed in, it isn’t worth using.

Not true , I use trackman and Garmin and data comparison is terrible, only smash and carry are accurate on Garmin
Cool idea but horrible execution. Golf is not a game where a 10-20% difference in your data is manageable. This swing caddy has no usage at that error level
Are you shilling for that monitor? I don't call that accurate.
Quit trying to make it sound good. Is Swing caddie paying you? It isn’t consistently accurate!

Needs the ball , for that you need a device dedicated to measure just speed
