Man Vas I would literally give money for you to start doing your driving videos again ,you are by far my favorite Channel so much more informative than the others, but since all of the nonsense your channel has taken a huge hit(running video wise) and it really blows is there any foreseeable future to be able to start making running videos again because I'm literally Counting the days .a little wishful hoping on my part.I know with the situation over there you're working with what you got and the videos are still awesome of course, it would just be great to get back to normal(ish) you rock ,great video hope we can ALL get back to normal soon

Regarding the EXB front brace. I purchased the Notorious V4 and used the EXB braces to tranform it into a kraton. You are able to use the front EXB brace with RTR. All you need to do is redrill the hole to accommodate the 4mm screw.

Another incredible review no doubt. Pretty spot on Vas on all points. I’ll say this about the wing mount on any of my arrmas. If I don’t land on them too often I don’t seem to break any. I did however feel the exb was much more durable. I believe the screws might help if the were bigger going through the tower to the bulkhead. But in the end you need a breaking point. Without question the most honest review you’ll find backed by facts and extensive knowledge and experience. Cheers brother!

Vas! Great unboxing!! I totally, 100%, agree with everything that you spoke about. I'm personally a big fan of Arrma, (because of you), but I wasn't impressed with the Kraton EXB at all. I absolutely hate the LSD diffs and my rear diff crapped out on me on the first run. When I contacted Horizon Hobby back on the first week of September for part support, they informed me that I had to wait until late November or early December. I sold my EXB the very next day

  • @AussieRCPlayground

    @AussieRCPlayground

    3 жыл бұрын

The biggest failure Horizon/ARRMA have on their hands right now is the lack of product (the cars) and parts support for said products. Although parts for existing cars are mostly available and in good numbers, there's really no point in releasing new cars when no one can get parts for months. This situation is not a new issue, it's actually been happening as far back as when the Nero was released. I remember when I got that car (pre-release) the guy that was dealing with me was suggesting sending me a second Nero just so I could have parts to keep the first car going. Of course, back then ARRMA was still only a young company and didn't have the following we see today, so the problem of parts for a new car was not as severe as it is now. However, with the amount of hype they build up for these cars and given how popular they've become, not having parts for a new car is going to piss a lot of people off and everyone else will hear about it. It's just not good enough from Horizon and ARRMA should know better. Don't release a new product until you have parts on the shelf! Simple.

I honestly hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine. Mine has been nothing but a headache and Arrma hasn’t provided me with any of the parts I need to fix it. I truly believe Arrma made a huge mistake releasing this rc without having any replacement parts manufactured for it. Everything is still on backorder to this day. I’m not here to bash Arrma. I think they make great products but they have definitely left me hanging. Mine was shimmed improperly and I destroyed the gears in my rear diff on the very first run. And they said they would send me a new lsd diff to put in the rear. That was way back In late July they said I should receive it by the end of August. It’s now nearly November and I still don’t have a diff. I ended up putting a spool in the back of mine just so I could run the thing. The spool has caused its own issues breaking things. I’m just soo over this machine at this point. Hopefully I’ll be able to run this thing at some point and enjoy it but it’s just been repairs and troubleshooting from the beginning.

The wing mount I’ve always had people tell me they break when I’ve only broke on one on each truck but that’s because I landed directly on it. I work in a hobby shop in Arizona, and I don’t think the wing mount is the issue and it’s driving technique. I have the EXB chassis on my 2018 outcast and I have been pleased with the durability and it still straight

Oh, 100% it's the driver that breaks the wing mount, but do you think they'll ever admit that? LOL. They sure know how to voice their opinion on Facebook and even in the hobby shop (at times) about how weak they are, though. Honestly, it's only reason I even brought it up. I've only ever broken one wing mount myself and it was on the V1 Kraton when I was trying to show off to my friend doing a standing double back flip on concrete and landed straight on the mount. Since then, never broken one on any of my cars. 😁

@@AussieRCPlayground they will never admit it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’ve broke a few wing mount but either it’s my fault or it’s my fault trying to save the truck in the air and it hits directly wing mount. Other wise I haven’t broke a wing mount recently. And I’ve used both RPM and V4 version of the wing mounts. It’s like the plastic driveshafts too, I’m able to make those last a lot longer than most people but they eventually fail and I usually can get a lot of packs through them before they do.

I just ordered one of these yesterday and this is my last hail mary for Arrma as far as giving them a chance. If this one gives me as many problems as the Outcast 8s and the 3s Typhon, ill be done with Arrma. My Outcast 8s has only had 1 run without a problem (not including breakages which is to be expected from any RCs) and the Typhon only has 2 runs since i purchased it and both times revealed their design flaws. Thus far ive had more problems with my 2 Arrmas than ive had in all my other 13 RCs combined. I will be putting a Mamba Monster X 8s sensored ESC with a 1717 can 1650 kv motor. I wont be running it on 8s as i think thats overkill for the typically 6s Kraton platform. Ive heard of people running it on 8s but i feel like that much power will wear parts out prematurely. I currently own Traxxas, Losi, ProBoat, Eflite and Arrma and the Arrmas break every time.

  • @AussieRCPlayground

Fair enough. I've had no issues with ARRMA in all the years I've owned them and reviewed them, so either you have been unlucky or there's some other element at play that you're not telling us. Personally, I don't see the need to go that overkill on the EXB. The power system you've chosen is only going to give you more grief as you'll likely destroy diffs and ware out drivetrain components quicker than expected. I ran the Max6 1650kv in mine and that was already borderline excessive. Honestly, all you need is the Max8 combo and you'll be right in the sweet spot for power for this car. In any case, good luck with it and hopefully it doesn't give you any trouble. 🤞

@@AussieRCPlayground Ive not been hard on either of the Arrmas, mostly flat ground so far on terrain i run my UDR and Losi DB Pro. I do a few hill climbs but nothing rediculous. The Outcast split the center diff and spilled its guts all over the inside of the transmission, blowing tires off the rims, pinion coming loose, broke a shock tower, hit a rock and pulled the rear hinge pin brack completely off of it, broke a rear arm, pulled the rear camber links out stripping the plastic rod ends and the last thing that happened was the internals of the rear diff detonated. The only RCs ive ran easier are the Summit and TRX4. As far as the Typhon, broke the lower front shock rod end and lost the spring as it is exposed to anything that is high enough to hit it, after i solved that issue the slipper clutch came loose and it is the one part that needs like a million screws removed to tighten. The Outcast was purchased July 8th and has been sitting on the shelf since September with the rear diff out of it. The Typhon i got in August and still only has 2 runs on it. I bought the Outcast 8s so i could retire my Losi LST 3XLE, but obviously the Outcast has been retired first. Hopefully the Kraton EXB fairs better.

Great video review Vas. Have to agree about a lot of things that you pointed out. 1 - locktight - aarma would save millions of dollars a year if they used less. 2 - exb - should be all exb and hardened steel parts. Screws , the most terrible screws and bolts i have ever seen in an rc car, they rust / they strip / they are too short / 1 bit of water and they start to rust. 3 - the chassis plate "3mm" rediculus in my honest opinion. 4 - body shell - 1mm if that body shell is rediculus, most cheaper rc cars have thicker and stronger body shells. 5 - pinion gear "why". 6 - unpainted body shell definitely yes. 7 - as far as stock in Australia. I think that horizon hobbies staff and owner don't care whatsoever about stock anywhere in the world, i honestly think that the main owner must have so much money that he just doesn't care about pleasing customers. They are the most difficult and rude ignorant people who don't want know you after a sale of their products, that goes for retail outlets aswell as customers who purchase aarma. I have heard so many rediculus excuses for no waranty back up / no stock available / unable to send to customers in Australia for warranty and so much more that i am so disappointed in horizon hobbies with there i don't care attitude towards all that buy aarma products. That's my honest opinion Vas. Great video bud

IMO it’s not worth it until they come up with better diffs everything else is basic repairs not hard at all even the chassis not the best there thicker aftermarket ones out there I think Armma taking hobbies to the bank I’ll wait till they actually design a tougher model what’s the sense in designing different braces if the chassis still prone to bend and there’s a better aftermarket one out there that they should’ve been aware of and trying to implement it to they cars I understand repairs are a part of the hobby but when replacement part not available that really sucks.

Diffs are fine it was just a shim issue. Arms needs to be boiled and they become almost like rpm in terms of flex. Chassi is fine I think a lot better than the stock v4 chassi. No rc out of the box would be able to handle rich duperbash abuse without upgrades

agree with your point about the red thread lock - did you use a hand tool or drill to try and unscrew? - just curious. The chassis point is interesting - how much extra would it cost for ARRMA to go from 3mm to 4mm? - and also the other area's such as top shock screw etc... BUT, I do think they should supply various pinion gears to cater for the lower KV and also higher KV e.g. 12T, 15T & 19T - looking forward to buying mine but not with a suspect diff haha...

My last try is I installed a cap pack but oh boy my soldering iron is trash I was swearing for an hour. Cant use leaded solder when I do I feel dizzy and lose where I am. I always use lead free. I just want to wheelie when I want but the cogging is so bad sometimes it sounds like a stripped diff but the diffs are all fine! Those missfire I think my diff are not happy to be abused like that

Im sure we would all welcome a extra cost for a chassis that doesn't bend. Also Vas i totally agree about stock with Arrma, they need to start hiring more people or something cause their stock on most models is incredibly low. Most models are hard to find at the moment.

You’ll want to get 12x18 shims for both sides of the rear diff. You will need between 1.75 and 1.90 per sun gear. If you use the LSD plates instead, it will drive like crap. It’s no fun to spin out every time you try to turn. Without supporting the sun gears, it’s only a matter of time before the sun gear teeth shear off. I’ve been thru a few rear diffs before seeing the 12x18 shim solution on the Arrma Forum proposed by BashingBrian. Thanks to RCProponent for the hookup too. ✊🏻
