    Unfortunately the chassis is 3mm Plate, 7075-T6 Aluminum stamped not machined 👍 another side note the warranty LSD diffs are failing under 6s rather quickly and the metal wheel hexes are stripping the wheel hexes as the metal thickness doesn't match up to the wheels installed. Aside from that the EXB looks nice

    I am also running this setup ( Spektrum 1250KV and 160A ESC combo ) - 20t Pinion on 6s yields near the same performance as a stock Kraton 2050+150A(15t) but has more torque. Temps are low-low-low which is a huge plus for Texas summer ! I normally run everything on as much as it will take - and even I hesitate to run this on 8s full time as it is nearly unmanageable and my wallet will hate me. Great review - you are amazingly under geared and I suspect you could twist rebar with that much toque going through the drivetrain ! :)

    Lower KV on 8s is muh more efficient. More power, longer run times and cooler temps. 1250kv on 6s is very inefficient with such a big truck. I run mine with a 520kv and 10s 4500mah, I get 45 minutes of bashing and temps never exceed 118f.

    Arrma needs to come out with a line of 1/8th scale trucks that are plastic chassis and the rest of it except for the stuff that needs to be metal like drivetrain shocks etc. with a team of amazing people like arrma they can really create something crazy tough. They just need to accept that metal is never going to be as tough and cheap to replace as plastic when it comes to these smaller models

    @@AMain_Hobbies Brett yeah I got the truck. Been sitting in pieces for the past 3 weeks as I try to figure out how to build it and waiting form Amain to send me some of my orders still. Couple quick questions 1. How do you attach the ESC to the EXB? Is the ESC double sided sticky tape or am I just not seeing how it screws and secures in (I am running the same ESC and Motor you guys choose MM8S and 1717). 2. For the servo what servo horn did you use? The Spektrum one that came with it I Don't think works or I can't figure out how to get it to work. So I need to get a new servo horn. 3. Do you use blue locktite on the screws for the sliding motor mount and motor or do I just use bare screws?

  • @AMain_Hobbies

    @AMain_Hobbies

    @@DonnieKluck Hey Donnie! 1) Yeah, double sided tape is the ticket. Protek has these two tapes: www.amainhobbies.com/search?s=PROTEK+DOUBLE+SIDED+TAPE The grey stuff is very flat and not my preference, the other stuff though is like a jelly tape with some movement, so it is shock absorbent in a way. It's the only double sided tape I use for r/c, but it's a pain in the butt to work with sometimes. But rubbing both surfaces with rubbing alcohol, nitro spray or brake cleaner first, and using an xacto knife to raise the backing helps. With this, the tape should never come off. 2) I think we used the servo horn that's included with the 370tbl servo if I remember right. 3) Definitely the two screws on the top that secure the motor mount, but don't loctite the two screws that hold the motor. For whatever reason, you don't loctite motors in, just the other areas where a metal screw threads into a metal piece. Hope you get those parts soon Donnie! -Brett

    @@AMain_Hobbies Brett thanks for the information appreciate it as always. Really I would have thought that the motor would be loctitte as well so that is so like all against all odds and what not. Weird I would have lost that bet for sure. Yeah I have most the parts I need waiting for a couple others though.

    @@AMain_Hobbies yes exactly to push the dogbone into the outdrive cup. I tried replacing the dogbone, the arm and still the dog bone kept popping out for no reason and destroying the outdrive cup until I put a small washer to push the dog bone further into the outdrive cup. Diff is shimmed and doesn't not move so it wasn't that either. The camber is exactly the same as the other side too. I have no idea why it only happen to that side like yours did.

    the easiest way to make these bomb proof is to tube chassis it . rc4wd just came out with a monster truck 1/8 tube chassis for $150 . i cut the 4link section off so it was flat then welded 8 tabs to it then bolted it to the exb . im gonna just build a tube frame of my own so that the flat cassis can get tossed . if armma did this they would be lightyears ahead of traxxas !

    Great birthday present Jon! Happy early birthday. For the electronics, they install in an hour or so. Setting them up might take another hour. You'll want to calibrate the speed controller to your transmitter, center the server and set the servo endpoints so it doesn't try to throw further than the mechanical steering system in the truck. We have a video on ends point adjustments (EPA) here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mpVslsx_f6e5c8o.html KZread probably has a video on ESC calibration too, depending on what model ESC you get, but it's pretty easy if not. -Brett

    Brett I had another question for you as you know I am looking into building out a 1/8 EXB myself from all my million other questions I have asked you so far LOL. How is it you wire up the batteries to the ESC when you end up using 2 packs? Since I know if you are able to run a single pack i.e. 6S, 4S, etc it is easy since you just have the 2 wires from the ESC with the single connector on it. But if you are running 6S or 8S and have to use multiple packs to how it is you connect the two batteries to the ESC if there is only a single connector there? I am have not seen a setup in person where I could just look and see how it is done. Only thing I picked up is in those instances there is a loopback adapter you need to use when you only use one battery instead of two. And I cannot get a good enough look when I pause your video to see how it is wired up on your rig here.

  • @AMain_Hobbies

    Off the ESC is one negative and one positive wire. To have two connectors, we add a jumper wire. So on the ESC, the positive wire will go into connector 1 and this will be the + for this connector. Now take the negative wire and put that into a second connector and that will be - in this 2nd connector. Now add a piece of wire going from connector 1 - to connector 2 + and you're done. Here's a picture of the jumper wire in use: www.amainhobbies.com/arrma-blx185-brushless-6s-esc-ara390211/p-quact2kqgm2xactz You can see the two wires coming off the ESC and then the extra jumper wire going from connector to connector. Hope that helps -Brett

    @@AMain_Hobbies I haven't had any further breaks at the outdrives. Arrma built the EXB to tackle some heavy 6S action, but when people (like us) step it up to some serious power beyond what it was designed to take, parts will break. If you still have outdrives breaking, take a look at upgrading to the M2C hardened steel outdrives. For that matter, check out M2C for replacement parts if you are looking at strategically upgrading parts instead straight replacing them (rear towers, etc.).
