There's two (or three) big issues with the GameSir X3. First is nit-picking is the ergonomics. It still isn't as comfortable as something like the DualShock 5/Xbox/WiiU Pro controller. Especially with that Right-Joystick being accidentally touched/moved by your inner-palm as your thumb moves to hit the Action Buttons above it. If they flipped the Joystick above it, this problem would be averted. Second is the heft of this. Sure, the Xbox or PlayStation controller I mentioned above aren't really portable but they were never designed to be. This is. And yet it has a fairly large size and heft to it. It is definitely not pocketable. So it requires people to carry a purse or a backpack. Which begs the question, why not take your DualSense controller with you instead? There are phone mounts for them. It becomes a pointless product when looking at it that way. Third, I guess is their questionable connection to eggNS. We probably shouldn't support companies that are deliberately being fishy and unethical.

I would say the BEST controller is the Razer JungleCat. They're ergonomic despite the tiny size. And they come apart, and both Joycon sides can easily slide into one of your pockets. Combine that with a designated phone Samsung Note9, S10+ or one that's capable. Then you have a truly portable console you can take outdoors/anywhere without the need to wear a purse or backpack. There people who have modded their cases, or 3D-printed their own. So something like the Sony XZ1c, Sony 5.3, or iPhone 13 mini make for some tiny powerful gaming. Or go the opposite route with the Samsung A52-s, ASUS RoG 5, Sony 1.4, or iPhone 13 Max, and you've got some capable big-screen gaming that's still pocketable. Remember, devices that are pocketable are fundamentally different to larger portable devices. An iPhone 13 Max and iPad Mini are relatively close, but very different. The iPad Mini will have to compete against larger devices like the iPad Pro 12in, instead of the iPhone 14 Max. Additionally, you can make the comparison with say the Retroid Pocket 2+ against the GPD Win-2 (pocketable barely). Or the AYN Odin Pro against the Valve SteamDeck (backpack required). But you can't compare those pocketable devices against the backpack required ones. edit: spelling

Yeah that is one thing I do NOT like about my x2 bluetooth. I am also forced to use the bluetooth version as I use an otterbox Defender case on my Note 10 + and usb-c will NOT work with a case as shown here. They really need to make that plug a few milimeter longer to fit phones with cases.
Hi, nice video, you seem lovingly objective and straight to the point. Could you tell us if the Lenovo Legion 2 and the Lenovo y90 can fit securely to this gamepad? And not through DIY solutions I don't care much if they charging function works or not, since the Legion phones have a second USB C port that i entend to connect at the same time as the cooling fan of the gamepad Thank you very much, i am actually in search for this information for nearly a year. Taki, what's the battery consumption on stand-by if you leave the controller plugged in with the phone on stand-by. The GameSir x2 drained 20% of the battery in a 24hr cycle. I passed this information along and GameSir they said, "Calculated by a mobile phone battery of 4000 mAh, X3 Type-C consumes only 5 ten-thousandths of its power per hour. In other words, it can generally support 2,000 hours (83 days) if the phone is in standby mode (no background Apps running)." So is it true are they full of it?

99 dollars is not a viable price point. The thumbsticks seem to be the same as the X2 and those thumbsticks have an over-repporting issue where they say that they're at 100% tilt long before they make contact with the cicular gate. from my estimates it reports full tilt when you're about 50% of the way tilted. They could have gotten away with that price point if it weren't for the fact that Nacon released the MG-X Pro which has full analogue trigger, fantastic sticks, and a traditional controller grip for $80. The X3 just can't compete with that.

It's unfortunate, there seems to be just too many missed opportunities with this new controller. I have 3x X2, but I will not be changing despite it having some nice features. No analog shoulder buttons, not a con but paddle buttons are trending strong, they haven't increased the telescopic range significantly, could've been an opportunity for tablets that are coming back for Android. The fan power not being passthrough, like you said, dual USB-C makes no sense. Very unfortunate as I would've bought it in a heartbeat. Edit: Oh and I didn't realize EggNS had progressed so far! :O
where can i buy that 3.5 jack extender?
Love the idea of being able to change out the buttons buttons. I took apart my Logitech F710 game pad one time attempting to switch around the a,b,x,y buttons to match the way SNES buttons are arranged. But the buttons won't fit in another slot and it was a pain to put back together. Its a shame they didn't include a square, circle, and triangle buttons that you could swap out to use for Play Station emulation. I used stickers, marker, and paint to try to draw the square, circle, triangle buttons on my game pads in the past for playstation emulation. But that stuff fades and its messy trying to slap some tape over it so it don't fade. I don't think I like any of the D-pad on the X3 controller. I think they should have just stuck with the regular D-pad that's on the 2021 X2 USB-C controller. I have the gamesir X2 controller. I just wish the USB-c jack was longer so that I didn't have to take off my phone case to use it. I guess the X3 is the same way.

Does this block the rear vent on the Red Magic 7?
Swappable buttons isn't much of a selling point to me. If I want smoother motion I'll use the analog sticks, and I don't need to look down to see what the face buttons say; like you said, a proper D-pad with conductive rubber would have been the sweet spot for me. Also, I really don't need RGB lighting, especially for a fan that faces away from me. At least make it look cool, it just looks like bulbs stuck in random spots inside. It's like these decisions were made to check off a list so that they can fill out the seller page with attractive sounding bullet points. I'm a bit salty since I really liked the X2 and looked forward to the evolution, but this is overall a step backward to me. I'm glad it's at least more comfortable to hold!

Once you experience a game controller with tactile switches you will never look at game controllers the same way again. After experiencing the Gamesir X2 with daily usage since it release, I have been looking for new controllers that also have tactile switches. I can't go back to using any of my old controllers with non tactile rubber membrane contacts. My Xbox One S, DS4, and 8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus are just collecting dust right now. I still however use my Switch Pro controller because that's the closest controller with tactile triggers you can get to use.
taki can you make a comparasion between the x3 and the kishi v2
Where can I buy one of those or when will launch globally
What phone is being used in the video with the controller?
Are analog triggers like l3 and r3 in ps?
What version of Diablo are you playing?
Are there any coolers that will run off power from phone?
What emulator were you using for Witcher 3 ??
I know you're probably not a fan of the Razer Kishi, but it's definitely worth a second look if you own a flagship phone. By removing the rubber bumpers from the controller I was able to fit my S21 Ultra in while wearing a Spigen Slimfit case. It works really well, especially for the higher end emulators and Microsoft Gamepass. Considering that the Kishi goes on sale regularly for 45$, it's worth a shot imo. It has analogue triggers to boot. Unfortunately the D Pad is lacking, it's not the worst ever, but it is unsatisfying. It's better than other third-party controllers such as the I-Moga, but not by very much.

It would have been perfect,it's a great idea to have an inner fan attached to the gamepad but it failed totally since you need to plug in a cable, they can fix it thoug in the next iteration

I'm happy with the X2 2021 personally if this had a option for you to buy it to look like the vita to some degree so I could have a playstation layout I might have considered it a better controller than the X2 2021 I have but the features the X3 has aren't something I'd even think of using anyway so they failed to get extra cash from me for that controller at least.
I want to like Gamesir but they always seem to miss the mark in one way or another. Whether it be a mushy dpad, sticky buttons, input latency, compatibility issues, there always seems to be something.

Another missed opportunity: attach data wires to the usb c port so that you don't have to unplug it for adb, atp or even video out for phones that support it

which controller do you recomend me?
What about the thermals with that fan though?
I had issues with the x2 cport, and not connecting to my phone(anyone else getting a blinking Blue light?) I swapped to the bluetooth and ive been fine sense... But if they ever made an analog triggers with a xbox button format, THAT would win me back to using the Cport again

Gamesir is missing the opportunity to add 2-4 paddle back button, yet they could of have 2 different version like 3x (non back button) or 3x pro (2 or 4 back paddle button).
Not using rubber on the back is a good thing - at least it won't melt and get sticky in the future.
Does anyone know of a controller app which works with the gamesir x2? Taki mentions other apps, since the gamesir app is garbage, but i have no idea what that is

What is the free switch emulator you spoke of?
I am going to pick this up. Fan, right stick can be taken off. There are down sides but had upsides also
Ive always wanted to mod one of my gamepads to have pc mouse switch buttons to replace the membrane. I just don't have time. . . . and soldering skills. clicks must be more satisfying than any high quality tactile buttons.
One of the main problem for me of these controllers is the ergonomic design. It is hard to use L1 and L2 (R1 and R2) at the same time with your Index (L1 or R1) and Middle (L2 or R2) fingers due to the fact that you will need your Middle finger to help support the weight of the device together with your palm grip. I hope to see a design much more similar to a console controller which offers better palm grip and allows you to use your Index and middle fingers more freely for the shoulder buttons.

Skyline Emulator This Switch emulator doesn't need a controller and is absolutely free and has zero shadiness (they have a wonderful discord server) They went from playing 0 switch games to playing just Sonic Mania a few months ago to currently playing games like Blazblue, One Piece, Hollow Knight, Celeste, Cuphead, FateExtella and a bunch of other 2d/3d games and even Pokemon Lets Go to some extent and is getting better and better with each update at a fast pace. Hope this helps! P.S It is 10 times more optimized than EggNS. For example, the GPU usage for EggNS can go upto 90 percent while for Skyline the max recorded till now is 25-30 percent. So Switch games at full speed with VERY minimal heating.
Telescopic controllers still need more improvements, if they are going to equal Xbox and PS controllers. I have an Gamesir X2 and somethings that need to be fixed, this is mostly due to the controller and it's buttons being too small making for a cramped layout. - D-Pad is still a little too rigid, not as easy for fighting games. - The "screen' capture button is too close to the d-pad, causing frequent accidental presses with games that use the d-pad a lot. - thumb sticks are too directly underneath/above the d-pad and face buttons, with the right thumbstick your right thumb has to go over the stick to reach the face buttons. when you look at the Xbox, PS4/5 and steam deck, the thumb sticks are off centre from the d-pad and face buttons, meaning your thumbs have clear access to the d-pad and face buttons. - "select" and "start" buttons are too close to the left thumb stick and face buttons, they don't cause accidental presses, but are not as easy to press when accessing pause/start menus. + should buttons are ok, but could be longer horizontally, but again this is too do with being a small controller. - triggers need more depth, and I doubt they are analogue, this plays a big part in shooting, racing and pressure sensitive games. - This is more with mobile controllers in general - no discrete usb-c direct cable or connection from the phone to the controller, bluetooth is fine, but for some games that are more action/twitch oriented like FPS and fighting games lag can be noticable. perhaps bluetooth in the future could become faster that lag is no longer noticeable.
