I got this bass about a month ago now, and after playing it a bunch, recording several tracks with it, and letting it settle in, I can honestly say this is the best low-cost instrument I've ever had. It was cheaper than any other piece on the market except the random Amazon / eBay guitars, but it actually has all the attributes of a MUCH more expensive instrument.
Things like an ash body, a maple neck, and a set of Alnico pickups take it far above the level of the others. Frankly, it's more like a $600 bass, but it was $250 (including shipping from Germany). If you're in EU, the shipping will be quite a bit less.
My only complaints? It's a bit heavy, but every ash body jazz bass will be, because that's a very dense wood. Also I may re-finish it at some point because tbh I just don't love the look of natural-finish instruments. Gimme that early 60s-style nitrocellulose.
I can't help but dig into it because it's got that classic jazz bass growl that's just so fun! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone, no matter their skill level.
Check it out and let me know what you think!

I bought one too. I'm so happy with it. I love the tone and the building quality. So far, the only bass of wich I like the tone (a little bit) better is the original '68 Fender Jazz bass. Can't afford that one though, and the tone difference does not make up for the difference in price, I'm afraid. How Harley Benton can make this instrument for this price I can't understand. But I'm glad I bought one.

I just got this bass today (B-stock purchase) and the fit and finish, the pickups, the ash body and maple neck puts the Fender basses to shame,...and for only a fraction of the price. I got mine from Thomann in Germany, shipped to the U.S. in five days, for only $135, plus shipping.

Great demo, your playing ability showcased it well. A 70's jazz bass should be ash but there's heavy and light. Many of the cheaper basses that use ash end up heavy. e.g. The Japanese 75 reissue. They are noticeably heavy compared to the US counterpart and also generally 3 piece instead of 2. You get what you pay for but as a second or beginner these look like a great option.

It is a very heavy bass, I measured it at almost 6.5kg! The best way to help with that is to get a very wide strap to spread out the weight on your shoulder. I'm a big fan of wide leather straps for guitars!

I bought one couple of weeks ago. It is intended asa moding platform but damn, I don't think I'll have to change a lot. I have no idea how do they manage to build such a good instrument for a 170€. It is a bargain. I tryed an almost the same Squier Jazz bass several times and the only diffrence is the headstock shape and the price tag. I brought it to my band rehersal, they couldnt belive the sound and build quality. And mind you, I was really sceptical. I saw a bunch of videos on that bass and Harley Benton in general and 97% of them were saying only good stuff. I thought Thomann is really investing in marketing but they got me convicned with this one...

That's a shame! I've had some decent Squiers in the past too, but this one is far better than any I've personally had. With any of these cheap instruments, knowing how to do the basic setups usually gets you a very playable instrument.
