Do you think this would work for scanning peoples feet to make custom shoes? I want to 3d print shoe lasts and then build the shoe by hand around the last. The scanner would have to rotate around the persons foot unless I could get a giant turntable (but still it would probably be impossible for the person to be truly still).

You're honest and all of the points you made match the observations I've made on my own Mini scanner. One thing I found by is that the tripod does extend. This is similar to my experience with the Mini so far. I’m hopeful that I can find a niche for it in my workflow but so far it has been pretty useless. There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete points and stitch multiple scans within the Revo Scan software. I think you can do it in Revo Studio but it would be much more convenient to do it as you go. I have an Einscan Pro 2X Plus as well and the user experience is night and day so far. The Einscan software is much more intuitive and just works. Revopoint just announced that they are going to be doing another Kickstarter for a large object scanner. Hopefully they can get their software sorted out before then. It needs a lot of work.

Thanks for you review. Have the same one without 2 Axis Turntable. In short: it's software SUCKS. Absolutely. It is hard to make it scanning successfully at all. But you can: that tripod is not actually that small, it extends. Best to have the scanner having about 45 degrees down on that tripod. Putting a lot of small things like 3D printed boxes of about 7-10 mm around the item you scan really helps. Don't try to rely on the markers, it loses those too easy. You can get the results then, but due it's software this scanner is "what did you want for 1K USD at all" like you said, alas. Both it's software and this software creator needs a punch! )) Hope Revopoint will do something to it since the hardware is really nice, but for now I doubt it.

If you want to use it in the same range as the Revopoint Mini, tiny things on a turntable with an insane resolution and the option for texture scanning, the Shining3D Transcan C would be the next step up, at about 5x the price. If you want to scan a bit larger things (100mm cube and upwards, and you don't need insane resolution), the Einstar is awesome for the price ($959) Both have significantly more mature software compared to the Revopoint offerings (even if it still isn't as good as the Artec software that Grant loves and pays more than some of these scanners costs per year to use)

Some people have had success, but many are dealing with the same thing I am..

Jumping in blind really didn't make for a considered opinion. Your technique for scanning those parts leaves a lot to be desired. The first part for example, you adjusted the exposure on the home screen. When you start the scan it resets, so you should adjust to the best level then. I hope you dedicate some time to learn how to use the scanner and then update to include a more considered opinion. Also, one rotation of capture works best. Leaving it scanning thousands of frames isn't going to yield good results.

Jumping in does wonders for a first look. This is 100% indicative of how most people use products. The fact it resets after you set it is absolutely stupid and something i got later down in the video. Multi rotation is needed if you cannot capture all surfaces. Time will be allotted eventually. Should have been today but there is a hurricane overhead right now.

@@3DMusketeers yeah one revolution with 300 frames is the best. Stop the scan deselect meshing. Click point cloud mesh and select 0.02. You have to do this EVERY time you stopped a scan! If not it will use a random point cloud settings how is much less dense. You can check this by the mesh count after meshing the part. Should be around 5m vertexes for 300 frames.

Wow.. That is really dumb really.. The dual axis exists for a reason, to do a single scan. Every other scanner I own would handle multiple revolutions without any issue, including the cheaper ones.

Same results…. Sorta hit and miss.. tracking logic is really the fault here.. if you don’t lose tracking it’s a really decent scan.. but once it goes south that’s all there is too it.. the FOV is blamed but the Creality lizard has a even worse FOV yet I scanned a 302 SBF engine block.. the Mini wouldn’t even get 6”-10” of the scan and loses its mind..

If anyone is looking to buy one here you go : Theirs scanner are still is absolute ass, I bought the revopoint Mini 2 3D scanner and it can't even scan simple things like a brp gas cap yet I paid 1.5k, heck the status that come with the scanner struggle to be scanned... I'm definitely sending it back what a waste. And they claim it's 0.02mm accurate... Yeah right it's not even 1cm accurate.

I have a revopoint pop 2 mini. And I had huge expectations for my work after blogger's video that praised this scanner. When I picked it up I was disappointed a lot because I spent a lot of time but the result of scanning was horrible. Do not buy this sh*t

The last part you are having problem to scan it’s because you are using scan by feature mode, you can change setting to follow the dot on turn table. It won’t have the miss align error

When we did this, that feature was bugged out lol. Now it may be working better. May be worth a re-visit, however with the mini2 I dont know..
