Remember, Brady only had a 2 year deal. But then he decided to extend for a year. Brady played that extra year and took away Trask's shot. No one wants to be the guy after The Guy. The Bucs got Trask to play the year after Brady because no one was going to compare a rookie who sat one year to Tom Brady. So, the original plan was Brady plays 2 years, Trask is the gap year, then they get the QB of the future. (Unless we get stupid lucky, and Trask is a star.) But Brady wanted one more season... and Baker became available. The rest (hopefully) is history.

i said this when we drafted him, QB just wasn't a need at the time. We could've used that second round pick on a corner or O-LINE at the time.

I agree. I would have traded him last year, being a year younger, the need for so many QB's (after teams injuries), & the fact that Woof played so well in the preseason. Plus, get what you can for him, saves some money

Yes it is. He should have never been drafted by us. He is a 5th round talent level at best. Central Florida residents have a severe bias for UF and FSU players and can't accept reality.

I think with this offense, Wilford would be a better option at QB to get you bye for a couple of weeks. I can't wait until Trask is gone, so we dont have to hear about him anymore

He can hold a clipboard in Tampa or somewhere else. It was a bad pick for the Bucs in the 2nd round. 6 or 7th round would have been acceptable. The league has moved away from tall not mobile QB's with average arms. Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels are the style they are looking for. Good arm, mobile can throw from multiple arm slots. Tampa has turned away from developing a QB. They have gone towards free agency. With success I do not see Tampa going away from this trend. Tampa has no success drafting QB's. No second contract ever for a drafted QB.

I think there is a chance Trask is back next season on a cheap contract. Jason Licht, Dave Canales, and Todd Bowles all stated that the competition between Baker and Trask was very close to the end. I'm not sure why fans refuse to believe that. If they are to be believed, and why should they, then they must see Trask as a capable back up QB. If they didn't, they would have signed a veteran like Tannehill or Tyrod Taylor to come in to be the backup. The advantage Trask will have next season is that he will learn the Bucs new offense this season, and it will probably be up to him if he decides to sign a low end contract in Tampa or go elsewhere to try to compete. It's going to be low end either way. But, Tampa will probably be the only destination where he can actually compete for QB2.

We shouldn’t have kept him as long he lost the starting job to baker which is embarrassing considering that he had been with the bucs three more years then baker did and yet he still lossed 😂
