Reminds me of my dad. He love Bob Marley. When I was little he would drive me and my sisters to Shashemene to visit his Jamaican Rastafari friend who lived there with his Ethiopian wife. I found the guy very different and fascinating because of his long dreads , his loud voice and foreign accent. We always listened to Bob when dad drove us to Langano, Awasa or Shashemene. We would carry this tape player and made sure we had enough batteries for the trip. This went on throughout upto my teenage years where I was sent abroad for high school. RIP Dad. You were a true panafricanist, an intellectual but what you really were was a freedom fighter deep down. You never talked politics or the inequalities of this world to me but I know your soul has rubbed on to me. Love you Daddy. I’m 49 but still your baby boy.
