Is this Jeep Gladiator Build OUT OF CONTROL?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A lot has been happening with the Jeep Gladiator build in just the last few weeks. When I was invited to SEMA and the LA Auto Show, I knew there were some things that needed to get done quickly, so in this video I’m going to catch you up on all the updated modifications (lift kit, tires, led lights, winch, roof rack, bed rack, rooftop tent, fridge and more), give you my opinions about what’s been installed, talk to you about some changes I’ll be making and what future projects are coming.

    @@wanderingaimlessly. Toyota's are more reliable, peroid. Jeeps are more capable, and going topless, doorless is awesome. I have both - but I have a 4Runner as a daily because it is reliable, basic, and will work - peroid. I wheel the crap out of my Jeep and I love it to death. The comment was contrary to what you think, but suggesting someone buys a Yoder and not a Jeep doesn't make him a troll - and since I work on Jeeps, I can tell ya that the electrical issues with the JKU are a real thing! Glad to hear that your Wranglers have been good to you - but the lemons are out there, and that's where the Wrangler reliability comments are coming from!

    I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler with 150,000 miles on it. I've been 50/50 Highway and Offroad. I've done at least one trail in every state. And feel confident I'll be able to do another 150,000 miles in my rig. I use synthetic oil, and do whatever maintenance is scheduled. I do half the mileage for maintenance due to the harsh driving I do. Feel confident in your purchase. You can see all the places I've been on instagram. Hope to see you on the trail!

    I saw this Gladiator at the LA Autoshow. Took lot's of pictures of it and with it. You need a SYNERGY FRONT TRACK BAR & SECTOR SHAFT BRACE. I noticed Marco's Jeep has it. For safety's sake, everyone should have it. When you do finally install it, be sure to replace the 4 Steering Box Bolts with Grade 8 Bolts.

    Amazing Rig!

  • @katiemonroe5456
    @katiemonroe54564 жыл бұрын

    I love it!!! I've been doing a lot of research on what to get for my first overlander (I've owned 2 vans in the past that I did adventure/camper conversion builds on and had a lot of fun with those- but I wasn't able to go TOO far out into the backcountry and was mainly "stealth camping" with those). And I'm sure I'll still occasionally want to just park along the coast overnight to wake up and go surf sometimes, but the main purpose of my next "adventure rig" will be to explore more trails and venture out to backcountry campsites, so I'm thinking the rooftop tent option will be the way to go and will be a fun new experience for me! Also considering a camper shell option, so I look forward to seeing what you end up doing with that, as well as your rooftop tent reviews! Thanks for the inspiration, man!! Now I just need to decide whether to wait for the diesel or not....anyone know when those will be released/available to buy in California??

    Just discovered TrailRecon this weekend, while cooped up in my apartment after a newly-issued statewide stay-at-home order here in Alabama. I bought a 2007 4WD Nissan Frontier Crew Cab last month, and have been boning up on trailrunning as part of my process for weathering the Coronavirus epidemic. I had a 4WD Nissan Hardbody back in the 1990s, and I'd missed it badly. Did a lot of light-to-moderate trailrunning with it in Arizona and central California, particularly Schnebley Hill Road outside Sedona (my favorite!) and the Senator Highway up in the Bradshaws, along with a lot of logging trails in the central Sierra Nevadas in that triangular area between Modesto, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe that involved the occasional hop over eroded channels in the trails, but never dared the Rubicon. (After watching your video on the Rubicon, I'm thinking, "Nope! Not with this truck!" O.O ) I also have an amusing story from when we first moved back to northern Alabama with my Hardbody still in my possession. My in-laws all scoffed at it: "You're not going to need four-wheel drive here! This is Alabama!" I just smiled pleasantly, knowing towns in the Deep South have NO CLUE how to deal with snow and ice, and said, "we'll see." Well, that first winter, we had four NASTY sleet storms in a row in one month. Six inches of ice pellets mixed with water about the consistency of a Slushy from DQ. And after the storms blew through and the cold air settled in behind it, the slop froze like concrete, with 6-inch-deep ruts in it like an old wagon trail. And it did it again every Saturday after that -- four weekends in a row just when the stuff was just starting to melt off. This poor city was shut down for a month! And I, with my single bench-seat 4WD Nissan, kept my wife's nursing home staffed with nursing assistants the whole month, by shuttling 5 CNAs at a time to and from work each day! My in-laws never uttered a peep about my truck after that. But, after a few years, as our family grew, I bit the bullet and traded it in for a minivan. I felt emasculated. But now the kids are all grown, the ex is long gone, and I have a "new" truck again! At this point, I'm seriously thinking about seeing if I can finagle a transfer within my company back to the Phoenix metro area soon, because I miss the West! But for now, I'm also scouring local National Forest maps of the Bankhead and Talladega National Forests here in Alabama and the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee and northern Georgia looking for fun back-country routes. Any suggestions? I'm particularly intrigued by your videos on this Gladiator. It seems a close comparison to my Frontier, and I'm picking up many interesting ideas. I was also encouraged by your 40,000-mile review of those Goodrich tires in another clip, which is what my truck came equipped with. Nice to know these tires offer such good all-around capability, short of extreme rock-crawling or mud running. I don't plan to do a lot of trail running in muddy conditions. I hope to mostly refrain from muddy trails to to not contribute to avoidable trail erosion. So it sounds like these Goodriches are perfect for my needs. My main concerns would be sidewall punctures from sideslipping onto a sharp rock or a broken-off mesquite or creosote stump or some such. How vulnerable are these tires' sidewalls? Any thoughts on how my Frontier compares to a stock Gladiator? My initial impression is that Frontiers are more of a midsized truck than my old Hardbody, with a longer wheelbase and wider turning radius. I haven't measured the wheelbase dimensions or ground clearance yet, nor looked at the underside to see if it has any skid plates.

    Great video. If you get rid of the rack system and go with a shell I think you'll have a long JK-JL? Rig looks good!!!

    Great video Brad. Just curious how much all the accessories cost to this point or if any is given to you as part of a sponsorship. It's great to see the progress so far but I find it hard to believe an average person can afford to do so much so quickly. I think when the more popular channels show all the upgrades it would be helpful for the average guy to get an idea of cost. It would go a long way towards helping the person that wants to get to that level set some kind of priority of how to get their. Thanks again for another great vid.

    I agree! This may also make people think unrealistically to what you “need” to overland. I like to see what’s available and possible like the rest of us, but is this really necessary, esp on the platform such as the gladiator.

    It doesn’t matter what it cost him personally just a retail price list would be a good guide for people who are interested in building something similar.

    This is one of turn off to these videos maybe because I am jealous there seems to be no end to the cost of all these additions to buy a Galdiator and then do all these add ons I would have to say must be at least in the $80 to 85 grand so far.

    The Gladiator is looking nice. A shell with opening sides and back would be pretty functional. One from the down under comes to mind. Very nice build so far. Keep em coming.

    I have an 18' wide by 8' high garage door. Can get just about anything through that door. Thats an upgrade you need. 😉😉
