    I think this might be perfect for artist, to get close to the sound we want. I'm not saying to replace the mix engineer, but normally you have a sound in mind that you cannot express. This seems really intuitive. You might get close to that sound before you send it to mix.

    At first I also thought this was going to be just another "multiband" or "shaping" eq plugin. Also convinced myself a few times there are a lot of better plugins out there, in fact cheaper or better. But after days of using the trial mode, I did notice that it doesn't only equalize/compress a lot of frequencies. It's AI also makes the sound a lot warmer compared to other plugins. It does add/reduce some frequencies and makes it more pleasing. IMO it really does a lot more things than just flattening it or compressing it. It's expensive but I see why it is priced as such. I just wish they can give loyal oeksound customers a better deal.

    I've come to realise that Spiff is OEK's most powerful and useful plugin. The way you can completely sculpt the RMS of a sound before saturation and compression is where the fat juicy drums come from. Soothe 2 is great but man the texture and fatness you can get out od Spiff is unparalleled.

  • @alsoulmusic

    The other question is whether you know how to work a multi band compressor or other devices well enough to get the results of bloom. If you do then you don't need this. Setting up those multi-band compressors that you showed makes my brain hurt. I like the fact that I can play around with it and see if I like what it is doing. I don't have to think about it much when I mix. Like others are saying, this gives me my time back.

  • @TomUsurp
    @TomUsurp2 ай бұрын

    First off I love Soothe2 and always use just a bit of it in vocal and master chains, but I don't see the clear need for this plugin at least not yet. I mean Soothe2 already does something super similar and its resonance suppression can affect the tonal balance and somewhat flatten the spectrum as well, plus its sidechaining features are incredible. But there is literally no immediate audible difference in your A/B master example at the end of the video. But it needs more testing. I personally like flattening my music as much as possible at least in the mids and highs to reduce ear fatigue and there's already quite a bit of tools for that, compression, eq, dynamic or multiband compression, resonance compression (soothe2), waveshaping

    How did you get the vocals for this track? Is that a library or do you hire/know singers that are able to record the vocals for you to use? Been trying to learn how to get something like that for dance/edm tracks but I always assume it is some group or recording studio setup with access to singers. Those of us hobbyists at home, unsure how we would be able to get that.. at least until AI improves and we could use that to generate (sort of kidding.. but reality is that will likely be the way to do this soon).

Watch the oeksound team use it and it sounds great on vocals

    Great video as usual! Thank you! I think this plugin does the same as Equalizer plugin by Wavesfactory. Am I wrong? Equalizer is a kind of 32-band dynamic eq with the goals of literally equalise the signal of all 32 bands reacting to the incoming signal, with a variety of controls similar to the ones on this Bloom plugin (but cheaper). Can you make a comparison of these two plugins please?

    It's not the same as the Pro MB. Pro MB as you're using is doing downward compression. The Bloom is doing upward compression. You can notice it when you use a percussive element. The transient stayed intact because its not downward compression but upward. Thats why you notice about the sharpness. Its just the transients that stay the same.

    I'm listening to this demo and I understand what you really need for your production 😁 And this is hardware. Believe me, when you run your clean, neat multitrack through the hardware channel strip (SSL fusion or 500 rack you have assembled), you will hear just the sound that distinguishes ITB production from world-class sound. First of all, the bottom will change for the better, but also the top will soften, while the top end will become much more readable. In your case, as a professional producer, you need to stop spending money on software

  • @LETTMusic

    I feel like Wavesfactory Equalizer already handles tonally flattening sound and also supports mid-side. You can just pair that with a transient shaper to bring out the sustain side of something if you wanted. Ozone 11's Clarity module also kind of does this tonal balance stuff as well. OTT or ADPTR Sculpt is also something that can more or less do something similar from a multiband compression stand point. Upwards compression also can emulate bringing up the sustain part because it's going to take the quieter parts and bring it up, so you can do that with any multiband compressors that supports upwards compression. I personally can't justify the cost for this given what else is out there that's still simple enough in interface that you don't have to go as heavy in depth with something like Fab Filter Pro MB 2.
