Awesome shots as always man 💪🏻 really interesting lenses, I was debating on this ones or the spectrum line form my FX30 because that covers FF so in a future I already have that covered, but I still think the spectrum lenses are the ones I’d go for 👌🏻

I think so too. It’s nice to have the super shallow DOF sometimes but it’s hard to justify a full on purchase for me

I got the 25MM for my pocket 4k after getting the 12MM. I use to rock the Zhong YI Optics Mitakon Speedmaster at 25MM but wanted to step away from the lens because the back mounting plate is held together by 3 stupidly tiny screws. Like screws you would see holding together some glasses. Over time the back mounting plate would come lose and could fall off if you dont tighten them. So now I switched to the 7artisans 25MM I was almost tempted on sending the 7artisans back because how stupidly soft it was at T1. then I noticed something interesting with the two lenses on my black magic. T1 on the 7artisans was brighter then T 1 on the speed master. If I dropped down the 7artisans to T1.4. Minus some Chromatic Aberrations that usually disappear post color grade. It would look exactly the same as the speed master at T1. Bokeh, brightness and everything. Looking at the two lenses closely. The glass on the 7artisans is bigger. So makes me wonder. Does the speed master actually go to T1 or is it T1.4? Or is the 7artisans actually going further then T1?

Thanks for this detailed comment, I was interested in getting the Mitakon Speedmaster lenses, but now after reading this "3 tiny screws" part, it got me worried, and now I think that 7artisans might be a better choice...

Have you tried using a different camera and T1.05 instead of the Sigma FP? Just wondering as some reviewers says it’s sharp at T1.05 using the FX30 or R7

  • @Ansonandco

So personally- no, but there other reviews out there from other camera systems that say the same thing. The only thing is that the review with the most views right now is a dude that uses Sony, and I think he just wanted to be positive about them. But there are plenty of reviews talking about the softness

Interesting, yeah I never had an issue with it being super soft. It may not be clinically sharp, but it should be usable at t2

@@Ansonandco Thanks for responding! I see, its doesnt look like anything youve showcased in your video..:( So decided to sell it, and try my hand at the fullframe (spectrum) line instead, hopefully theyre more to my liking. I have tried the 35mm spectrum on a fx3 and it looked amazing to hopefully its a better fit!

I feel like these lower end companies releasing "fast" lenses all would be better off being more conservative, because they're almost always garbage wide open. What's the point of a T 1.05 lens if you're never going to use it wide open because of how soft it is? Honestly it makes me less interested/willing to buy their lenses because I feel like they're being dishonest.

Same! They put out their t2 lenses and those were fantastic. That should be their only set they focus on. It just feels like a gimmick otherwise
