I really enjoy seeing antique pieces like this piano stool being fixed up instead of trashed. They are so ornate with their turned legs and leg braces. The wood grain is absolutely beautiful. Even if there's no piano to go with it, it can still easily be repurposed in other parts of the home.

The finish on that stool looks so good that it almost seems like it has a leather cushion hehe. And as far as your viewers... the love you get is because you put good things out there and people take notice.

So very outstanding that Ray took the opportunity to share his kindness and abilities to make you a much-needed (and SAFE!) machine guard!

My wife has a piano stool like that one. Her Dad found it at the city dump in Great Barrington, MA. He took out the spindle and she painted it aqua green. Many years later we rescued it from her Mom's basement and I restored it. The wood underneath is beautiful and is now a honey maple color. I found another spindle so the seat raises and lowers now. It's with her desk, another dump rescue and is now in our spare bedroom.

I really love watching your videos. I love that you're doing what a customer wants and usually it's maintaining the wood and not painting over it. I have a piece from my grandfather that was made in Minnesota with Knapp joints. From what I understand, those were used in the 1870s and 80s. There's no veneer it's all solid wood

I have a similar piano stool from my childhood. My sister used it for a plant stand for years so there are water marks on the top. Also it was in a storage pod for a couple of years so the old finish looks like patchy tar from the heat. I’m so glad to have it. We actually have a piano to use it with. Your video will be very helpful for when I start that restoration. Thanks so much.

Tins Shane to finish that in such a dark walnut. That looked like a pretty maple when you got it all sanded down. It would’ve looked nice just putting a coat of polyurethane on and leaving it the light color. However, I’m sure you’ve learned to what the public wants the public gets, provided they can pay for it. But that maple color would’ve been beautiful left natural! You do beautiful work thank you for sharing with us.

although it may look nice and light when covered in sanding dust it actually would look horrible and blotchy just clear coated with no stain at that point. the end grain will always be dark on these pieces so its better overall to go in a color closer to the original. cheers
