When I started in the car wholesale business in my 20's I wanted to buy and drive amazing sporty cars. After realizing why they were being sold at the auction and learning they were the best looking car on the flatbed after they broke, I realized that owning a modest reliable daily driver was the wisest thing to do.

Euro cars, you can get burned real fast on them if you don't specialize/know them. Especially high mileage stuff.

I've had a S550 04 and an 08. Mercedes is ahead of the game every year with tech. You got a good deal. Like you said you can always repair anything that breaks. Good luck with it! Enjoy. I'm currently excitedly looking for 2016 or 2017 S63 AMG.

I have a 2011 Audi TT Quattro S Line w/142K miles. 2.0 TFSI & a 6 speed automatic transmission. Since August 2021 this car has been a daily driver, driven to Mexico 6 times, drove it from Arizona to Indiana & Louisiana for my job, dodging traffic on I-10W, & outran (stoplight to stoplight), a new Charger Hemi RT w/392, a VW Golf GTI & more Dodge RAM hemi's than I can count. Yes, its had maintenance; oil leaks fixed, struts, brakes, etc., but still drives great and fast.

One needs to budget for repairs for these....simple issues like leaks can be quite expensive due to the labor. As was mentioned the suspension can set you back quite a bit to replace the factory set up.

You'd almost be right, if not 98% of them are already driven into the ground, repairs are still the same if not more like when they were a new $80k car and especially the expensive ones are regularly passed on to the next owner. So the 3rd or 5th guy is likely looking at another $10k+ to make it sound again.
