A lot of ppl are using this camera and it certainly very Versatle. It’s great for getting long focal length type images utilizing 800-1000mm setups. The pixel size really puts it in the sweet spot for those focal lengths.

Thanks for the good info.....I got the 183mc to use with my Celestron Evolution 6 for live view mode on my Samsung S6 tablet for my young grandsons to see bright objects in the night sky. I've ordered an ASIAIR Plus and an EAF (requires a printed adapter for 6" sct) to run the scope inside our home. Amazing tech in the last few years! Thanks, Michael

I've used the 183 mc pro for over a year now and have taken many amazing images with it.

Had the 183mc cooled version, while it did take some amazing captures it did suffer from significant amp-glow on midpoint right side edge especially during long exposures. Darks and Flats help but all too often I simply cropped that area out. In the end sold it and moved onto the 533 mc pro and haven't looked back. I do miss the wide format the 183 provided and the Moon shots were impressive. Despite what I consider a drawback with the amp-glow it is a worthwhile camera.

I have the mono pro camera along with the Zwo mini filter wheel and I like the combination as they connect and respond well together. Having upgraded from the Altair 183C uncooled after several years its good to be able to take 300s and 600s exposures now at -10C and under in both RGB and narrowband filters. The amplow is excessive though but with darks of the same temp. and duration it can be effectively removed by calibrating images before stacking them. Cooled cameras are a fair bit more expensive than uncooled, though the Altair 183C has an air circulation fan fan and is for less than 90secs exposures though.

There's a new kid on the block ASI ZWO 585. Any testing and opinion on that one, seems very good since, as claimed, no amp glow!? Other than that great videos, keep them coming!

Great Video - Thoughts on using the non-cooled, color version with the Micro Four Thirds version of the Rokinon 135mm lens? From what I understand - with this setup using the ZWO T2-M43 adapter - I wouldn't be able to use any filters. If I want to use it for Deep Space Objects - would the non-cooled, color version be a useable option?

I have this camera, I am going to use it with the ZWO ASIAIR PLUS mounted on my HEQ5PRO with an Explorer Scientific 102 edt triplet. Hoping for good results, the camera specs match up well with this scopes focal ratio and I have used Stellarium to gather objects to photograph that should fill or almost fill the frame. Wish me luck...

How is the amp glow on the non cooled version at longer exposures

Do other versions of these ZWO cameras have the ability to increase the frames per second by dropping resolution (for planetary), or is it just the ASI183?

Hey Mike! You don't need a Raspberry Pi to run that kind of rig if you're using a laptop. But if you wanted to, you could ditch the laptop altogether and use the ZWO ASIAIR Plus to control that entire rig: optcorp.com/products/zwo-asiair-plus-wireless-imaging-controller

I would go with the 294 mc cooled , very versatile.

One thing that I find very frustrating is that reviews hardly ever show the images that this camera can produce specs are great but I really want to see some images so I can see for myself what it can do

I bought a ZWO ASI183mc. It is very nice. USe it for EAA.

Had one traded it for the 294mc which is THE most well rounded

bigger pixels?

Does anyone know of a reason for this pro camera's usb hub to stop working? It was fine when i first got it and then it randomly stopped working. Powered and unpowered.

It has a much smaller sensor, it's only really for planetary, but you can use it on small galaxies , because how it crops in.

Is the ASI183mc pro better or the qhyccd183c?

Both cameras share the same exact sensor, so you can expect similar results for both! One thing to keep in mind is that the ZWO ASI183MC will work with ZWO's product ecosystem including the ASIAIR, whereas the QHY camera will not.

I’ve got a 183GT, quite enjoyable. Love the resolution and QE, wish it had a little bit more well depth, but then, doesn’t everyone? I’m also new so I probably just suck.

I can’t smash my like button because I like my iPhone. I’ll press like if I can start imaging by July. Impressive specs on the camera. If you guys get my mount to me by July I’ll press like on the next 1,000 videos. I might even smash it.

Yeah but the 183mm-p has terrible bias noise and bias darks still leave the final integration banded. I have several Zwo cameras and none have this problem

The Sony IMX183 sensor is getting a bit long in the tooth. It is a few generations behind the current generation where the stacked layers are used, which increases quantum efficiency even more.
