I stacked up 3 years on a website and got Xbox gold converted to Game Pass Ultimate. So I got Ultimate for 4.5$ a month.

No it’s not too much. People are going to complain no matter what.

Il be honest,Playstation lost me as a customer a long time ago, so did nintendo and xbox was on a thread. When you realize that these companies really don't care about anything but adding another 0 at the end of each quarter games stop being fun and everthing you have bought from these companies turns into a waste of space ,time and money.

Yes this price increase was my personal final straw. I am for two ultimate accounts in my household and have been waiting patiently for family share. This price hike was too much in this economy. I told the kids we are moving off the Xbox ecosystem and going to be only Steam going forward.

Yeah…. They definitely aren’t hitting 100 million if they keep price gouging.

I think the next increase is ludicrous. Heck even today’s price is too high. But I’m a cheap bastard and my friends are too. Don’t know anyone that actually pays full price. I never have.

In todays economy, people are subscription cutting. XBOX made a critical mistake & probably now will lose more than gain from this.

Or wait for a sale and get Valhalla for like under $20, Black Ops is the same thing every year and on top of that no release date for majority of the games mentioned. Indiana Jones is slated to come out this year but has no official release date. Xbox just constantly breaks promises I personally wouldn’t trust them anymore.

Started to think of saving for a PC, a little disappointed with next gen consoles, bad optimization, 60fps only 70% of the games. Not what expected at all, yes they ate cheaper but in the end you get for what you pay.

That's what I did. Max settings at 4k with RT and still get like 80-150fps on games and with DLS quality it's even better with no noticeable quality loss.

Random complement: I like the new "Starting Soon" intro you got going now.

This is the first time I've seriously considered not renewing my subscription. I've felt a noticeable decline in the quality and quantity of the monthly games.

I will remain subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate. An entire year’s sub cost $240 US . That’s a little more than full price of 3 AAA games. It’s still a bargain IMO

Standard is the way to go IMO. Day one games aren’t finished products. We all know games ship unfinished. Why pay extra to beta? Don’t be a sucker. Don’t FOMO kids!

I think Xbox operates as if they aren’t in third place too much. Their new console sku’s aren’t enticing, the changes to gamepass will turn away new customers, their first party games going multiplatform make their own box unnecessary, etc. if they were in first place all of these choices would make more sense to me. Their consoles should be cheaper, gamepass should keep day one games and most of their games should stay exclusive for at least a year.

If they want cloud gaming to take off they need to to add it standard game pass as well

Do I understand correctly that when Sony increased the cost of all types of PS plus by 30% last year, this was fine, and when xbox increased the cost of subscriptions with day one games (cod, doom, gears, fable next year) by 17%, this is too much ? Yes, it’s bad that everything is becoming more expensive, but this bias is so stupid. Xbox tax is real, as always.

Question. If you're already subscribed to ultimate will the increase affect you or is this only for new subscribers?

Why is it to much? Xbox has had 1 first party title this year so far. So instead of being forced to pay for ultimate. You can lower to standard when the pastures are lean. I bet Microsoft would rather you do that than cancel.

yes, my brother in law sold his Series X because he was loving the free subscription by using his Microsoft Rewards points to pay for Game Pass Ultimate every month, just like many did, I am selling my Series X also, so many of them on craigslist now also lol.. We both went back to Playstation 5. If I am going to pay $20 a month, its going to be on the better console which is the Playstation 5.

I do not play or own a Gaming PC. Gaming on PC makes no sense financially or even logistically. Entry cost of a gaming computer is 1.000$ let’s say. On the cheaper end. It will take me 10y “saving 100$ per year” by paying PC Game Pass to make up the money if I were to switch from console to PC instead of continuing paying Game Pass (off course I am not counting the money I spent getting the console). New PC gamers

There are only 3 games I've played on game pass and invested money in to them. Eso , f76 and d2. Every other game on game pass is low to mid tier for me. Adding call of duty won't change that as I hate that game. I bought a pc not long ago and this might be the push I need to fully migrate over

*PREDICTION* Game Pass Ultimate will eventually adopt a system where you have to "Earn your day 1 games". By this I mean you will have to be subbed to game pass ultimate for at least 3-6 CONSECUTIVE months before you will be able to play new releases day 1. If you cancel at any time you will be reset and must be a recurring sub again for another 3-6 months before you get day 1 games again. The current test for this is the standard tier where current recurring subscribers still get day 1 games if they keep up their subscription. The purpose of this is to stop people from only subbing once or twice a year, letting a bunch of games stack up and then playing them all under 1 single months subscription before cancelling and waiting another 6 months to repeat the process. I can totally see this happening. Thoughts?

I have my Xbox series X up for sale and switched back to PS five. I’ve always loved PlayStation more anyway because I have 187 platinum trophies and a little over 900 digital games in the cloud.

I’m playing fewer games nowadays and when I do play I want to engage with the highest quality experience that caters to my personal taste; this price hike means I will end my subscription when it expires (unless there is a significant drop of top notch games I want to play) and revert to the a la carte model. I can only sustain so many subscriptions and my family vastly favour movie/ tv subs.

Yes, the Xbox Game Pass Change is too much. Because... [1] People are hurting economically. It's the wrong time to increase prices (especially so soon). [2] Game Pass PC has Day One Releases. There needs to be a comparable console only Tier that also includes Day One Releases without going to Ultimate. [3] Phil Spencer said there would be no price increases, particularly in the FTC hearings. This is a slap in the face. But I get the impression that with the heavy investment into the Xbox division, Phil has less control and Satya Nandella and the CFO and board are getting more involved and dictating many of the recent changes and direction. Maybe it was not such a good thing for Xbox to gain more of a profile on Microsoft's radar. They are probably not the independent side division they once were and will never be again. But, if Microsoft doesn't increase prices again for at least 3 to 5 years I could live with: - Game Pass Core = Xbox Network + Back Catalogue + Deals @ $9.99 per month (or $69.99 Annually) - Game Pass Standard = Xbox Network + Back Catalogue + Day One Releases + Deals @ $14.99 per month - Game Pass PC = Back Catalogue + Day One Releases + Deals + EA Play @ $12.99 per month - Game Pass Ultimate = Combination of Game Pass Standard & Game Pass PC + Cloud Gaming + Perks @ $19.99 per month Only Ultimate would include Cloud gaming natively. I would then create Xbox Cloud Gaming as a separate item that could be added to either Core, Standard, or PC for $1.99 extra per month. Bottom line: There needs to be a Tier for console that includes Day One Releases without having to go to Ultimate (where console gamers are paying for PC access and Cloud gaming they may not want or ever use).
