I'm trying to convince myself to play with the Winfield again. I used to love them-all of them: compact ammo variants with FMJ or HV, the Centennial with all its ammo types (they're all great), the Slate with slugs and buckshot, and the Terminus with Flechette or Dragonbreath. Winfields covered me on all fronts. My nickname is Captain Winfield, lol (I know lots of folks on the East server hate me for some reason; sorry, boys, for letting you down). But lately, I discovered the Marathon. Then the Marathon Swift with FMJ. Then the Katana. It's so good. I can't really explain why. Hipfire works better for me than levering. The sights are better. The appearance and animations are more satisfying. I don't know what to do. Should I rename myself Captain Marathon now? Am I even a captain after that?

hey GG, you just killed my team a couple matches ago, i was slate boi, i saw you sneaking around, and let you go because i just kinda felt bad shooting you in the head when you were fighting a team, i sure paid the price though. hope to see you in the bayou again sometime

great video as always :] I do agree with pretty much all your points, the marathon is better if youre using iron eye or just plain hipfiring and dont want any custom ammos, where the winnie has custom ammos, variants, and levering and doesn't preform as bad without iron eye. and as a fellow hunt meta protester its very valid that you dont like using fmj or high velo, we need more people like you in the bayou!

Never liked the winnie for the damage falloff and a disappointing sound. Marathon, on the other hand, packs a punch, especially swift + fmj and sounds more poweful

I think…. For me personally, the Winnie only has an odd variant I will very rarely run with any more…. & that’s probably the Musket variant with bayonet. I actually prefer the Marathons sights and sight picture.

I will not stand for any winny slander, it’s my baby, especially the talon

i love me a good winnie talon w poison levering so my primary alone can kill every boss and any hunter

I think the Marathon won't go past Winfield when it comes to all the weapon variants we have and the value with traits (even if Winfield levering is harder than marathon hip-fire) And now that bosses have become noticeable more tough to kill with melee tools i've been going with the Winfield Talon and Bayonet variants a lot more, which helps a lot to rushing bosses

Marathon is great if you want a fast firing ADS rifle. However if you have both levering and iron eye than the winfield all the way. Especially cause there is a flavor of Winnie for every occasion.

Right now the Marathon is simply better in most ways except winnie has levering and HV Ammo, also winnie has subjectively better Iron Sights. So winnie can be better for pushing close or getting easier head taps from range with HV ammo, that is until they potentially add HV to marathon lol, then marathon will be better stats wise in every way except levering up close.

Marathons aiming fire rate is far slower than the Winnie without iron eye, but with iron eye the Winnie still shoots faster by a bit

I think levering winnie with fmj is still amazing. However, marathon is a better new player gun

I know its an old video an you probably sont see this comment but i realy wanna hear your take on the compact meta ! especisly with the New announcments long ammo gonna take a hit so compact and medium ammo will have more of the spotlight :)

To answer your question though, I don’t think Long ammo is going to fall out of the meta, as it just has too many upsides that compact and medium don’t have (125+ damage, high pen and velocity without need for custom ammo). Since we haven’t yet seen any bullet drop for anything aside from very long range long ammo, it’s hard to say what the meta is gonna look like after the update, but I bet we’ll be seeing a lot more high velocity and spitzer ammo (assuming they don’t get changed) because players will want an easy way to reduce bullet drop instead of learning the trajectory. Marathon is still worse than the Winfield with perks. The 3 extra damage doesn't amount to much. And the velocity is only like 30 more or something. People over exaggerate how much better it is I feel.

The hate for HV I understand, but FMJ is not a straight upgrade. If anything, it is the most balanced special ammo type because you make a concession by paying for penetration with your velocity. FMJ is significantly slower than the other ammo types. HV is a straight upgrade, incendiary only loses pen, poison only loses pen. They are all easier to land than FMJ.

I just have to say skill issue when it comes to levering, I love ya Ari but I think you need to run more levering to learn the spray pattern it really makes it easier to land shots consistently

Swift, but not levering.... interesting Also, a big advantage to taking default compact ammo is its insane pickup, and how much easier it is to final normal ammo crate.

I wish I could tell what weapon you are talking about when someone says "Winnie".

The Winny will always be a Noob's and a Prestiger's best friend. It won't one-shot at close range, and long range is tenuous. But it truly is the king of all-rounder medium-range, and the number of variants it has makes it one of the best flex-weapons for any loadout!

Winchester dont need iron eye to be functional, so its better than marathon already imo.

Hey, you can be whatever you want and I’m not going to give you guff for it. But don’t tell me what I can or can’t be! I’m normal (and normal should never be read as “correct,” or “better” - it’s obviously not, its just what virtually everyone has been for as long as we’ve kept history). To me “cis” and “straight” are not words I need, but if you like them I’m fine with that. Either way, I’m a dude, I like women (as dudes usually do lol), and you should of course believe people when they tell you that. Same respect you want. I watch your videos because you play well and have some good commentary, I couldn’t care less about the rest. Keep on clappin’ people 💪
