Really like the GTI 380 i test drove but ended up with a 23 WRX Limited 6MT. My wife and i thought the cargo area was too small in the GTI when we had our kids in it, which is 99% of the time when we're going somewhere. So far, happy with the VB, but I'm still drooling over the GTI platform ❤

@@purifiedryziq yeah I don't know how a dct with paddle shifters and you remove the shifters would damage the automatic transmission

Hey man! Great vids, please keep em coming. Quick question for you. I have a TR (RS) in Canada on order. I wanted to try the competition so I went and tried a GTI and now I am considering the R. LOVED the GTI but FWD is a deal breaker. I have my eyes on a 2022 R for which I would get a good deal and pay the same as my TR with 20k miles on it. Only thing is that the RS in Canada is only 44k$ CAD while it’s 42 USD so I feel the price is impossible to beat. My goal is to have a practical fun gas car that I will keep 10 years and enjoy it even when they take away all those cars because of emissions! Let me know what you think!

Thanks for watching! What is the price difference between the R and TR? Also, what makes you consider the TR over a limited or Premium Wrx?

@Gonin60 They’re they exact same price, but the R has 20k miles on it. Considering the TR because of the Recaro’s, wheels and brembos and the suspension work they did. From what I am reading, it looks like the TR is fixing most of that was wrong with the WRX. I love the R basically for the same reasons as you, + I think it’s definitely a more grown-up car, more classy and less of a cop magnet. I do worry about buying it used however, for reliability and what not. In my area, new golfs are still going over MSRP which would mean 10,000$ more than a TR…

@@zacharievachonmorin5556 I’ll give you my opinion and it won’t be popular. Don’t buy the golf r especially used. Don’t buy the TR. Yes the suspension and brakes etc are nice but it’s still way overpriced for what it is. Recaros would be nice. I would find a good deal on a new limited trim and save some money.

@@Gonin60 He's in Canada, the prices are a little different over there. It's the RS, which is $44,000 CAD, translating to $31,000USD.

First off enjoy the videos, second when are you getting the black plates…. That the new fad here in Utah!!! Haha ok now for a serious comment…. As much as I agree the golf R is a better car. But in my opinion the two cars are not even in the same category… German cars are just built different, and the R has always been the pinnacle for vw in practical performance car. It’s like comparing an Audi to the Subaru… while I see where you’re coming from AWD, turbocharged, practical daily cars. If this was a comparison to the WRX, and GTI it’d make a bit more sense to me… both are in my opinion closer in weight class if that makes sense. But like I said that my opinion!! Haha enjoying the videos keep them coming!

I agree. I’m just comparing two cars I have owned. I’m not a fake reviewer who doesn’t own or drive the cars for more than an hour. I’m providing perspective on what I know but you are right and they are in different classes.

It better be a better daily driver, in Canada thats a 60,000$+ car after taxes, i got my VB for 29,000$.

@Gonin60 All good every car has it's flaws I couldn't afford a R even if wanted one. Got my base 23 VB last week $28k 1.9% 72 month otherwise I'd be driving a base civic/corolla 😆

Just test drove a VB vs a Golf R and there is no way in hell the Subaru is more fun than the R (both 6MT). For the negligible price asked (46 for the WR vs 52 for the R) the golf is a no brainer.
