Thank you so much for giving a video of a parent of small kids perspective. I was looking into these for my kids around the same age who splash all over the floor and mat and it’s so hard to find reviews to address that scenario. Also, I 100% love that you show your real house. Homes should look loved in and you have kids there should be toys in the tub and things not look like a curated show home!

Seriously LOVE ours!! Family of 5. Littles and teens. Sanding it is part of it… but only a quick downside. I bought mine a year ago. Just searched for these videos to see how others are cleaning theirs. And fully intend on buying another one for the second bath. We have the dark gray one… you don’t see stains. :)

Thanks for the review. I was thinking of getting this. Also, all of us parents appreciate the realistic home look. I don't live in a show home and I don't have a cleaning service. I am a mom, a grandma, a wife, a human. I also have pets, so I prefer the look of a family home. I would rather spend my time hugging my children or grandchildren, playing peak-a-boo or throwing the ball for my dog. I make no excuses for dog hair, dust, a old jelly bean under the fridge or cat toys laying around. Live, love, laugh with your family. You'll have plenty of time to clean the nook and crannies when they go off to make their own life.

Do you put it directly on the floor or do you use the anti slip thin mat that comes with it always underneath it . I would like to put it directly on the floor but I'm afraid it might cause mould underneath it 🤔😔

Discoloration and difficulty sanding grooves deters me from buying.

We’ve had our Sutera mats for about 2 months - use them daily, but have not had any water spilled on, etc. only for stepping out of the shower. Both mats are warping on all four corners making the edges lift. Thus becoming a tripping hazard. Have you had any of these issues and how can I avoid? Bought them both off Amazonthinking of returning and exchanging, but want to avoid in the future.

Does sanding get rid of the pink colorations?

My Sutera bath mat snapped in half as I picked it up and gently put it on my lap. Never even got to use it. I’ll try and glue it together.

We had a negative experience with these Sutera stone bath mats, unfortunately. We purchased two as Christmas gifts during a November sale. After very light use by one person, one of the stone bath mats BROKE COMPLETELY IN HALF in February, so we reached out to Sutera to ask about a replacement. They said no, that since it had been more than 30 days it was not covered. That seems like a restrictive policy - that a company will not guarantee the quality of their expensive product for at least 3 months. We would DEFINITELY not recommend that you purchase given this experience, especially if it is a high traffic bathroom or you have kids. Just pick up a cute bath mat at Target and they will stand by their products.

Has the mat hurt the floor any? scratches or marks? I have a new floor.

according to the person I talked to from the company it's 2kg. hope this helps.

If you got a shower and you step on the mat and you have a tile bathroom floor is your foot going to be dry enough to then step on the tile without slipping is the mat going to take enough water off of your foot that you’re not going to slip on a tile floor?

As you can see our floor is tile and the mat sits on there. There is a nonslip mat that you put under the stone, and I find that it absorbs most of the water from my feet. I do have to say that I’m pretty goood at drying off before I step out of the shower, so I’m just getting the reminants of the water on the mat

How do you stop it from smelling like mold?

We haven’t had that issue, but my wife brings it outside once every few months and scrubs it with Castile soap to clean it. Also make sure water is not getting underneath it. Maybe mold is collecting under there? I’m not 100% sure.

It's a great idea, but you still need to clean and sanitize it. A marketing point about these mats is that "water evaporates quickly, so it doesn't harbor bacteria." This contradicts their same points that "the porous diatomaceous earth the mat is made up of absorbs water at 150x its weight." So it's porous AND absorbent, meaning water doesn't actually evaporate. So you'll still get bacteria along with whatever dirt gets wedged in the pores. However, it still beats traditional mats

Sanding the mat is so much work and dust gets everywhere that's why I had to throw it away. Eventually it started to stop absorbing water after a while and when I sanded it the dust was black and took so much for me to get it off the actual mat. Even still after I sanded it the black dust would get on my feet 😩They should really come up with a better sander/way to clean it.

A nicely done review. I have two of these (side by side because they are smaller than many bath mats). I notice your mat is in the early stages of what happened to ours and then just got worse. When you step on it from side to side it shows that the mat is not laying flat on what I assume to be flat and level floor tiles. Both of my mats did the same and now, some months later, they have continued to warp and are trippers. Such a shame for an otherwise excellent product.

Hate sanding. I'll take my chances with regular bath mats and keep multiples around so one is on the floor and other in the wash machine. Probably can buy many mats compared to price of this stone. As a woman I'm always looking for easier, faster, cheaper when it comes to clean up. This just looks like extra work. Your review was good and honest but didn't sell me. Getting out the hairdryer? No way. Also, I'll towel off in the tub/shower so I'm not stepping out sloppy wet. As for the critic. Antonio, screw you. Go clean your own toilet. I'm not looking to clean this dude's house. I'm looking into a product and if it's worth the cost.

You dont have to hair dryer it if you dry off in the tub/shower already. He uses it bc they put excessive water on it. That’s not the norm if its just meant to adult use. A light sanding is a heck of a lot easier than throwing a bath mat in a washer and waiting for it to air dry so it doesn’t get ruined in a dyer. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had to go back and check your bathroom "mess" and I don't see anything wrong with it, just a regular bathroom. People are weird.

I will say, it is amazing what some people (not necessarily him) will voluntarily film as if they were ambushed and had no time to make the place decent. We don't cone unannounced to you, you come willingly to us.

Silliest concept I've ever seen. To think that that slab of discolored moldy rock is more hygienic than a mat you can throw in the wash is silly. And the only way to get the stains off is to sit there with a little sandpaper and scrub it off tediously? No thanks. At the end when you said you received the product for free then I understood all I needed to know.

It never molded on us, and you can use an electric power sander to speed up the process. We still use ours after the year or so that we owned it, and it works great. If it didn’t, I would have sent it back to the company and not have made the video.

Natural environment review. I would be more concerned with audio and video quality. Both are fine.

Diatomaceous Powder is bad for your lungs. Sand the mat down outside wearing a mask.

It stinks if is 2 wet 2 much maybe be nice if they came scented or had oils yo had on them .

Oh. It looks like China has figured out what to do with the Dolomite mines. This is a very porous stone that is used in water filters. Interesting use as a bath mat.
