Good vid man. I'm a big fan of the retro collection, but only for OT stuff.. There's definitely a healthy demand for 5POA OT figures. Some of the Stan Solo droid customs from a couple of years back are going for hundreds..

I just realized how much some of the early Stan Solo's are going for! I had to stop collecting them due to my tight budget but I'm glad I was able to snag most of his early figures on card.

I don’t care what they are worth. I love them because they are fun and are toys like I grew up with, rather than over articulated figurines like many action figures today 🪨

Same here and buying Yoda at clearance was a great find. I never saw him at retail and I bought him for $20 at a flea market.

I like them Michael! I buy some of them to replace the weapons from my childhood Kenner collection that are missing - Chewie, Leia, Sand People Jawa to name a few.

I have the Grand Moff Tarkin that came with the Escape From the Death Star board game. I also have a Luke Skywalker in X-Wing Pilot w/yellow goggles that came in the Escape From Ice Planet Hoth board game. I also have some of the Retro figures of Hoth Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, the Amazon exclusive IG-88 and Dengar two pack, and some others. I also found at Target a few months ago and bought are Endor Han Solo and Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight on ROTJ Retro cards. What I need are the Amazon exclusives Boba Fett and Bossk and Zuckuss and 4-LOM two packs.

If you consider all of the bounty hunter 2-packs,we did get an Empire Strikes back box set.

Imo this is more of a set for people to open and display. It's not about value. It's about giving people an affordable way to build a collection of the original molds. They can add in the new retro molds to help populate their displays.

The original Empire retro wave was super hard to find if Boba Fatt was not rerelease in the bounty hunter two pack he would have been the most valuable figure in the retro line .Plus the renement Stormtrooper from the Mando was in the monopoly is really hard to find too !!!

Yes I agree with the Boba Fett figure it would more than the Yoda right now and I rarely saw the retro Empire wave on the pegs.

I’m a og Collector and I like all the retro line. I wish they made them on the card stock like the prototype figures. also, they’re hard to find in my area.

Love this video! 😀 Interesting to find some of the Retro figures gaining value, although I have seen the original 6 going for around £100 on uk ebay, when I'd got them from a supermarket a few years back for £60. I did add 'Tar-quaar' and the dodgy boardgame but never opened it as well. Still haven't finished the original 12 yet, as ironically, I only looked at my pre-order from Pulse UK today, made back in early May (and sold out immediately) to find out it has been pushed back literally for the 4th/5th time to later October. No idea what has been going on with the UK stock for these? 😢

I have the second 'A New Hope' multipack on pre-order and it has indeed been pushed back multiple times for UK customers :( . I also wanted the ROTJ Multipack but here in the UK it sold out in 1.5 days after announcement at SDCC 2023, so will have to hope for a restock, i didnt order at the time as had been informed of job redundancy so had a good excuse. In the USA it seems to still be in stock ... no idea why the USA is flooded with stock yet the UK is crying out for more.

@@SecretOfMonkeyIsland784 Sorry to hear about your job. I have wanted the original 12 since I found the first 6 in Asda for 60 quid a few years back. No idea why this keeps being pushed back? I have October 18th as the date, but wouldn't be surprised if it's pushed back again... As you said, the Jedi pack sold out on Pulse very quickly.

@@davidedge2828 Thanks for the wishes on the job, sadly a tough year for a lot of people in the UK. A lot of toy suppliers (Mattel and others) are pushing back dates so maybe a holdup in the countries they are being made in (A guess). Yes id love the ROTJ pack, hopefully get one eventually, excited about a vac metal C3PO soon though :)

I love the retro OT figures. All of my childhood 1978-1983 figures are long, long gone, so in a manner of speaking I have some of them back. I had been waiting for Hasbro to do this since 1995! But, the Retro "non-OT" figures...no, no, no...not until we get all of the OT figures back😊

They are Kenner figures. Kenner was a subsidiary of General Mills and then Tonka when they made Star Wars figures and they are a subsidiary of Hasbro now. Kenner hasn’t been its own standalone company since 1967 or so. Six in one hand half dozen in the other, but for me, the Retros are as pure as the originals.

Wow, that’s weird. Greedo was also my first Star Wars toy back in 78

I just sold my entire collection for almost 300. I'm just keeping the prototypes and the ones that came with the games i.e. Remnant Stormtrooper, Tarkin, Luke

@ActionCollectiblesandMore Yeah, I knew I was gonna take a little loss on it, but it was just a matter of space. I need the room. Next is selling my TVC collection. I have like 28-30 Rubbermaid bins filled with them in figureshield cases and like probably a little over 100 from BBTS still in their collector grade boxes. Plus vehicles like the galaxies edge MF still in the Shipper, same with the Razor Crest, plus a few smaller vehicles/players i.e. Slave 1, Carbon freezing chamber, Tantive hallway etc.... it's gonna be a project lol

Sounds like a second job but you should make a nice profit.

Also what's up with the bubble sizes?, WAVE 1 had tiny bubbles that were big enough for the figure, weapon and pamphlet .... now the bubbles are massive just to hold a tiny figure.

Very true I don’t like the lack of consistency of the packaging and the big sticker.

Nearing 60 now and the future of certain figures going up in price isn’t relevant anymore ,I understand about not buying green bananas lol ,but the retro collection line I’ve been collecting them even though I hav a lose set and a re carded set ,I still love the vintage style SW figures on card it never gets old.

I agree and and even though I’ll collecting loose Kenner figures I still want these retros on the card.

I've got all the OT ones, most of them twice. As for the newer media in retro form I only picked up Mando and child, cheap.

It's all about marketing and getting those people who were old enough to remember going with their parents to see Star Wars in 1977 to buy and rekindle their childhood. And to give new fans a chance to own that what today's grand parents had. A part of toy making history that changed the way kids played in their back yards.Personally, I don't collect the retro figures. Why? Because I have them from '78 and i have no interest in adding the new "retro" as I feel they are boring and way over-priced. Now The Black series 6 inch and vintage 3.75 articulated and simply put, awesome figure line,, that's where the new toys are. If I wanted stiff armed and straight legged figures, I'd unbox my childhood.

Fair take I still like them just to have some of the classics on the card.

I like the idea and the concept behind the Retro Collection. I have 3 issues with this line. 1) it should have been original trilogy figuers only. 2) The oversized sticker and fake scuff marks around the card. 3) The back of the card should have had the yellow background with the figures displayed like the original Kenner cardbacks. The packaging is just as important to the.collector as the figure, so the whole deal should be retro, not just the figure.

Well for the sticker part, there were also oversized stickers on the original Kenner Star Wars figure packaging back then to advertise the new figures.

The sticker is intended to make it easy to tell that these are replicas, so resellers don't try to pass these off as super valuable 70s toys. I definitely don't agree about restricting it to just reissues, either. There were a lot of big holes in the old Kenner line (Snowspeeder Luke, Grand Moff Tarkin, etc) and I really want the prequel characters in the same style.

I have been collecting retro collection since day one, i think they are pretty much worthless here in the UK, you can easily get most of the figures from hobby shops, ebay or Amazon for affordable prices with the exception of the Amazon / Hasbro Pulse / board game and prototype exclusives. I got annoyed when they stopped selling them in single packs as i 'Cherry Pick' figures so now i have to buy a rubbish 'Death Squad Commander' or 'Mon Mothma' just so i can get R2-D2, C3PO, Wicket and Emperors Royal Guard :( . These will be going straight on eBay after purchase.

I’ll pass…..the second the figure becomes worth money Hasbro will release it again…..and the retro figures hold up the pegs at the local Walmart and they just sit for months…..the book of boba fett retro figures were just taken off the pegs finally…….

The retro collection should only have figures from the BD(before Disney)era.Disney media shouldn't be made in the classic Kenner style.

I like the value and they're close enough to hit the nostalgia the right way...I agree with you that they went too hard on the new stuff as I wasn't too interested in most...BUT they have made impact in the right direction with 6 pack of original 12 to complete that (with vac metal which everyone said we'd NEVER see again) and 6 more from Jedi ...I do wish these were actually available as individual purchases but pretty good experience overall and gives us old time vintage lovers an option that our wives wont kill us over

Makes no difference to shoppers. Figures over $10 sit on the pegs. Collectors can have fun increasing prices and then fall on their faces like the Ty Beanies. But the average consumers are not buying them and soon the Star Wars toys will be over. Also the prices on Ebay don't matter because a large percentage isn't getting bidded on and most that are, just lie that they shipped broken and get refunded and get the Retros for free. Ebay won't like if you sue.

Worth nothing. Worthy Only for scalpers and desperate people. That cardboard is not going to last nor the bubble.
