This just feels like such a wholesome release to me, it’s two beloved games coming back and the community at large seems to be very positive about its release, no negativity in sight. I really hope the player base stays consistent because I can see this collection being my go to game now.

Yeah. I know that Battlefront II was also on PSP, but like you’d expect, that was a watered-down port due to the hardware limitations. So it’ll be nice to have the complete Battlefront II experience on the go, and with the first Battlefront added for good measure.

@@grannytoes7221I really hope it gets Steam Workshop support. I can't imagine how easy and huge it would be if that ever happens. It's not completely impossible to expect either since they did the same thing with KOTOR II. They didn't do it for KOTOR 1 and Jedi Academy but I'm guessing they didn't do it for those because Lucasfilm would be competing against themselves with the remake and Jedi Fallen Order series of games respectively. If nothing else, the Steam version being the only place to get a legacy sale and it already being Steam Deck verified before the game is released gives me hope. When and if they would actually do it though is the question.

You'll have more fun on this game for $30 then the next COD for $70

as someone without a pc and has never played it i think this is without a doubt worth it. especially with 64 player game modes

These are the two greatest games I've ever played in my life, so to have them in a new, crisp restoration with 64 player battles and all those extra features we wanted but didn't get back in the day, I'd say yes it is worth it 😊 I just hope it launches correctly and we don't have a repeat of what happened with EAfront 2 🤞

I had Battlefront 2 for the PS2, and I literally played it as a kid until the disk became too scratched up and stopped working. I look forward to enjoying the nostalgia, but also new experiences with Battlefront 1

I was obsessed with this game (bf2)back in the day. Every day after school I’d come home, watch toonami and then play galactic conquest for hours and when that got boring I’d do the story mode and instant battles and when that was boring I’d go back to galactic conquest and on and on for that whole school year. Never even touched multiplayer, so this will definitely be worth it for me.

I still play both games on the ps2. I mean sure the internet servers are not available and never will... I mean the newer consoles can be a hit and miss for me because I'm more of a nostalgic person when it comes to gaming consoles battlefront one and two because that's what I grew up with... some of the new games nowadays in newer consoles can be a good thing it just depends on my mood for them because it's just not the same nostalgia memories growing up you know... but I never played Counterstrike sorry Greedo I didn't play it but I've heard about it but just didn't had the time to play it because I played games like Wizard 101 and good ol Miniclip before they got rid of most of the games that was on the site... AHHH!!! I'm still infuriated by that... But yea early to mid-2000s were wild man! But I see this as a good thing for younger Star Wars fans to experience the nostalgia that we grew up with... I think they'll find the battlefront 2 "Rise of The Empire" campaign interesting and it's my favorite campaigns in video games of all time... (sorry if I'm editing but this game is if not the greatest game of all time!!!!) but also see how the Empire still uses the clones for the 501st best known as "Vader's Fist". Which by the way is my favorite part of the game because that's what I believe the Empire uses clones for the Empire because how old they were getting during the empire missions rather than recruiting average nobody's on the streets in the Star Wars canon timeline.... LOOKING AT YOU DISNEY!!! My favorite campaign missions are Knightfall (Order 66) and the very first empire mission on Naboo to eliminate the queen of Naboo but my favorite one that tops it all is fighting the clone army in Kamino getting a clone DNA sample from the cloning facility in Kamino but also including fighting the CIS on Mustafar as the Empire eliminating what's left of the CIS and how they "never seem to get the message" to destroy the schematics of a new CIS prototype droid for the CIS and the Mustafar mining facility will might give the younger generation a good shock in their lifetimes as Star Wars fans playing that mission in the campaign... and we're finishing what Vader started he failed to tell the CIS to shut down the droids that's phenomenal bizarre if you ask me he failed his mission and your job is to clean up the mess that he forgot to clean so I guess that makes it like maids... but I see this an eye opener experience for the younger fans and they're gonna LOVE IT! These two missions in my opinion are the most intense and intriguing missions in the game but also makes you wonder so much during the campaign as you progress through... The final mission on Hoth is really great and sure you have 20 minutes before the last Rebel transport will launch which seems like a lot of time but you really have to act really fast and use strategic positioning and that mission sets my teeth to the very edge... It also surprises me you only play Vader only three times in the campaign... Hey Greedo heads up! You might wanna do "Return of The Retro" series again at some point while playing these games... JUST SAYIN'! Also as a wise clone once said... "Good Soldiers follow orders..."

Also more stable main menu navigation 😅. The main menu for me at least was never stable and I always had to hit the X button at the right time to navigate into the different options cause for some reason the PS2 couldn't handle the film scenes in the background while flicking through the options in the menu. Once I got setup into a game though it was always so much fun especially galactic conquest absolutely adored that game mode

Absolutely worth it. You spend 40 bucks by accident when you go out to eat.

I remember saving up my mowing the lawn money back in 2005 and buying battlefront 2 the day it came out, i played it nearly everday for years, was the greatest game i had ever played at the time

been a while since you popped up in my recommended! honestly i have my ps2 copy and steam copy of it, and im still repurchasing it for ps5, the online multiplayer is something im excited to experience for the first time!

I already bought it and I hadn’t even thought about the online multiplayer aspect of it. I’m gonna have to try it out

The only thing that could convince me to pay that much for the games i already own is coop Campaign and Galactic Conquest. Add those in, and my friends and I will play for months.

The original had cool campaign and this has split screen. Not sure why it wouldn't have both modes wouldn't have Coop in the revamp. They might even add it for online coop campaign. If you're gonna revamp it for modern day you should add all those modern features plus if you have a PC I'm guessing there would be a work around.

It is for me. 2004 Battlefront is one of my favorite games of all time. Never got to experience it in it's glory days. I still play through Xbox backwards compatibility to this day.

I won’t just get my nostalgia fix and move on. The best part about this is that it’s a port to all modern consoles, it’s a fantastic game that will be playable at all times. I’d love to be able to hop on after work or on my day off and just play.

I played these games all the time on my PS2 back in the day. It’ll be great to do it again on my Switch.

I'm psyched for it. I still have my original PS2 copy but I'm hyped to be able to play online and have access to the DLC heroes and maps I missed out on from the XBOX version.

First time ragdolling over the dune sea was a joy for me

If it ever gets Steam Workshop support for more people like me to use mods on something such as a Steam Deck then it will be a 110% recommendation. Not only would it bring forth stuff like restored content, new content in general based on other stories, and more optimizations made by the community, but it would also be able to give us total conversions like Battlefront III Legacy. Can you imagine how *huge* of a deal that would be? Aspyr wouldn't even have to ask anyone to make an OG Battlefront III when fans are already trying to do it for them. It's far from impossible to do since they also retroactively added mod and Steam Workshop support for KOTOR II. Granted they mainly did that because they planned to release a restored content DLC for consoles, but even with consent from both sides it never happened, likely because of Lucasfilm and Disney. Empire at War also has a Steam Workshop and the community is way bigger because of it. For context, I can't even figure out a way on how to mod Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga since quickbms refuses to work, and that's a much simpler game. Yes it's unfortunate that KOTOR 1 and Jedi Academy also don't have Workshop support, but that's likely because they'd be competing against themselves with the remake and the Jedi Fallen Order series respectively. Battlefront has no such conflicts anymore since an EA Battlefront III isn't going to be made and that they stopped support for their II 5 years ago. Whether they will one day add such a thing to the Steam version of the game or not remains to be seen. If nothing else, the Steam version being the only one to have a legacy discount and Steam Deck verification before it gets released makes me hopeful. More so than ever getting crossplay support in the future anyways, although that technically isn't impossible either as long as it's successful and still has lots of active players requesting for it in the long run. EDIT: I tried the game. They somehow butchered it so badly, even with the single player aspects. *I want to cry.*

This collection would have been well worth it (to me) on three fronts: - They improved the AI scripting/coding in tandem with engine update - They fixed up the sound effects (the AT-ST, AT-TE, AT-AT, "Jedi Starfighter" interceptor, Y-Wing, A-Wing, and LAAT all desperately need corrected sound effects for their weapons). Same goes for some of the infantry weapons in BF2. - They included a revived/'remastered' or even outright recreated edition of both PSP Battlefront titles (Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron) with modern QoL and dual-analog support. As it stands, none of those three things seem to be addressed, and, if anything, some issues with the AI are worsened (some literally stand around doing nothing in weird spots); on top of new graphical/audio issues such as the movie clip cutscenes in BF1's campaigns having horrid stutter half the time, blaster fire visually not being in sync with the sound effect (i.e. Sometimes I'll fire a shot and it'll be silent; fire another then both sound effects the shots play back to back instantly), or the BF1 loading sequence (aside from the god-awful sound effect change for it they did for whatever reason) literally borking and doing the focus/pan-in halfway off the viewable screen.

Never been into Star Wars games but I’ll be playing BF2 next week when it comes out. Can’t wait, looks fun.

I've not seen one piece of text in any commercial that confirms that it's remastered, just that it's back. The original disk for the Xbox game of Battlefront II still works with the current Xbox Series X and you can also buy a digital copy that I think has better graphics but with this, I'm not sure they'll be any other differences other than the servers and achievements?

Well, there's also the DLC maps and heroes included, but that's kinda meaningless on PC, cause there are millions of mods adding that and more for free anyway. Aside from that... not much else. Unless you count the absurd file size.

The collection will be objectively superior to the current Xbox versions. Outside of online servers, it will have 1.32vs32 player and bot battles which is simply better then the current 16vs16 on Xbox. 2.Better Textures and resolution 3.XL mode which originally was PC exclusive, this mode is essentially 100+ bots in a battle on big maps, for context I did a Hoth XL match on my PC the other day and counted 120 bots per team via leaderboard... This will now be on consoles. 4.Heroes Vs Villians on all maps now 5.For PlayStation and Switch users we get all that PLUS the original Xbox exclusive content for the first time so... Yes It's worth Buying the collection over Keeping the Xbox backwards compatible version as it's just objectively a superior product as we are getting essentially the PC version without mods on console. Now on PC the only advantage is the online servers tbh as they already currently have everything else this collection is offering and more via mods

Im glad its being released, the young ones need to know what the experience felt like. I dont plan to get it though, because my psp hacked version has a lot of new content or crossed over maps for me to instant action through. The coder did an amazing job making the clones aesthetically match the battlefield on all classes. And the new vehicles. Another hack for old republic released also, but i need a patch first. If i was doing pc, id be stuck doing all the mods

I still have my original PlayStation 2 copies of Battlefront (2004) & Battlefront II (2005) + I have a working PlayStation 2. I'm definitely interested in getting the Classic Collection, primarily for the extra levels & characters + I definitely wanna give the online play a try. I missed out on PlayStation 2 online, because we were still on dial up internet during its prime 😄. This'll give me another opportunity to try the 2 games online. For those who only play Nintendo consoles, it sucks that they've missed out on every Battlefront game (except for Elite Squadron on Nintendo DS) in both the original & reboot series, but having the first 2 games on Nintendo Switch will give them the experience for what Nintendo GameCube owners missed out on.

When I was a kid, I didn’t have online for my PS2. I also was missing all of the content (that I didn’t even know existed) from the other platforms. I still own Battlefront 2, but the hero assault and online alone (even before added DLC) makes it very much worth it. I also remember never owning the 1st game, but playing the demo very often. My only concern is that no one plays the online for BF1 and skips to BF2.

Feels more like a modified re-release than a remaster. But the several new maps and hero assault, along with official servers again seems worth it.

I will absolutely be buying this, played the hell out of 2 on the PS2 with my brother back in the day, never tried online before and never played the first game either, so this is an instant buy. If you are able to play galactic conquest online with friends then this will be automatically the best game ever

If you're on PC, the only reason to buy this collection is to support the Battlefront name. All these "new" features are all available for free with a few clicks on PC, and even more. The textures are very slightly enhanced, but nowhere *near* commonly used mods that up the detail a whole generation.

I am buying this on the switch and ps5. The classic battlefronts are finally on those platforms and the switch in particular i think is perfect for these games. And its also my favorite platform to play games on too. The classic bf2 also was a massive part of my childhood and have a lot of memories of it. Plus i funally get to experience the xbox dlc and multiplayer. So it is more then worth it getting these games again

I keep going back n forth which version i should get, ps4 or switch. I do have both Games on the ps2. Probably the switch version for its portability.

I have Battlefront Classic Collection pre ordered and downloaded on my Nintendo Switch it takes up 25GB which is double what it takes for the original versions of 1 and 2 on PC so they likely changed things that take up more space maybe graphics? The textures do appear higher resolution in the video and screenshots.

I can't wait to see how chaotic Polis Massa can get with twice as many players!

i think its a safe bet given the over 50gb file size, that's far larger than the 3 and 4 gb file sizes of the original game.

A lot of people seem to miss that 64 player online was native to battlefront 2 og. Battlefront 1 only supported 32, so 1 supporting 64 is actually a pretty big deal. 50 gig install size is pretty questionable to me, but, despite these two games being on steam literally for years, I'm def going to support this release, if only so ASPYR or whoever else is doing these types of remasters, can port other collections, like Rogue Squadron (a pipe dream for sure), or even games like the Episode 3 movie tie in or Star Wars The Clone Wars. Safe to say in a sea of terrible modern star wars games, the big classics are still there for sure.

My friend and I both own it on PC but we're gonna get it on Switch because we're going at it with split screen, a 12 pack of soda, chips, and just good vibes.

Less than a week to go!! Can't wait!

I’ve already pre-ordered this for the Switch. I still have my original Xbox copies and my 360, but being able to play these games anywhere was a no brainer. I also feel like even if the online player base dies down for this collection, the original Battlefront games have more going for them in terms of offline play compared to the newer games.

I’m willing to pay for $31.49 on these AMAZING games! I have PS Plus, and when I pre-order it five days from now, it’s DEFINITELY WORTH IT! Also, to see BOTH of these games run on the glorious 60FPS AND 4K with the PS5’s capability! Plus, I’ve NEVER played the first original Star Wars Battlefront, but I have played a LOT of the second one.

One thing I hope it has is online stability. If you've played BF2 2005 online before you know how jittery all the other player movements are. If it was perfect, it would have crossplay, Steam Workshop support, online galactic conquest, and online campaign.

The answer is and easy yes. This is a dream come true situation. I will gladly support in hopes that this happens with more game's like this that I love.

I'll say this, I have the original five feet from me. I can pick up Battlefront whenever I want and to be honest me and the youngest were playing it maybe 6 months ago. I literally could play the first Battlefront by myself and I'd be happy with just bot play. So you bet your sweet ass I'm getting this on launch. It's been 20 years since those days. Most people don't remember that Battlefront front was probably the first game to really get it perfect with online play. The early days of playing online on a ps2. It was this and Mortal Kombat Deception for me.

I'm looking forward to Platforms with you fine folks. The dogfights going on above us groud troops are gonna be wild with actual people piloting.

Yes. It was a little over $40 here in New Zealand. I've pre ordered and pre installed already on Xbox series x and ready for them to flip the switch on day one.

Can't wait for this!! I used to play the original games back in early 2000's on xbox, and was pretty good at the game. Probably won't be as good now as I'm old as f**k!! 😂 But really looking forward to playing this on ps5 👍

One thing not mentioned in this video (though I don’t blame you, as a PC player) is that for Playstation 4 and 5 users the games are unavailable in any other capacity. No backwards compatibility for PS2 discs and they aren’t in the online store. So for us, it’s this or nothing.

I wonder if they will make it so you can talk to teammates with a mic since back on the ps2, I believe you could!🎉

So I already have the original Star Wars Battlefront(2004) & Star Wars Battlefront 2(2006) on Steam so I don't need to buy the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection since they're basically the same game after all?

I mean, unless you have a pc or xbox, you don’t have access to these games. They weren’t available on modern PlayStation consoles before this release.

Hopefully the controls are better and smoother. I have them for free from Xbox live gold, I’m not sure I want it yet

My big question that nobody is willing to answer is can i play any of these two games split screen and online at the same time

With extra characters like Kit Fisto and Ventress which I’ve never got to experience and new maps I’ve never played plus the 64 player multiplayer yeah to me it’s well worth it.

This is made for those who haven't played. Even me.

I will say the only reason I am re buying it is for me to have it on a platform I have never owned it on and online.

If these games still have instant action, it'll be worth every penny. I've spent so many hours playing on my ps2 against bots when I was younger. I'll get my nostalgia regardless of if the servers are up or not.

Grew up playing both, been playing Galactic Conquest ever since. I hope the increased player size applies to bots as well.

I already have them on Xbox. I’ll probably buy the Switch version on Star Wars Day. Having them on a handheld might be enough to satisfy my nostalgia for the PSP games.

As a ps5 owner I don’t have access to them unless I unpack my ps2 (which is on its last legs)

Everybody thinks they want to play multiplayer until they realize they only ever played against the stupid bots and get stomped by real people

As long as they allow multiple dark mauls to be in the field like the old version ill be happy in heros v villians

Galactic Conquest is still one of the best game modes in any game ever. If they have it online, that would be insane.
