The images from the Sigma stand alone and for still photography, I don’t think it has an equal. I have the 85 GM and plan to get the 105 eventually. Thanks for the effort you put into this video, Jason!

I got the 105 as soon as it came out and did the mount switch. Yeah, eye af sometimes miss but so far its been my main portrait/headshot lens. If you are shooting events where its easy to miss a moment dont get this, for studio work though where you can take your time this is one of the best lenses you can get.

I appreciate the perspective you gave with this compared to the 85mm 1.8 which is already on my list to get. Now that I know I can get similar results with a few step forward I’ll remove the 105mm and focus on the 24mm 1.4! Merry Christmas Sir!

After the Sony A7iii 2.0 update I’ve had focusing issues with my Sigma 35mm 1.4 ART. Thanks for the video, I have the Sony 85mm 1.8 and I absolutely love it. The Sigma 105 looks amazing but the weight is a dealbreaker. Great video, thanks again.

I was really thinking about possibly getting this lens, but you make a good case for the 85mm focal length ... I think I’d go with 85 GM.

Great video! I've been trying to decide what lenses I should get for my A7Riii for a little while now. It's hard figuring out if I should spend the extra money on a GM or go sigma since I really want that 1.4... Your reviews are definitely helping me make more educated decisions! Thank you! My favorite lens for portraits, I have used it for the past two years on my A9 with amazing results.

I don't know if I'd get this lens for myself, but definitely would rent it for some project.

Nice review Jason, Sigma Art for Sony....i'm looking closely at them, they're on my radar for sure, but not sure I need the 105 at this point. 35 1.4 and 85 1.4 possibly, not that this is a bad lens, it looks great.

I have the 85mm 1.4 from sony gmaster it's worth it to have the 1.4 because if you stop down the lens the extra Diaphragm Blades it has will be worth it :)

Very helpful . I was thinking about getting the 105 for wedding events. However you mentioned the autofocus is slightly off in 1.4 . I also like the comparison and I think I will go with the 85 for now and maybe 105 for Christmas

Great review Jason! I really like the way you present your honest opinions. These Sigma Art lenses are always beautifully sharp but at the same time their unnecessarily large. I’m holding out hope for Sony to release a 135mm f/1.8 GM soon, I’d gladly sell my 70-200 f/2.8 GM to get that glass.

I'm getting this lens as my first ever Art lens.

Great test. I love my Sony 85mm f/1.8. So sharp and such a bargain. I wish I could find a use for one of the Sigma Art lenses. They are super sharp and are priced well but they are just so darn big.

What is up hybrid shooters! A “friend” I know is getting his first Sigma piece of glass for Christmas. 16 mm F1.4 so that I have a wider option for video and photos. That “friend” could really use a t-shirt to go with it.

Great video Jason! I also have the 85mm f1.8. Love it. The only Sigma I have so far is the 16mm f1.4. Works great on my A6500 for gimbal work.

After playing with them at my local camera store, I think I like the 135mm better. By the way, I am from Edmonton, Canada. I can put the Sony Alpha beanie to good use! Lol

Jeez that thing is massive! I use the Sony 18 to 105. I wish it had a better aperture but it's pretty versatile. Lately I've been using the Sigma 16 though.

I wonder why it has a focus problem at 1.4 and 1.8 and not above these.

The Sigma art lenses are amazing, but they are built with image quality in mind at the sacrifice of form factor. I’d be interested in seeing if they bring their zooms to the E Mount

MC-11 is usually on sale this time of year. Now that Sigma has the L mount it's possible that some lenses will be kept for that mount only (so perhaps the zooms may not be available in E mount without MC-11.)

This is exactly the same lens as used for the Nikon mount, am I correct in thinking sigma just fitted an adapter ring to adjust for the flange distance? And can you take this adapter off and use it on a Nikon as it appears you can from pictures

Killer review! Definitely a beast of a bokeh machine, but I feel like the Sigmas always seem to have a few kinks they need to work out in terms of the AF like you mentioned. Not an end-all, but definitely inconvenient at times.

I love this lens. Just the live view in the back screen is amazing. It’s heavy but I’m goi g to get I. The habit of getting a ton of portraits with it and separate myself from the pack

When I do move up to full frame, I will be getting Sigma primes. Hopefully they have their autofocus figured out for the 105

There is so much glass out front, I would be afraid of dinking it for sure. Thanks for comparing the 135mm with the 85mm, now I know I can be happy with my 70-200GM and 85 batis really no need - saving me money!

I can’t wait till I get the Sony 85mm. Would love that 105, but that is a big lens!
