But that doesn't negate the fact that AMD cards are generally a good value and can do almost anything an Nvidia card can do… including streaming games. Maybe your settings are messed up, maybe the rest of your computer is a potato, maybe you have bad internet, or maybe you just lost the silicon lottery and got a bad card, but it doesn't mean all the 5500xt's are bad. @@TassadarGR Nvidia's raytrace tech is barely used in a handful of games, and isn't catching on due to the non-standard nature of it. Nvidia decided to pull a Nintendo and produce cards that are, "unique," irrespective of whether they are actually better, and in the process shoehorned two different pipelines into one package that aren't entirely a match for one another. Raster method can render mid-stream whereas raytrace needs to receive the full scene first, objects that should exist as planes or primitives for raytracing are instead tesselated into tiny, fragmented pieces for rasterization, etc. AMD is producing mainstream cards without gimmicks, with a focus on core specs and efficiency only. Why would I even care about a feature that's perhaps supported by one of my games, when I could evaluate the cards based on the framerate and reliability I expect to have across the board? This is to say nothing of the apparent quality compromises associated with enabling Nvidia's raytrace tech, or the vast advantage in Linux drivers on the AMD side, etc. Price-to-performance and low failure rates are reason enough to consider AMD already, gimmicks notwithstanding.

Currently (12/13) the Sapphire Pulse cards that you tested are listed at $180 and $210 on Newegg, $10 above MSRP. Both are in stock. The only MSRP cards are the ASRock Challenger D (8GB is in stock, 4GB is backordered) and a backordered 8GB MSI card. Many of the cards are $20 or more above MSRP, with the most expensive being a Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB card with RGB lighting for $240. Your review and others have shown the minimal gain from the 8GB versions. (The only advantage I've seen show up anywhere for gaming was a more consistent frame rate in Tomb Raider for the 8GB card, and it was specific to that one title.) It looks as though most games won't need the additional texture memory at 1080p. The 8GB version might be worth buying if you also edit video, but if you're just buying for gaming you might as well save your money at this price level.

Jay you gotta remember that many Internet cafes use prebuilts with 1060s so anyone signing onto steam with them counts it as a pc per person, steam charts are pretty skewed but its true that the price range is preferred. Anywho if AMD could make their driver installation more reliable (less likely to need a re-install after 'quirks' appear) and they fix the fan curve sometimes not responding to heat change, then AMD would truly be an equal contender with nvidia for ease of use, hardware wise ohh man they've done a good job for the budget/mid tier market!

Amd needs to make the process less prone to failure; and the fan curves more responsive.. The software is dragging down the great hardware AMD has made and its annoyong to deal with imo.

I was wondering if you'd consider adding VR Benchmarks as a part of your GPU benchmark reviews going forward? That's a big factor when I'm looking for my next GPU!

Hello Jayz & chat, love your channel JayzTwoCents, keep it up. anyway I am a system builder myself from Australia and I would like to know the make and model of two items I have seen on your channel a couple of times. one is the white open test bench that you have there and the other is the little white blower you use to clean dirty systems out . Can some one tell me where to buy these or share a link to them ? Thank you.

what the hell happened to entry level pc gaming??? 2017 I build a mid range pc with all brand new hardware that just released for 600, 2019-today you couldn't build a entry level one for lass than 800. rx 580 8gb was $140 when I built my rig, now you can barley get a card for less than $200.

I love your videos, I got really into pc hardware lately. Although one criticism if you don't mind: use the game's own screen cap and sound instead of music. It is really breaking the flow of the video.

I just got this card for $190. Comes with a copy of Godfall ($60) that I wanted to play anyway when it releases and a $25 gift card for doing a review so I feel like this was a worthwhile affordable upgrade at $105 from my EVGA GTX 760 SC.

I'm just getting into the pc world and researching parts to buy to build one and in the graphics card department it seems like NVIDIA cards are just by far the best in almost every price point especially at the higher end ones
