Is The Philippines Safe For a Solo Female Traveler? (honest talk)

Today I’ll talk about safety in the Philippines for solo female (and male) travellers. This is based on my experience traveling the Philippines as a solo female traveler. We will talk about the three areas of the Philippines, Luzon (where Manila is), Visayas (where Coron, El Nido, Palawan, Cebu and Bohol are), and Mindanao (where the Sulu Archipelago is). Is the Philippines Safe? I talk about my experience and the things I wish I knew before travelling to the Philippines while taking you on a little walk around Coron Town.

Most negative comments about safety in the Philippines are coming from those who have never been to the Philippines 🇵🇭. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and we get used to hearing a lot of those negative and mostly false statements about it.

Coron is 100% crime free. Every person from there will tell you about that. At first I didn’t believe because you’ll definitely see poverty. My wife realize she left her phone with money pocket on the tricycle. So I called her phone and the driver answered and said he’s on the way back to the restaurant where he dropped us off. My wife was so grateful she gave him very good tip.

We also had a solo Canadian female traveler before. Her name is Robyn Kimberly. She's also a vlogger and she traveled around on a scooter, show casing some remote beaches with tall coconut tress. Sometimes sleeping alone in a native "nipa hut" made tiny room.

Western and Southern Mindanao are actually safe. Even the Sulu area is safe now. Though a lot of people, whether tourists or locals, are afraid to go there (Sulu area). There are even foreign vloggers (BecomingFilipino and Kumander Daot) who live in Mindanao. They go all over Mindanao many times already. They are still alive and kicking. Nothing bad happened to them.

Another dutch solo traveler who is now in Baguio a city on top of hills up north. Shes ok traveling alone here in Philippines. Other asian countries saying my country is not safe. Lots of western vloggers are base here in Manila particularly in Makati an BGC. For help ask filipinos they will try thier best to help or assist you ma'am. Welcome!!

yes, there may be a sense of danger among women but it happens more often with locals. it often happens to their relatives or acquaintances or neighbors only, not to foreigners, if it happens to a foreigner, it is only an isolated case, to foreigners who do not take care of themselves and are too kind to everyone, so even if you are a foreigner and it rarely happens, you should still be careful so that it doesn't happen to you, don't be too complacent about the good things the locals show you.

Ola Lily! Thank you for sharing your experiences of traveling solo in the Philippines. As a Filipino friend, I appreciate your honesty and insights into the safety of different areas in my country. It's understandable that you felt anxious in Manila, especially when navigating a new city for the first time and traveling solo. I'm sorry to hear about your difficult experience in getting to your hotel in Manila. If it's okay with you, could you please share the name of the hotel where you had a challenging experience? It could be helpful for future solo travelers to have this information as they plan their own trips. Despite your initial challenges in Manila, it's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Coron, Palawan and felt safe while exploring the beautiful scenery and local culture. Out of curiosity, would you still be interested in coming back to the Philippines and exploring other parts of the country? Love and light!😊

Statically the Philippines is not as safe as the USA. I have stayed there for just over a year. Traffic is bad, and you can get hurt if you do not pay attention as there are not many cross walks anywhere. Stray dogs are an issue they roam everywhere and can be an issue late a night. I felt there was a moment where I might have ended my stay on earth early but someone drove past and helped me. Taxi will try to over charge you in Manila they do this to locals as well. It can be safe to visit but always be cautious where ever you visit.

The forums are absolute fake news. New people realise how safe and friendly it is once they arrive. They should ask thesmelves, how can the Philippines have the friendliest and most warm / generous people and be unsafe at the same time? :) Majority of the country is safe, it's only parts of Manila would have pickpockets and the muslim areas in the far south to be cautious about! Everywhere is else is probably the safest place on earth!

Totally disagree. You can do that anywhere in Asia from Singapore, to Bangkok to Tokyo. In fact you can see solo Western women walking around at 3 am in large Asian cities very commonly. People aren't going to rob, rape, assault or murder you in SE or E Asia. That just doesn't happen there like it happens in the West or anywhere else in the world outside of SE or E Asia. South Asia, yes you can't really walk around as a solo female, but SE or E Asia you are safe.

Only terrorists will harm foreigners here but they are far less now. It is advised to do ur research before booking an accomodation, try to reserach the surrounding areas whether its crappy or well built. Some areas of manila are really not suitable for solo tourists. When in manila, its better to stay on the more modern side like makati, bgc, eastwood city. Its better to stay on a condominium unit rather than s homestay type of place in manila. I wish you good travel experience n the Philippines.

When traveling solo especially a woman -- make sure to communicate or interact with locals, locals are the one will help you in times of trouble. Filipino will defend you --- this I can guarantee! LOCALS ARE AGAINST CRIMINALITY. If you are a criminal and you've done something wrong to anyone especially to a foreigners? -- TOUGH LUCK, YOU ARE DEAD MEAT.

nope philippines is the most western, fareastern asian country in the world, except in clothing... were very conservative... it is a catcall!!! ... when you travel try get a form of vehicle, bike, skateboard, motorcycle... avoid a group of people with unsavoury characters hanging out on the street especially at night, be for warned cop here wont respond to petty crimes like stalking... unlike in the west, because it is just a barangay issue...

This type of solo traveler is great and find out the real situation in the Philippines from a tourist, and one that we must pay attention how to make it even more safer to travel to the Philippines. The only to encourage people to visit if there are no scammers or criminals that would victimize the visitors of the country.
