Is the new "TRD" Toyota Camry Worth Buying?! | 2020 Toyota Camry TRD Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2020 Toyota Camry TRD is the very first from the factory super sporty Camry. TRD went to work on all the suspension and chassis components as well as a re-tuned steering rack and brake pedal feel. This midsize sedan touts an impressive spec sheet but how does it all translate in the real world? That is what I want to find out! Join me as I take you on an in-depth look at the all new TRD Camry! Remember to subscribe, like, and comment! Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much for watching my first review of 2020 everyone! I love this car and if you can put up with the harsh ride quality on a daily basis, it will be satisfying to drive! If not, you may want to pass. I just launched a new merchandise line below! I only need to sell 11 shirts, hoodies, or long sleeves! Link is below! PERFECT FIT for me! Just bought one 2 weeks ago... I freaking LOVE it!! I'm basically a tom-boyish mom with kiddos and I went from driving a 1992 Mazda Miata to driving SUVs for almost 15 years, so I am ECSTATIC that Toyota made an affordable, practical, family car with some horsepower that I can drive and enjoy like a sports car even with my kiddos in tow! My son laughs everytime I get on it, and I am having a BLAST! All its looks including the wing are just right up my alley! GREAT job Toyota, thanks for creating the perfect car for me!

Next year Camry Hybrid will come with eAWD; motor powering front, electric motor powering rear wheels. V6 will probably be replaced with Hybrid Prime eventually, Rav4 Prime has 302HP so Camry will probably be the same.

I think Toyota made the right decision to make this more "hardcore" and to compromise on comfort, people who want something comfortable can get the non TRD V6 Camry instead, this way they offer a model for every taste and have something unique in this segment.

@JohnTitor Few reasons why I think this is the case. 1. Americans just don't drive manuals compared to the rest of the world. 2. People want crossovers and suvs. Not a small yaris. 3. Nobody is gonna pay over 25-30k for a yaris. 4. Emissions and other regulations gets in the way. They have to tune and modify and car and pay a bunch of fees associated with the tests. Not worth it for a niche car. It wouldn't be an issue if we can import a new car without paying a butt load of money or wait 25 some odd years to import it.

Some of the TRDs come with summer performance tires so this may have led to the extra noise and feel of bumps, as well as you are riding on 19' wheels. Someone could always just change out the tires and wheels to 18' high performance all season which would add more comfort, keep most of the performance, and increase quietness in the cabin.

Just found your channel on suggested, awesome review, you earned my sub around minute 2 haha. Always have a spot for a quality reviewer in my watch list. This car is so good looking, girlfriend and I are looking for a bigger sedan to replace our Jetta when baby #2 shows up and I’d rather grab a sedan than an suv. Stinks to hear the ride is a little rough but that is absolutely the trade off, it will be interesting to see what the price is on the used market in about a year or two. Camrys hold pretty well but if it was around 25 that’s a deal. Keep these quality reviews coming and keep working hard man, good work!

  • @malcolmar
    @malcolmar4 жыл бұрын

Well done man. I LOVE this car! Really AMAZING what Toyota was able to do at this price point. Although a turbo would have been nice having that smooth-running V6 means this engine is going to last for a long time. Toyota has that reputation for its legendary reliability for a reason. That is why I bought a Toyota last year but sadly I could not fit that Toyota and this beautiful TRD Camry in my "two" car garage :( Keep up the great work! On the positive note, it looks like these TRD Camry's are really selling. That might encourage the higher-ups and investors to put more resources into future TRD Camrys such as maybe including a 6 speed manual and a LSD as an option? Simple truth, if people want manuals, buy them!

The only problem I am now having is some oil leak from the front rocker cover gasket. With this track record, I am looking for a second car and am considering the2020 XSE or the TRD V6, so this video has given me something to think about. I also liked your video on the 2019 Accord 2.0T. However, the issues that some people have had with the autonomous braking system worries me as this can be a serious safety concern.

So it's definitely a pass I was actually going to purchase a TRD, but I'm glad I watched your video because I got a chance to see where the TRD lacks compared to the XSE. Not gonna to lie, when I found out that Toyota let TRD have their way with the Camry I was actually freakin stoked, Infact I actually drove the LE which is under The XLE it hooks pretty good on corners as well. So I definitely won't have a problem letting go of that stiffer suspension, mostly because I want that smooth ride when I'm cruising on the highway. I'd definitely stick with the XSE mostly because of the options that I want, like the sunroof and especially the JBL sound system that is a must, so much so that when I heard you say in the video that thE TRD does not offer the JBL sound system I was completely over the TRD. and you're right the TRD based off what I seen in the video hooks hard.

A political Analist there is such a thing as people really just poking fun at something. If some of yall sensitive people take it as a sign of envy, thats a different story created in your little minds. There is absolutely nothing to envy about a camry regardless of engine option under its hood. The ***average***american spends about 33K -35k in their cars. The ***average*** american has a monthly income of $3500, if youre smart with your money, your monthly car payment should be $350 @ 10% of $3500/mo. The average american pays $500 /mo for their brand new cars. Therefore, the average american is not envious of a 32k toyota camry with TRD badges. Guy just got jokes. Deal with it.

A political Analist I said deal with it because its crazy to bring up a 32k price tag as a big deal. Sure, there are some people that buy cars in their 20kish, maybe to stay within that 10% of their monthly income and possible bad credit. So im just saying there is nothing “baller” about buying a 32k camry. Thats all.

Hey Forrest! Great video, I was wondering what you think about the sound system. I heard you didn’t like that the car didn’t have the jbl speakers but overall how would you rank them 1-10 because I’m really interested in the car and music and sound is definitely make or break for me. Much love! ❤️

Hey there! So the sound system is a 5 out of 10. Reason for the low score is because the road noise is pretty loud mixed in with the fact that the system is already pretty basic. I love music so this was a big strike for me... :( There is always aftermarket speakers though?

Definitely a buy, I am a Toyota fan. For years people have been saying Toyota is boring. Toyota CEO of Japan heard all the complaints. Therefore, he mandated that Toyota being some emotion to it's cars. Of course, Toyota has standards and they hold back in some areas.

Dope looking Camry! But I honestly like the xse trim more. It's more appealing and "balanced". The white xse with the red interior has to be one of the sexiest cars on the road today.

The only thing lacking is power; beef it up to about 400 horsepower, add more torque to it and either/or make it AWD then it’ll be a great car to drive around. As of now, it’s a bit slow to get up to speed around the town. I have a 2018 SE.

I went to carmax the other day to do a trade in. Was interested in looking at some nice bmws, Mercedes, audis etc, they had on the lot, and then out of nowhere they had a 2021 Camry TRD with 9k miles in perfect condition just sitting there, and I knew very little about these cars and haven’t really seen but maybe one on the road before. But after sitting inside of it and firing it up it was a wrap! 🤣… I absolutely LOVE my TRD!

For myself, like you mentioned, the lack of the JBL sound system is a deal breaker, and the inability of folding down the rear seat is another bummer. I would rather have a Corolla SE or XSE with the JBL stereo, which is what I plan to get anyway. Otherwise, it is what it is. I would prefer the Avalon TRD for the niceties this lacks, if you like the huge size and can afford, and don't mind paying a lot more.
