Thanks for the review! I really want to learn the trumpet but I usually travel a lot. (I play piano, sax and guitar). Is it a good idea to start learning on the pocket trumpet? I'd like to know! I might buy this one, thanks!!!

I know this is a year late. But I play sax, guitar, harmonica, violin... And now I'm going to learn the trumpet, because I want to. I've always thought it was a cool instrument so I bought me not this pocket trumpet but a pocket trumpet and I'm going to learn for the hell of it. If you want to learn new instrument, learn a new instrument

Nope...clean it, give it a bath once a month, put high quality valve oil and she won't lock up on ya!

How does the mendini pocket compare to the full size mendini starter trumpet in playability and tone, in your opinion

I haven't exactly spent tons of time practicing both, but from my initial impressions of both, the pocket trumpet has more resistance, but perhaps a warmer sound. The mendini trumpet has more projection and definitely louder. Both great as student level type horns

Why is the pocket trumpet is expensive than the normal trumpet

Lot more work to add all those extra bends in the tubing. Also, not as in demand. Instead of 10 Bb trumpet players being quickly sold in one month at $100 with a profit of $20 on each instrument, only 1 or 2 pocket trumpets might be sold during the same time frame resulting in a lower overall profit. So, they jack up the price a bit to make up the difference!
