Музыка
We wanted to do a video comparison of some of our most popular pocket trumpets we sell at ACB! This is an archive of the live video I did on Facebook but I felt like it was an important video to share here as well. Make sure to comment on which pocket trumpet you liked the best!
I do switch around some between the trumpets, but if you're looking for a particular horn these time stamps will get you started:

-Fully optimized at ACB including valve alignment
12:55 Manchester Brass Large Bell Pocket Trumpet

-Adjustable trigger on first valve, but not third valve
-Made in Taiwan, great quality instrument
21:06 Schagerl 200L

23:30 Brasspire P7 Pocket Trumpet with Upturned Bell!

Just got mine last week. After not playing for 25 years, I tried 2 cheap pockets from Amazon. Keys sticking/creeping was a major problem. I picked up the small bell which was about $40 more than the Amazon junk. So far it's holding up great. Getting it in tune is difficult... But that could be me as well. Love you videos and proud owner. Glad I found your channel. I practice 1-2 hours a day and hope the novelty doesn't wear off anytime soon. Now to listen to that Adams Copernicus for the 10th time.
I love your videos. I love looking and hearings all your horns. Thankyou
Hi just received my ammoon small bell pocket trumpet im loving mine, was a great addition to my collection flugelhorn and standard Bb trumpet and this new pocket trumpet is a great addition.
your ombouchure is great. The tone coming from the trumpet is very clear with no noticeable buzz, whistle, or excessive whooshing sounds. Definitely a plus compared to a lot of intro to pocket trumpet videos I've seen.

I like the large bell!
You are an amazing trumpet player! My song request is A night in Tunisia I'm a Dizzy Gilespie fan thanks!
Benge made 3 or 4 CG pocket trumpets in silver. Given the super-thin metal, they ruined many bells trying to make these work, then gave up. A friend landed one at some point. Amazing. See if you can get hold if a cadeceus pocket trumpet. Smallest possible.
mute sounds wicked! btw.. pocket trombone.. uh genius!
Holy smokes you play wonderfully

From my experience, the cheapest horn I own that I enjoy playing is a 1956 Martin Indiana cornet that I paid $15 plus shipping for. The main reason I play it is because it plays nice and quiet with loose slots and a free feel up high. It wasn't made as a "pro" horn and has plenty of quirks but it works very well for what it does well.
A couple I cannot find info about is the Jupiter JTR710 and Shagerl SLPT700. Is the Shargerl 700 higher or lower spec than the 200?
No no no i have the first one you played, for practice good, but not with any mouthpiece . i like the idea of an advanced pocket trompeta .
Hello! You recently reviewed a Carol Brass Blackhawk pocket trumpet. How would that fit in this really good comparison(s)? Do you still sell aCarol Brass pocket or mini pocket trumpet? Thank you!

What is your opinion on the jet-tone trumpet mouthpiece? I was thinking about getting one, but I can't find good reviews anywhere else on KZread. Thanks!

I don't talk about other manufacturer's mouthpieces.

The originals are great if you want the commercial sound. The reissues by which are actually made by schilke, I’ve never tried but have really mixed reviews. Most stuff says they aren’t exact copies of the originals though and a lot of people say they don’t play in tune and are not as good. Legends brass makes some good copies though and some other companies do too. I’ve got a legends which is great but it isn’t supposed to be a jet tone so I don’t know how they’re jet tone copies are but they should be great too.
Perhaps I'm crazy, but I think I might actually prefer the standing tone of the Schagerl over the Brasspire for some reason. The Brasspire looks cool and is far more precise particularly in the area of note finding. But honestly, listening in the video back to back, the Shagerl sounds very warm and classic in tone on the lingering note. Clearly, it begins to fall apart when pushed up to speed. The Brasspire keeps up but to me sounds a bit thinner in comparison despite the fact that it's the better horn.

From what I gather you are saying that you think the Schagerl is really the better horn?

Do the piccolo trumpet harmon mutes fit in the small bell pocket trumpets?
@austincustom
4 жыл бұрын
Good question. Not sure as we don't have a piccolo harmon mute in stock.. but the piccolo practice mutes fit nicely in the small bell so I can assume the Harmons would as well.
How is the intonation?
Does the Manchester Brass line also come with a full optimization and PVA?

Not necessarily Especially to the player as the bell is closer to the players ear. Get a practice mute 🤪
ACB Large Bell Pocket makes a ton of sense for a kids first student horn. You don't ditch it when you get a step up or pro horn, its closer to the face, so easier to hear, closer to the face so less arm/shoulder strain, fits a mute, looks cool to non trumpet players, has strong busking appeal, it's affordable, It has nice new laquer so no kid bitching about the other kids having shiny horns, fits in a backpack... That Schagerl sounds great, but for whatever it costs I'm sure I'd be in the preowned section of your store. Schagerl sounded better to me than the Brasspire tbh.

Funny you mention that. We just had a large (100+) order for our ACB pocket for a school district. A pilot program with a Suzuki Brass class. It should be very exciting!

I think the Manchester, Schagerl, Carol Brass mini (not in this video IIRC) and Brasspire pockets we stock here at ACB are all good, solid instruments with fine intonation (for a pocket). I use a Carol Brass mini when I travel these days and they are fabulous. Here's the link for the one I use: www.austincustombrass.biz/the-adorable-carolbrass-mini-pocket-trumpet-in-lacquer/ (I highly recommend using the Ante Mute with this horn as well)
