Is The Lada Riva The Perfect First Classic Car?
Lada Riva. In todays special we get to have a close look at a 1993 Lada Riva (or VAZ 2105) - as I try to find out if this plucky little Soviet car deserves the baggage it carries as one of the worlds worst cars, and to ask an important question - in 2021, could the Lada Riva now be the perfect first classic car? Can a Lada ever be cool?
Watch now to see a brief background of the Lada Riva and its place in automotive history. As with my regular format, we'll also have a chat with the cars owner and get out on the road to see what this Lada Riva is all about. It may just seem like a box on wheels, but I find these cars kind of charming. I'm from the U.S. so I've never seen or heard of these cars before, but after an introduction through a video game, I felt compelled to learn more about them. Good video.

We have a large Italian community,here in Somerset,and the Ladas were sold by an Italian family.Later,they changed to FIAT,again selling largely to the Italian heritage families.

The Lada Riva is a Fiat 124 i think. Russia leased the rights to build it

Great Video with a lot of good info, I'm gathering the money to buy one here in Brazil, here is known as Lada Laika and is not that hard to find one specially in the south but not so many people are willing to sell it

Thanks for watching and for the feedback 😃. I’d recommend buying one when you are able and have found one, not sure what the classic car market in Brazil is like but here in Europe these Ladas keep going up in value - but more importantly it was genuinely a very fun little car to drive and i hear there are plenty of parts available to modify/upgrade, so im sure you wouldnt regret it. I can understand why people don’t want to sell them! Glad you found the video useful and thanks for subscribing 👍. I’ll bring you more interesting car stories soon but in the meantime please enjoy my other videos.

I hear they can command big money over there now and very popular to race and drift. Go figure 🤣. Life starting to get back to normal slowly, i held my first car meet of 2021 today! Maybe you could start up a Russian branch of Sunnyside Breakfast Meet 😉. Next BMW update coming soon

I once drove a 1990 H reg Lada riva 1300 on the M1 and the Speedo went off the clock showing 105 mph , so maybe was doing 95 mph with 10% out witch is good for a 1300 cc brick ,
Drove a new one that a m8 had, it was a right laugh to drive just drove it like a rally car 🤣🤣🤣

I found it to be very charming
A museum peice and that's where they belong.

The Lada "riva" is so weak u will get thrown out in a front collision or any collision and survive. Not kidding,seen this so MANY times on "car crash compilation" here on yt. haha.
