One of the best and iconic...
Some people need flashy watches so that people will notice them. I love almost everything about the 38 Khaki.

I don't understand why people buy new field watches. You can get original field used field watches from WW2, Korea, and Vietnam for cheaper than the New stuff.

@ChannelNotFound If you're an enthusiast who either (a) understands the ins, outs, and potential issues with a watch clocking in on 50 years of age and over, or (b) is tight with a pro watchmaker who does, then vintage fields are a good way to go. Otherwise, I say go with new for something that looks the part *and* does the daily without headaches.
As field watches go, the khaki mechanical is actually more visually appealing than most other field watches. I think And the Kaki king automatic is actually about as bling as a field watch comes. I have both… The king is on a bracelet which also dresses it up. Looking for something dressier still considered a field watch My goto is my Seiko alpinist On an aftermarket jubilee bracelet from strap code.
Sometimes simple is good it’s why I like my Mondaine
Phenomenal watch. I have the Khaki Aviation and love the subtle beauty.
I bought the Hamilton khaki king as a graduation gift for myself. It's got a lot more going on than this version because of the day date at 12:00 but I love it and have basically worn it every day for the last few years. It's definitely not perfect but I love it so much.
I actually picked one of these up pretty recently. I thought it may be too boring too, but it actually impressed me quite a bit when I saw it in person. The contrast between the black dial and white indices is really nice, and the thinness and power reserve are both amazing. I think most people intend to replace the strap pretty much immediately after buying one. I put mine on a vintage bond nato, and I couldn't be happier with it.

If I may, which Bond colour scheme did you go with?
It’s a utility / tool watch. What do you expect.
I have had mine for about a month- initially it wasn’t a WOW… now it is my favorite watch.
I love my khaki field king. First thing I did with it was put it on a green nato.
I axtually agree that it is “underwhelming”, but that is the beauty of it. It is so unmistakenly classic american design, and that’s why I love it 😊. Plus it wears so well on many wrists
I loved my Khaki but I gave it to my dad because I got the 42mm instead of the 38mm. A 42mm diver looks great on my wrist but field watches with their small bezels, big dials, and long lugs make them wear really big. My dads wrist is a little bigger than mine and I think it looks better on him and he loves it. If I get another Hamilton I’ll probably get the hand-wind model in 38mm.
I only have about 7 watches, but the Hamilton Khaki Automatic is one of my favourite watches. I was not a fan of the leather strap either, but then I put the watch on a Nato and it works. I love that watch. I love that it is versatile, it is the essence of what I need in a watch. It shows the time and date, has 100 meters wr, a great power reserve and it is easy to read. Also the Nato enhances the field watch feeling.
Some people just don't appreciate that sometimes less is more. Simplicity at its best. A great watch.
Not much of a Hammy fan now (was knee-deep into them over a decade ago), but I still think the Khaki Field Automatic is one of the most appealing watches in the lineup, and it hasn't changed much for a good reason - they got it right the very first time.
I have the Khaki King and I love the simplicity. Not flashy but functional. That’s all I need.
Best watch I have ever had the 38mm auto. I initially was slightly underwelmed, but that changed fast and soon grew on me. this is definitely not a watch with flex etc. My main niggle is there is only 2 micro adjusts on the braclet despite the clasp having plenty of room. I could honestly only own this watch if really needed.
It’s a great everyday watch. Classic, simple and well made.
Bought mine in 2016. Runs great, apx 2.16 seconds per day fast. Terrific watch. Back then it was about $425.00 on leather (great strap…horween ?) while my Sarb 017 Alpinist set me back $379.00 with a faux gator strap. Fine vid! Thanks!
I have a 38mm Dark Green dial Khaki Field H70455863. The model has been discontinued. This watch is my daily, and I love it so much. It sits on a black and gray nato in the summer and a darker brown leather strap in the winter. The stock green leather strap was too stiff, too thick and ugly colored. My only complaint about the watch is the lume. It is poorly applied, with too few layers or lower quality phosphorescent paint. However it keeps good time and I’m very happy with it.
I think the perfect 2-watch collection is the Khaki King and Chronograph from Hamilton with an assortment of straps.
Personally i dont like the design but I think its one of the best affordable automatic watch nd love that Hamilton has stayed true to its original design
I like how you gave some nice info on why the Khaki is nice, without saying that the poster was wrong and the Khaki is the best or something. 👍
Black khaki watch was running backwards for a split second
I just purchased my Khaki Field Automatic today, an I absolutely love it! 😎🔥
Im a simple guy that likes great looks: I love that its swiss, its american history, simple looks, stylish with every clothing, not too overdressed but can be dressed up, not too expensive, nice details in the dial, practical for military time (as i am european, very sweet), absolutely adore the look-through back, and can possibly pass it on to my kids if i maintain it every 4 years. And above all i dont want or need the compliments as it is not a show of, im not like that. I originally wanted something like a tissot prx 80, but quickly cam to the conclusion it was -way- too flashy to me after i wore it at a shop. Then I looked at the hamilton murph, as i like Interstellar, but it was a bit disappointed by how it looked in real life. Then went to see tissot le locre and gentleman online , all too overdressed This hamilton khaki field automatic was the chefs kiss inbetween of what i looked for. Definitely recommend it.
It's a great design . It's beauty is in its simplicity.
Not Boring!!!
The cool thing about the Khaki Field is that it is pretty much top of the line for that type of watch. If you have the Automatic it's only around $500 if you see a discount and you will never feel the need to "upgrade" it to a more expensive field watch, unless you like something expensive like IWC, and they are very niche. So the Hamilton will stay in your collection for a long time.
I really like how the Khaki is….boring, adds to the charm!

Yup. Sometimes a simple watch is exactly what you feel like wearing some days
One of the best watches for the money IMO. Love my 38mm Hamilton Khaki , the leather band is actually pretty good and the dial can be dressed up or down. One of my favourite watches .
Where did you get that watch strap? It looks amazing on the khaki field
Love my Day Date Khaki. My favorite tool watch!
I love your explanations of not only the watches themselves but the alternatives that others can appreciate! New subscriber!

Thanks very much Joseph, I really appreciate that.
wear this one a ton and always gets love. Hamilton is just a great 'american/swiss' brand that looks classy without drawing attention
I bought it with the bracelet with the intention of immediately swapping it out with a nato or even a leather strap. However, after wearing it on the bracelet for some time, I’ve decided to keep it as is for a while. Still bought the leather strap though for when I get to grad school and want to look all distinguished and what not
That's the beauty of watches... if it's not for you, then there's plenty of options. I have what I consider to be a fairly decent collection, and my Khaki never goes out of rotation... it's pretty much my daily driver.
The khaki automatic 42 is my go to when holidaying.. Nato Strap - tough as old boots and "unremarkable" looking enough to be unnoticed when being a tourist
Great watch! Only gripe is they should have made an anti reflective coating for it, the glare from lights and sun can block out a good visual of the bezel and time. I’m in the market for the navy blue scuba hopefully doesn’t have the same issue.
I had the brown face version on an oyster style bracelet. I wore the snot out of the thing seeing as I made it my work watch. There was aspects of it that I did like specially on wrist certain angles that made me appreciate the looks, but ultimately, I never did come to terms with the overall aesthetic just never grew on me.
I love my Khaki King. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with it not keeping real great time. Never buy a high end watch off of Amazon! Because I know that's not common with Hamiltons. Some day I'd like to pick up one of the regular Field automatics though. They have a little more subtle and utilitarian look to them.

Amazon has nothing to do with that, you just got unlucky (or you have a different definition of what “good time” is than people online - remember, -10+20 is considered good to most)

As a field tool watch buy the quartz there great and don't cost 30%of retail to service and the time is bang on

@bigcraig1976 yeah im kind of leaning back more towards a quartz or solar watch for my next one anyway now.
I like my Khaki because it's simple, accurate and reliable. Mine is mounted on a stainless bracelet - again, simple and reliable. It always shows the correct time. The more complications that a watch has, the greater the opportunity for mechanical failure.
Khaki is okay but i would get the seiko alpinist. I think its not in the same category but the alpinist pique me more. Imo.
Link for that leather strap please? The nato too if you dont mind. Love my hamilton, have the same exact model as yours
I got mine only yesterday, and I loved it! I had to sell my Bulova Sutton Skeleton Classic for half the price I’d paid for it to help me pay for the Hamilton. I don’t regret a bit!
Of all my watches, the Hamilton Khaki and the Seiko 5 get the most wear.
What brand is that leather strap? That's VERY nice. I'd like to get one to replace my current strap.
I have the 38mm Khaki field watch with date It does seem a little "underwhelming", but it's a field watch and is supposed to! I love it.
Leather is always classic and elegant 🎉🎉🎉
Of my whole collection, this is the one I use the most and I have watches that cost 10x what this one cost.
One of the best looking watches i've ever seen, i love the look
I'm loving mine very much.

Me too!
I have the same watch with bracelet and I love it. It’s accurate, easy to read, subtle and versatile.
Sometimes we buy stuff we don’t vibe with, but we still gain experience from it
What size should I buy the strap? 20mm
All time classic. The green one is amazing
Im going to get one for my birthday in September. This is a clean Auto!!
I must confess I really like my smart watch. Not only can I change the strap there are lots of electronic watch faces I can load. Some even have a sweep hand and are very minimal but on the other hand there can be faces with lots of information and the time is always very accurate from the net.

It’s all about choice Hamilton for me are overpriced I’ve had 2 of their watches had Qc issue with one of them. Absolutely no Help from AD I purchased from and contacting them directly was a waste of time so I sold it on with large loss on eBay so for me personally never again
Cool watch, I have one too👍 But mechanical version.
Love mine....absolutely beautiful watch.
I love the simplicity of my white dial mechanical khaki field. The leather nato did feel kind of cheap though.
Personally when I saw these in person the way the dial is printed just looks cheap. The khaki mechanical’s dial looks better. I think if they changed to applied indices it would look better but the white dial especially just looked cheap compared to some other options in the same or even lesser price range.
That orient kamasu is cool
Really great beater watch!
I buy two Hamilton watches in and never regret it. this brand is amazing looking and feel in hand I love them more and more ❤
Looks amazing on a StrapCode Jubilee Bracelet
Extremely beautiful. Thank you...
I’m a fan looks like a nice clean everyday watch that’s a step up in the luxury department from gshock lol
It's a beautiful time piece for a field watch.... I like Eache brand leather bands .... leather nato straps also look cool ......

Straps are always a good way to dress up a simple watch but sometimes simple is good and that’s why I like my Hamilton and my Mondaine
The actual Khaki is inspired by the Vietnam-era Hamilton GG-W-113. Field watches are not supposed to be flashy. Their charm comes form the utilitarian look. A matte case, to not reflect sun, and a printed dial. As far as field watches go, Hamilton's dial is actually one of the most crowded, with three different indexes rings with lined-up numerals.
I love Hamilton khaki just because of that simplicity. You can just rock it with almost any outfit and occasion.
Just bought a pre-owned khaki aviator 46mm and I love it.

Great choice! Enjoy
Love mine, came on bracelet
Love this watch! I think it is underwhelming to guys that are newer to the collection process of watches 😅 but this watch is 👌🏼🤙🏻
The most modern iterations of the Khaki look a little bid crowded with numbers and lines. My 2007 looks clearer and I prefer it over new models.
I have one of these. A little small but a great watch.
They are perfect watches to me so whatever!
I love the khaki king… It’s not perfect (poor lume, and no AR coating), but on bracelet, it’s not only very comfortable, but it really adds to the work of the watch… I’m not sure what this guy was expecting, but it’s about as flashy as field watches come… most field watchers don’t have any polish services and are much more plane than this one
what is the size on that watch? 38 mm or 41mm
My brother has my grandads Hamilton watch he wore during WWII. It still works but is really beat up.
To me it’s a bad ass watch. Looks great on for many occasions. Not all good taste is shared, and that’s okay.
I love this watch.. I'm using it on daily basis these days.
If they don't want their Hamilton, they can pass it on to me ❤
To be fair, the strap DOES feel cheap. Definitely not on par with the price I’m a big fan of field watches so I’m biased, but I do like the khaki’s dial a lot
I felt the polished bezel and reflective glass made it feel too blingy.
I love so much Hamilton Khaki ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I agree with that comment. Not appealing at all. The Murph looks much better but I hear the AR is still a fail
I'm trying to get my hands on the khaki field quartz.... the purpose would be to re-create.. the watch that Sylar wore in the Tv show heroes...
Simple 3 hand dials are king and will always be king.
I think it's perfect and I'd kill for one
My same thoughts with this watch as well. After 2 months I was over it and thought it was just bland ; the strap felt cheap af
It’s gorgeous
I wish the crown locked. It’s happened to me a couple of times that the crown pops out and messes with my settings
I like them, my only pet peeve with it is them are the exhibition casebacks. I think it is unnecessary on a basic field watch.
@ChronometerCheck
Ай бұрын
I can see that. I like them, but a steel caseback would be slimmer
I want to want the khaki field watch but the lack of screw down crown dampens (pun not intended) that.
Love mine
