Is the Eurohike Tamar 2 the Best Budget Tent? - 2 Man Tent Review

Here is the Eurohike Tamar 2 - amzn.to/3i8IwAQ which I believe to be the best first tent you can get when starting out in the world of camping. Yes, they do have some cost cutting components (such as the fibreglass poles and steel pegs) but they make a great budget option for beginners starting out. It's a popular tent which is waterproof, double skinned and a nice dark green colour which blends in to it's surroundings. At 2.73kg it's fairly lightweight for it's price too.

So pleased to see this tent being reviewed! I’ve had a couple of Tamars spanning 30 years (yes, they’ve been around all that time) and they’ve changed very little. Superb little tents to get you started, I still use mine for garden camping when we get heatwaves and the house is too hot.

Nice design, not bad for a budget tent, as long as you know not to take it out in bad conditions. The biggest concern I would have is ventilation. Very few vents and the fly comes almost to the ground. It looks like a hot box. But you would know better than I.

I have the Eurohike Backpacker DLX 2, same materials as the Tamar 2. Love the overkill floor, and for a budget tent it really is great value. BUT - If Eurohike would've swapped the fiberglass poles and steel pegs for aluminium poles&pegs, and put a nylon 4000 mm HH flysheet on instead of the polyester, it would become simply amazing. For such a version, Eurohike could easily compete with Vango and charge Vango prices. They have the design quality, that's for sure.

At this price point at Go Outdoors I ended up buying the Vango Nyx over this, which I regret as there's no room to sit up in it being a tunnel tent. It was a little heavy at 4.5kg but it was a 3-man and had a 3rd pole making a bigger porch, it was good value though.
