@@fredriksvard2603 I hear you. I agree that they do/did feel like toys compared to Jacksons and Schecters etc. but the new Inspired By Gibson lineup that Epiphone recently put out changed that for me. At least the LP Customs feel very comparable Jackson and Schecter. I was very pleasantly surprised by that. I haven't tried many Epi's because I'm still down on them a bit (old habits die hard) but I may have gotten lucky and snagged a really good one. Epiphone slowly opening my eyes a bit now.

@@fredriksvard2603 I agree with you. I've even tried several of the new inspired by Gibson series and I was disappointed in the quality control so this new series has not changed my mine on Epiphone. I much prefer the Epi LP Modern over the Gibson LP Modern. They are great guitars for 1/3rd of the price. I swapped out my pick-ups for some 57s. My biggest complaint on both: wayyyy overboard on the weight relief. It just feels too light.

I know this is 6months old now, I have a both this model and a Schecter solo II. In terms of playability they are damn near identical, only real differences are the pro buckers in the Epi LP sound brighter in high gain settings, and the Solo II pickups are a bit darker and can get muddy in higher gain. Also the Solo II weighs slightly more than the Epi LP modern.

I totally agree with you. Any Les Paul should be a heavy guitar. If you want a Les Paul, you're just going to have to accept the fact that it's heavy otherwise it feels like a toy in your hands, at least that's how I see it. My first guitar 20 years ago was a Les Paul knock off. Bolt on neck but over 9 pounds. Played 100s of live shows with it, didn't bother me probably because I didn't know anything different.
