It's just money rebuilt it all you will still come out cheaper than a new bike and you will have a new Maxwell house. Sounds like you have a great teacher brother

It’s a bummer but it’s a bunch of bike payments rolled into one essentially for a renewed bike/no financing after that. Vehicles always have costs & then you keep the history instead of trading it in. Priceless is the feeling that you did it right. Keep the faith and rock on 🤘

Gotta consider that dealerships need to mark up pricing in order to keep the doors open….building, utilities, salaries, etc….it is what it is….🤷‍♂️

I know H-D parts and time are expensive, he is also doing some wrenching, but that price so far seems excessive!

Man, when it rains it pours. An old saying I have always heard in the auto repair business when it comes to maintenance is " you can pay now or pay later". So many people now don't do regular maintenance and just trade every couple of years and pass the problem on to the next guy.

I’m a big oil change guy. My Harley never sees 3k before I change all three holes. Everyone says it’s over kill. But I bought my 2010 in 2010 and it’s got 68k when I parked it for winter and aside from upgrades I haven’t done shit to it. I had a evo with 140k when I sold it. And I’m rough on stuff. But maintenance is key. My truck has that auto oil change crap and I prob change my oil 3 times before it cycles once. Oils cheap. Plus it’s kind of fun to do. But I come from motocross where we count our oil intervals in hours. 5-7 hours tops.

Holy shit things just keep getting worse. I hope it doesn't come to a empty house to pay for Maxwell house. sleeping on the floor isn't that comfortable. That is a pretty ugly stater. The thing about copper is, once it is run hot for a while it becomes oxidized. Now it can't take the load that it did and eventually you will have less of a load than you had. Hopefully there is not another baby in there.

  • @DevilDog59

You have gone this far. Remove the inner primary so you can check the condition of the inner primary bearing and also check the inner primary bearing race for wear and to also check that the inner primary race did not walk in towards the transmission drive gear. At this point you want to make sure the inner primary bearing and race did not get damaged due the metals floating around in the primary. Also check the clutch hub bearing to make sure it did not get damaged due to metal contamination. You have already invested labor this far a few more hours and you could have all the above mentioned items inspected, if all is good just a few seals and you will have piece of mind.

Can’t be 6 grand just in labor rebuilding the top end of a motor. Dealership rates arnt cheap. But that would be 50 hours labor. Ant no one that slow lol
