They were absolutely terrible cars known for their over reliance on cheap plastics that would fade and fall apart. Some of the worst engines and transmissions came from GM in the late 90s and early 2000s Honestly, where do people in the comments even come up with this crap.

GM’s current seats are a tragedy considering how right they were on the GMT400 and 800 generations. Seriously, most other companies find a way to produce a comfortable seat even with incorporating today’s safety and comfort gadgets and requirements. Honda for instance is knocking it outta the park.

Funny how big the GMT400 looked yet now it looks a bit small next to the 2024
Those old ones road so smooth man 😉
Stiffer seats as a safety feature. The seatbelts are better able to maintain passenger position when harnessing that passenger against a stiff surface as opposed to floppy and soft.
I'm taking the oldie everday.
I like the French doors on the older Tahoes though

This is a cool ass shot idk if that’s a camera filter or just how the red looked in the natural light but it’s awesome
The seats are stiffer so they stay plush for longer compared to soft seats which go hard as the material inside is packed down onto the base of the seat.

After 2018 is when the seats got hard as a rock
Glad someone pointed out that the price of cars went up but the comfort went down 😢
Nothing will beat the old Tahoe. Especially the old price tags for them
The 1990s models will always be the best
Old for sure bring um all back!
You forgot to mention how the old one is like an armored truck compared to the new tin can. I personally prefer 3rd gen tahoe, it was solid, comfy and relatively reliable without the useless tech overload.
I would take the older one, the interior is better on the older one and no transmission issues
Other than the sponge brakes give me the old
i love the simplicity of the 98
Just bought a 97 Silverado its better to buy then newer ones
The older Chevy gmcs were solid vehicles
I had a 1997 Suburban and that thing was extremely comfortable. They don’t make seats like they used to anymore. These companies just farm out to the lowest bidder for everything.
I remember guessing how these Chevys would look since the movie The 6th day. That was around the 2000 and they show a Chevy Tahoe/Silverado from the future
The only credit I'll give the new one is that it surely fares better in crash tests. And I'm sure some engine design aspects would be favorable to transfer to the old one, but 255 hp is more than enough to get you where you need to be and I'd definitely prefer reliability over maxing out things and increasing susceptibility to something breaking.

It’s annoying as hell that you can’t buy a car nowadays without an insane number of electronics and expensive unnecessary equipment. Cars have gone beyond ridiculous in price even compared to when I bought my first one in 2010. What I paid for my first car in then, the equivalent now is nearly double nowadays. In 2015 I bought a Hyundai Santa Fe for $29k, now a roughly similar trimmed model is $43. Make it make sense, wages haven’t gone up nearly enough to cover the cost increases.
A small batch of those older models were imported to Australia, converted to right hand drive and sold through Holden dealerships as a trial back in the day, but they didn't sell well enough to continue their program unfortunately. There is one here in my town as clean as this one in the video, same colour even and I admire it whenever I see it. Funny how now bigger American SUVs and pick-up trucks are now being imported and converted to RHD again locally here in Australia, the most common ones are the Rams, but I have no idea why it became successful here now? 🤷♂️ But they're way to big for our sized carparks unfortunately.
Nothing beats the old Tahoe. Back when Chevy gave a shit about making quality long lasting vehicles.

I'll take the older one please, send the new one back ASAP.
