CRUISING MAKES IT EASY
This is easier than driving around the island, and it need not be expensive. We had a great trip, didn't need to pack and unpack, all our meals were paid for, and we had wonderful guides at each stop.
GOOD FUN, GREAT FOOD
The trip was a lot of fun! Each day was packed with the tours of great things to see, and we loved every minute of our time on the ship. AND FOOD! The food on board the Viking Sky included some of the best meals we've had!

We are all always trying to figure out the best way to use our money when traveling. Does it make sense to plan everything ourselves, to use a tour company, or to take a cruise?
We have found that a cruise is often the best of both worlds when the cost of hotel nights and food are considered. We have also used tour companies to take care of the travel arrangements, with the many details, that are needed.

We did Iceland for a week in a rented van and had an awesome time. I have been looking at going back via a cruise that not only goes to Ireland but the itinerary includes other stops as well.

Thanks! I hope you have a great trip! It really is an interesting, unique place. We were really lucky that we had such great weather everywhere except in Reykjavik; we stayed an extra day hoping to go see the volcano that was erupting, but the weather didn't allow that.

You're right! That was when we went, when Viking was almost the first cruise line to resume, and the first cruises were Iceland.
In my experience the best way to see Iceland is by car. There are so many beautiful things to see if you drive the full way around on the ring road.
Great video. I’m headed there on a cruise with Norwegian in July.

The summer is when the Puffins are in Iceland. I think most of the summer, but at least we know that they didn't leave until the last couple of weeks in August. Thanks for the note!

Been to Iceland twice flying from UK. Love it but it is very expensive.

Thanks for the note! That's one reason we went on a cruise: we thought as long as it was going to be expensive, we might as well spend the money for the cruise, which included everything.

@@billbernstein5116 My thinking exactly! Added bonus for me (living in Liverpool) was being able to take a short taxi ride down to our waterfront & catch the ship from there. Perfect itinerary for me as Orkney - a bucket list trip but a long, pricey journey - was another port of call. It was such a fantastic trip am going again in July - also from Liverpool. Take the excursions I didn't get to do the 1st time.

Do NOT do Iceland on a cruise. The fact is that you don't see the best bits of Iceland solely on a cruise - if you stayed on the ship you'd see nothng. You have to disembark and swamp the area with coaches.
