as I think about make up dupes, I’m not upset about it. If I buy the store brand Tylenol, for my headache, or no name ketchup instead of Heinz, I have no right to complain. So for dupes, bring them on, and even better; make them as a good as or better than the original! Great topic to discuss! Thanks for all your hard work.😊

Hi there! I used to watch so many make up creators but now I’m down to watching you and raw beauty Kristy. I guess the shift for me was mainly life. I became a mom and as much as I still love makeup, from the full face club, and I just don’t have the time. I can’t keep up with all the new releases so videos became irrelevant. I love your content because you actually use your products which I find refreshing. Side note: did not love that lip color.

What do you find yourself watching these days?

For me personally, the beauty community is dead to me. I couldn’t care less about it or new releases. I’m over the hype, the over consumption, the expectation that people want to buy products because a you tuber likes it. I’d rather talk about how to lower prices of groceries, or how to make your own stuff to save money, or how to be happier and healthier.

I have every ND palette except 2. That includes her mini palettes. I love her formula. ❌️⭕️

I love both high end and drug store as well! My go to for eye shadows is juvias place. I love how pigmented the shadows are. Just a little more than drug store! I'm over brands just keep pumping out product that was or have in other palettes.

Ulta has had a mascara with different wand settings for a few years now. It’s a great formula

I'm LOVING the ELF glow wands, I have a few blush colors and 2 contours and I use them everyday. They are easy to use and stay all day and the price is right baby.

Would you do a video on the whole low/high visual weight face and the makeup that works for the two different visual weights? I can't seem to find a video that not only explains it but shows colors that work for them. Love your videos and posts, you always cover topics that are fun, interesting, and well researched. And I agree that makeup is needing a boost. I'm actually toying with the idea of trying a Pat McGrath palette just to give my creativity a much needed dose of CPR/serotonin! As my 62nd birthday is next week I may just treat myself! Been struggling with my colourpop self-built palette for a while (yawn 🥱). Sending you hugs from a displaced Yankee in Texas. Xo

There've always been inexpensive brands that copy higher end brands. If the expensive brand is actually good, it's aspirational. You'll buy the cheap version until you can afford the real thing. If you can't afford or don't want to spend a fortune on spendy makeup, you'll buy the 'imposter'. High end brand customers aren't ever going to buy Elf, so those brands are not losing business. The issue for the original brand comes when Elf does it better. But that's on the original brand to step up their game.

I personally love 2016 full glam but I think the problem is that society doesn’t like girls wearing full glam makeup because it’s not esthetically pleasing in their eyes but to me makeup is more of a fun thing and getting to be someone totally different almost like an alternate persona coming out but I do agree that brands are releasing too much and going too much off of trends rather than what people want to see

If the elf lamination gel is clear and doesn't leave the white cast the refy one does id be happy. Don't get me wrong for the most part i enjoy the refy brow gel but the white cast is annoying heck it think if they had a slightly tinted one id probably love it

I think maybe we are out of orginal ideas hate saying that but maybe we are just waiting until something or other in the technology of make up advances and then while get true orginals again too.

My issue with dupes is if they don't make them significantly cheaper. Sometimes I will see a dupe that is marginally cheaper, so why bother? I also don't like it when a company dupes products from a small or indie brand. Something about a gigantic corporation like Elf essentially stealing concepts from small creatives feels icky.

*pause* brands that are following the trend of liquid bronzers/ whatever is the “it” product atm. Idk if brands are still in the mindset of us being loyal to just them? Like “back in the day” where we would have a full collection of just maybelline, loreal, urban decay, ABH etc. like for me, that has to be 1 of 2 explanations why we see same product but from a different brand. My 2nd theory, to make a quick buck to jump on the cash grab train

I don’t mind what ELF is doing, ethics went out of the window when it comes to makeup and money. They are targeting people that don’t want to waste a hefty tag price on high end makeup. Specially when many of the times ELF does it better. I prefer to have money in my bank and good quality makeup. Who ever doesn’t want to buy it that’s their decision, which I completely respect. But ELF most be doing something right when they keep releasing these items and they sale out. Makeup is a business and it won’t change, numbers and figures don’t lied. As long as they sale out, they will continue. It’s the same concept when it comes to color range in foundation. The statistic shows there are a higher % of whites than blacks, so of course they will release more shade targeting the majority. It’s all about the influx of money for those companies. Of course, this is not right or fair but I do understand. When it comes to a business all they care about is figures. Love your reviews Nichole! ❤❤❤
