Is The Aprilia RSV4 The World's Best Superbike? We test it on the road and racetrack! - Cycle News

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's 2021, and like a young man who has diligently spent the past 12 years in the gym, the RSV4 has matured into a muscly, powerful beast of a motorcycle, yet it retains the charm, poise, and youthful good manners that endeared it so to the superbike riding fraternity when it came out way back in 2009.
Available in the base $18,999 RSV4 with cast-aluminum wheels and conventionally adjusted Sachs suspension, and the $25,499 RSV4 Factory (complete with semi-active Ohlins suspension and forged aluminum wheels), this is unquestionably the finest superbike Aprilia has ever produced. Come for a spin as we head to Laguna Seca and Big Bear to give the new RSV4 a thrashing!

Although I've never tested a RSV4, I'm going to say yes, it is the best superbike. I rode my buddy's 2019 Tuono and the hype is real. The stability and confidence in the turns is ethereal. It's like the chassis is saying to you, 'Is that all you got because I'm barely getting started?' It makes my moto2 765 seem unstable by comparison and it's unshakable in the turns.

It was impressive to see the pace you were pulling, heading up to Big Bear, while giving in-depth commentary. It looked like your divided attention led you into a couple of corners a bit hotter than you may have intended, but your skills are bang-on and you made it look easy, as you effortlessly brought it back on line. OK, sure it's an awesome bike and looking good on RSV4 is easier than on some others, but that aside you certainly have talent. Thanks for a great review.

Thank you. Excellent review. End of summer here and riding season. So now thinking about bike for next year. Had not considered the RSV4 and want to get back to sports bikes. Been Ducati for last 15 years (current Multistrada 1260s) and various Red sports bikes before. Could you comfortably road ride this bike for 2 hours without incurring the usual back and wrists of a 90 year old? Thanks again 🤔

Yeah, we put the Factory in manual mode on the track and it was much better. On the road I think the electronic suspension is the way to go, but the base model at $7k less is a hell of a bike.

  • @bellicromanx

Can the electronic suspension be tuned to make the ride sport touring bike level comfortable (barring the aggressive riding position of course) or is it just 'good for a supersport bike' level comfortable?

I was debating between the two but I couldn’t convince myself on a boring in-line 4. Then I went to see both and I was sold immediately.
