Well done. A detailed objective comparison. I like the parallel drawn between the super cars. I own both the royal oak 15300 and the laureato (I own several variants). I would advise any royal oak owner to add the laureato to their collection as it is a very different watch IMHO. I agree with all your points. The laureato is more comfortable and a little more stealth wealth or quiet luxury. It will also fit smaller wrists better. I personally like the discontinued models on the laureato and the neo vintage pieces best. So I would encourage folks to look at the 42 mm and the copper 38 mm (look on the secondary market instead of paying full MSRP at the AD) but to also look at these which are more rare: 1. Laureato 8010 (limited production) 2. Laureato Olimpico Chronograph 8017 (limited edition) 3. Laureato heritage 225 81000 (limited edition) 4. Laureato 38 mm blue, silver, black, grey 81005 (discontinued) All 4 above are no longer available from the ADs so look on the usually secondary market sites for them. Some are are very good prices and in mint condition. Many people do not know about these models … yet. I hope this helps everyone. I run the Laureato Fan Club Facebook group where we deep dive into all things GP. Best wishes from Singapore 🇸🇬 PS I just subscribed to your channel 👍🏻

The only people who say GP is homage to AP RO are the ones which never seen both. No screws, rounded vs sharp edges… completly different feel and apperance of both. Finaly nowdays AP RO gets where it should be (except the terrible WR… RO case patent is about water resistency!)… not that long time ago, AP RO didnt have propper manufacture movement, date setting on jumbo… however this watch is about case/dial design. Fair to say is AP RO design evolution is minor compare to GP… original Laureato looks different (was a quartz watch).

Great comp and helpful. I do love the look of AP Royal Oak, but the GP Laureato is slightly more modern with, at least from a distance, a similar design aesthetic and nice color alternatives. I was not familiar with GP but having looked for a sports watch, I chose Laureato over IWC, others for its design, size, price point. I would not call it a "bargain watch" but the point of this review, and from my perspective, it is VERY difficult to justify spending 2X-2.5X on the AP.

The black ceramic version of the Laureato is amazing in person and such good value used.

The Laureato is 90% of the AP for less than half the price. Plus the AP comes with a lot of baggage that the GP doesn't. I like both watches, although I don't love either of them. If I was forced to choose one, it'd be the AP because of its heritage and importance to the modern watch industry - but if I'm paying with my own money, I wouldn't be upset at getting the GP. All things being equal though, I'd rather have a Vacheron Constantin Overseas.

People who spend 40 grand in a steel, basic complication watch have completely lost perspective of the real value of money Who spends 1/3 of that are the same they just can’t afford to spend more. Luxury watch brands are laughing all the way to the bank

In logical, practical terms neither are worth more than a Casio because any Casio will keep better time.

@@Chronext That would be cool. I'd pick the RO if I could get it at retail, but I tried the Laureato on and wasn't that impressed. The Chopard, though, was 👌.

I disagree, just cannot get used to the strangely situated bezel screws in sets of two of the Alpine Eagle. I also don't like Roman numerals on watches. Just my two cents though. I love my GP Laureato Chrono 🐼!
